For me, the best thing about Peter Kay is he's universal.
The things he jokes about, from the weddings to the dentists etc, people from most countries can relate to.

It's so lovely to see you two appreciate our Lancashire hero Peter Kay.He is in the Guiness Book of Records having played to over 1.2 million people on his 'tour that didn't tour' series.Our county seems to produce the funniest comedians in the UK..Maybe because it was the epicentre of the Industrial Revolution when people became the cogs in the wheels of giant factories.They found humour as a way to survive the sheer awfulness of it.Now the county is back to its beautiful old self ..the humour and quirkiness remains..I am an ex-pat living abroad ,love to hear the voice of my home ...

I didn't know that Billy Connolly, literally the funniest comedian ever (not only in the UK but the whole world) was from England? Oh wait.......
OK so he may not be your favourite, but as we all know humour is subjective and although there are many brilliant comedians from England, there are also many from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland who are just as brilliant (and some maybe even more so) as those who are English born and bred! I mean even Michael McIntyre who is considered a quintessential English comedian is only first generation English, as are many others in UK comedy.
The long and short of it is that being English does NOT make a comedian any funnier than others from around the UK and to suggest it does is quite simply laughable as I'm sure non-English comedians such as Billy C, Ronnie Corbett, Rhod Gilbert, Frankie Boyle, Kevin Bridges, Terry Jones, Tommy Cooper and Jim Eoin (as just a few examples) easily prove!

Marriage is entirely for the bride in general. Becoming a wife is a retirement package for when a woman is 35+ and too old to attract a quality man so she can live off her husband's finances, and the husband is legally screwed if he tries to leave.

Talking of providing your own entertainment at a wedding. a friend of mine who was the drummer in a rock covers band did an hour set with his band mates at his own wedding, they had hired a DJ for afterwards but he was dreadful and had a very poor record collection. I am of course talking pre internet and laptops where you can access any music you want. the family was not happy and he was told to pack up and leave. my friend and his band ended up playing for the rest of the night and everyone had a great night in the end.

I think you will find that - The Chicken Dance, is a universally known and laughed at song, which was created by a Swiss accordian player in the 50's and is pulled out at nearly every First World country celebration since about the 70's.

I absolutely love the part about the slipper. My mom is Scottish and she could get you in the head with her shoe by flicking it off her foot. NEVER mess with a Scottish woman. My family tried marrying me off to a Scottish woman and it's like hell no. I married this timid shy Taiwanese girl who turned out to be an exact replica of my mom. They even share the same birthday. I should have known what I was getting into when they loved each other at first sight. 🤪

hi brad and lucy , i have been watching your reactions to british comedy, i see you like peter kay. it occurred to me that you might also like the royle family which is a comedy series written by the late caroline aherne , who plays denise in the series. i would recommend the dog shit on the shoe episode, the christmas special when denise gives birth ,jim and twiggy wallpaper stripping or just watch from episode 1 they are all good. i have noticed that jim and brad share the same dismissive phrase. also look out for who has the last word.
