I love the DOA movie! It is definitely one of my favorite game-to-movie adaptations. A perfect representation of the madness that is the DOA game franchise, which also has a hilariously convoluted and dramatic backstory involving ninjas, betrayal, robots, and clones. And of course Tina is wearing jeans! She's supposed to be a stereotypical cowgirl! LOVE IT!!!!
Forest Onaz I agree. It was an interesting way to make a movie that I didn’t actually mind. Just ignore physics on a consistent level like a cartoon then it becomes acceptable in that reality.
Right? The thing about his video is that he dumped on like 90% the actual story of the source material and then like 2% how the movie itself was bad. The brother/sister subplot. Part of the game. Ayane's love affair with Hayate. Part of the game. Cheesy/almost porn scenes mixed in with fighting and stuff. Part of the game. (I think that nerdy character having a daydream of Helena is point for point a cutscene from the game from that character.) Tina fighting in denim. Part of the game. She's a southern belle wrestler girl. She fights in bikinis and jeans. And a cowboy hat. That evil dude at the end using nanotech to steal fighter's abilities. Part of the game. If this thing had a sequel you'd find out the point of it was to make a clone of Kasumi that was even stronger of a fighter than she and the other ninjas are. I think that clone was the final boss of DOA 5.

7:20 Corey Yuen is actually a respected martial arts filmmaker in Hong Kong. He was a classmate of Jackie Chan's and helmed many of Jet Li's 90s films. But of course, Hollywood always gives directors very limited time and budget to work with on these cash in movies. Not to mention all of the studio checklists they have to follow. I guess he lost all taste for directing after this one.
What about the King of Fighters movie which was directed by Gordon Chan (director of Fist of Legend with Jet Li, widely considered one of the best martial arts movies ever)
@jp3813 and @chrisstuckmann Yes, this was Corey Yuen’s (aka Yuen Kwai) last *English language* film. He’s continued primarily as an action director, which is his strength, on Hong Kong films since DOA working most recently on Soccer Killer in 2017.
@@seanharrison933 There are a lot of those instances, such as the legendary Tsui Hark (Once Upon a Time in China franchise) debuting in Hollywood with Van Damme's Double Team and Knock Off. I actually really enjoy this silly movie. The fights are pretty fun and the fan service doesn't hurt either, they assembled a pretty attractive cast. Eric Roberts and Devon Aoki were really miscast though. You can tell most of the actresses can't fight, but they manage to make them look good anyway which is kinda hard. (Even Mortal Kombat had clunky fights.) It's basically a live action cartoon, I would have loved this as an adolescent boy. It's a pretty low bar but among the movies based on fighting games MK and DOA are the only decent ones, most are almost unwatchable.
I thought it was a decent movie too. Much better than the average B movie. I think he was being a little over critical. Of all the terrible video game movies to pick from this was a terrible choice.
Alessandro Picariello I personally love the film, and recommend it for a night of laughter and popcorn with friends. If you think the film is trying to be a serious drama, you're going to have a bad time.
Oh I hope Assassin's Creed is good. I sure hope so. But it won't be. It'll look nice, and Michael Fassbender is a really good actor, but it still won't be good.
He co-directed it. He is credited as action director in the European credits, and in the american credits Louis Leterrier as artistic director. So pretty much he directed the action scenes, and in the sequel Leterrier did alone. Leterrier also did the amazing Danny the Dog aka Unleashed (and four okay Hollywood blockbusters).
Honestly, it's a pretty faithful adaptation. What is DOA about? Fighting, hot ladies looking hot and butts. This movie checks all those boxes so as far as getting its source material right, A+
Ahhhh Dead or Alive. One of my favourite guilty pleasures of all time, right there alongside the Transformers movies and Unforgettable. I know they're bad movies but I find them enjoyable regardless of everything else, I just love them so much.
@Jojoforpres Nope. I'm sorry but sucker punch made me want to sucker punch Zach Snider in the face. Studio interference and forced PG-13 rating aside I'd put it right next to The spirit as a movie that looked great but was awful in execution. DOA at least basically understood it was cheesecake and fights. I think Tekken is still the best fighting game based live action movie and no one remembers that.
John Doe the 2009 movie? Haven't watched it but the quote from the trailer "Tekken killed my mother" was hilariously bad. Also you don't like Mortal Kombat? The Reptile fight was sooo good.
@@JohnDoe-wq5eu I thought Sucker Punch was kinda lousy as well. The fights were all snoozefests since you knew she was invincible and all the added twists added nothing in terms of emotional weight. My little sister loves it though, so shrug, it's not made for me. DOA is the same in that you just need to be in the demographic it's made for.
Funny thing after seeing this movie, I played DOA. Found out DOA is actually a god damn kickass hardcore fighting game, and fucking HARD for a Samsho kid like me. And DOA had a pretty good plot, what do you know.
Corey Yuen has directed some great Hong Kong movies. He just hasn't been able to make anything really great working within the confines of the Hollywood system. You should check out any of these. "She Shoots Straight" is a particular favorite of mine. - Yes, Madam (1985) - Fong Sai-yuk (1993) - Saviour of the Soul (1991) - She Shoots Straight (1990)
No retreat no surrender is also gold, apparently ‘above the law’ with Yuen Biao and Cynthia Rothrock is also quite good, but I haven’t seen it. He’s definitely one of the best action film directors though.
When I first saw the opening I was like "oh, this movie's animated?" Then it showed the real girl catch the thing and I was like. "Wait, that was supposed to be real!?!"
i know this is a 2 year old video and youve probably heard it a hundred times, but your sound setup is amazing. just put my headphones on after binging a bunch of your vids and its just so crystal clear. well done.
That actually happened with a couple of pornos, from what I heard. They didn't provide any sexually-explicit material and chose to give some type of ... build up, or cheating-based story to it. Lmao.
This is one of those that is so much fun to watch with friends at home and laugh at it. The DBZ movie is the same. I love that these kind of movies exist.
DOA DOES have an awesome story. The series is about family, betrayal, the consequences of birth, loss, cloning, cybernetics, and magic all rolled into one, and it's awesome! This movie got none of that. I mean, why was Tina a main character? Of all, you made Tina a main? The hell? Except Ryu's fight. Despite not using his sword, that was pretty accurate to what he'd do.
that wasn't even a movie, it actually started as a web series to promote halo 4 and was latter turned into a movie which is just all the episodes mashed together
This is a great movie to have playing for when you have friends over and you’re just sitting on the couch or hanging in the living room talking and not really paying attention to what’s on the tv.

As a teen I LOVED this movie. I watched it so many times. Holly Valance was my favourite.
Didn't see it in many years though...
I hate it when Donovan hits Christie in the belly with all his strength and makes her cry out so loudly during the end fight.
No, Chris, not Eric Roberts from The Dark Knight, Eric Roberts from A Talking Cat!?!.
Eric Roberts from The Human Centipede III
Caleb Rhodus Runaway Train!
Heroes before it sucked.
Devon Aoki is miscast in anything that gives her lines to say.
this movie seems like a bad skid from saturday night live
This isn't a movie this is memed porn with a video game name slapped on it
Like the very game it's based on?
8:05 i dunno Chris, this actually looks like a quality production. I'd really like to watch this.
...not even joking
Alessandro Picariello I personally love the film, and recommend it for a night of laughter and popcorn with friends. If you think the film is trying to be a serious drama, you're going to have a bad time.
***** i meant quality production for porn
Oh I hope Assassin's Creed is good. I sure hope so. But it won't be. It'll look nice, and Michael Fassbender is a really good actor, but it still won't be good.
Andrew Collins Well the director did Macbeth also starring Fassbender so it might be great.
yeah, about that movie, reviews are just rounding up and are bad at best
Andrew Collins it wasnt.....
When will people realize that Making Movies based on Video Games always Suck.
It was baaaaad
Whatever man I always imagine sound effects when I beating people up.
..... Like in my imagination.
The director of this is actually ver well known for his fight choreography. He made mainly hong kong martial arts movies.
He also directed the original Transporter.
Indeed. He directed Fong sai yuk 2 with Jet Li and co-directed Dragons Forever with Jackie Chan - two of my favorite kung-fu movies.
Christian Ninsananda really? Cool
***** co directed
Honestly, it's a pretty faithful adaptation.
What is DOA about? Fighting, hot ladies looking hot and butts. This movie checks all those boxes so as far as getting its source material right, A+
"Intresting"
8:50 Technically, doesn’t every movie give you the biggest laugh of the entire film?
You know the worst part? This isn't the only hilariously bad live-action adaptation of a fighting game starring an Australian singer. STREET FIGHTER!
It is the worst of the two though by the looks of it.
Ahhhh Dead or Alive.
One of my favourite guilty pleasures of all time, right there alongside the Transformers movies and Unforgettable. I know they're bad movies but I find them enjoyable regardless of everything else, I just love them so much.
im sorry but i genuinely laughed at the "does christie know about you two?"
also holy crap 9:31 thats the most anime shit ever in a real life movie :D
Silent hill is the best video game movie adaptation lol imo
My 10 y/o self loved that movie. I felt so empowered by the women .. lmao
@Jojoforpres
Nope.
This movie is AWESOME!!
I own it on DVD and I admire the action and the dedication to the video game!
Funny thing after seeing this movie, I played DOA.
Found out DOA is actually a god damn kickass hardcore fighting game, and fucking HARD for a Samsho kid like me.
And DOA had a pretty good plot, what do you know.
Can't remember that last Hilarocity 😂 been awhile
KingFiz ikr thought he was going to do one every other week, that would of been dope
Corey Yuen has directed some great Hong Kong movies. He just hasn't been able to make anything really great working within the confines of the Hollywood system. You should check out any of these. "She Shoots Straight" is a particular favorite of mine.
- Yes, Madam (1985)
- Fong Sai-yuk (1993)
- Saviour of the Soul (1991)
- She Shoots Straight (1990)
He did So Close. And co directed Transporter too.
No retreat no surrender is also gold, apparently ‘above the law’ with Yuen Biao and Cynthia Rothrock is also quite good, but I haven’t seen it. He’s definitely one of the best action film directors though.
"The opening scene takes place in Japan with a bunch of Japanese people who speak English all the time...when they're alone" fucking hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
This movie honestly looks amazing. xD
It is so bad it is good
At least that perpetual shit stain, Uwe Boll, didn't direct it.
Give it a shot. It’s dumb fun.
Best movie adaptation of a video game so far!
Peter Travers, Rolling Stone :)
The bra shot is just amazing, pure genius
When I first saw the opening I was like "oh, this movie's animated?" Then it showed the real girl catch the thing and I was like. "Wait, that was supposed to be real!?!"
i know this is a 2 year old video and youve probably heard it a hundred times, but your sound setup is amazing. just put my headphones on after binging a bunch of your vids and its just so crystal clear. well done.
A porn without porn...
Worst kind of porn
But with Diesel!
semi softcore porn yo!
That actually happened with a couple of pornos, from what I heard. They didn't provide any sexually-explicit material and chose to give some type of ... build up, or cheating-based story to it. Lmao.
Sounds like a Buddhist proverb.
This is one of those that is so much fun to watch with friends at home and laugh at it. The DBZ movie is the same. I love that these kind of movies exist.
7:40 Holy crap. Kevin from Shameless is so young in this
LiveAction Link - “I got a magic dick. Yo, I GOT A MAGIC DICK!”
I am convinced this and My Name is Earl are what fueled my childhood crush on Jaime Pressly
Yeah she's fine... back in the day she was a goddess
She was hot. I'd rather Catalina, but I'd jump for Joy.
same here 😂🙈
She's still fit
DOA DOES have an awesome story. The series is about family, betrayal, the consequences of birth, loss, cloning, cybernetics, and magic all rolled into one, and it's awesome! This movie got none of that. I mean, why was Tina a main character? Of all, you made Tina a main? The hell? Except Ryu's fight. Despite not using his sword, that was pretty accurate to what he'd do.
tyrongkojy he doesn't know that these are some of the best fighting games ever and as a fighting game it is better than ssb
Eh, agree to disagree.
Are you gonna do Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn? I actually liked that movie, but it's not the best. It's just OK.
Arc 48 It's also from the Director of Max Steel...
Not saying the Halo movie isn't good, I haven't seen it, but Max Steel was SO BAD.
It was good when Master Chief came in to kick ass.
that wasn't even a movie, it actually started as a web series to promote halo 4 and was latter turned into a movie which is just all the episodes mashed together
The web serial was good.It didn't work so well when the re-edited them into a full feature.
Punished Shia I know, but it still counts as a movie.
This is the funniest Chris stuckmann video out there. i miss his hilariocity vids i know he's a busy man now.
The guy in the blue/green Hawaiian shirt, is that Van from the show Reba?
EPS5000 Yup. It is him. I was surprised too when I saw first this movie. Yup. From beginning to end.
EPS5000 I knew he looked familiar!😂👌🏽
I saw it when I was a kid... Like very young kid... Like 7 or 8 yr old... AND I LOVED IT
( have to rewatch it, with some kids )
I remember watching this movie years ago because of the hot girls haha.
Look this movie sucks but I genuinely laughed at:
"We're just sleeping together"
"Yeah I can see that" I don't know why
That opening shot looked like a cutscene from Total War: Shogun 2 or something.
This is a great movie to have playing for when you have friends over and you’re just sitting on the couch or hanging in the living room talking and not really paying attention to what’s on the tv.
Leave this movie alone! This movie is awesome. I'm still waiting on the sequel
I think you’re trying to judge this as if it was a serious film, which it is not.
