So basically you just listed all the reason that no "sane" person should live in San Francisco. You didn't even talk about the crime situation and massive homeless and drug crisis. Having once lived there (I went to college there) I am so glad I didn't stay because it's so bad now. Seriously you should be telling people how to prepare an "exit strategy" and how to relocate to the midwest (which is probably where the tech companies will wind up after they leave SF). BTW you'd make about the same money here with a law degree, and live like a king at a franction the cost of struggling to live there.
Crime/homelessness/drugs are topics in multiple other videos coming out, because I agree they're important. Having lived in LA and New York, I wouldn't say those things are things I wish I knew about SF specifically because those things are unfortunately major issues everywhere else I've lived and have been a part of daily life for as long as I can remember. Sorry you had a bad experience in college, and hope you're happier wherever you've decided to set up home.
Right! SF is a horrible city to live in. I have friends middle class and high class that are moving out of this city. Homelessness is way out of control. Burglary is out of control and hate crime is high.
@@usernamenotfound2898 I have friends leaving too. I also have friends moving here. Homelessness is definitely an issue but it’s neighborhood specific and not unique to San Francisco. Car break ins are more of a broader issue for sure-very frustrating the city doesn’t do more about it. Sorry you didn’t enjoy your time growing up here. I’ve lived in a lot of big cities and think SF is still great and don’t intend to leave any time soon.
Relocating to the Midwest? Don’t really find that making sense, if anyone is telling me he’s moving from the Bay Area to like Chicago or Detroit or any other midwest cities. There’s no frontier tech industry or any startups in the Midwest, and that means their house price is just a bubble. Big companies will lay off those remote workers in the first round, and they can’t find a similar job again in the Midwest. The city of SF is a special case during pandemic, but all the big metropolitan cities experienced that in the last 3 years. People generally are still trying their best to stay in the Bay Area if they can. I see so many people moved to Texas and finally came back. Even Elon Musk, he’s moved to Texas in the way of “tax avoiding” purpose only, but physically staying in Cali half of the time. Locking the prop13 property tax in the Bay Area is always the best choice. For SF, I would say give it a few years to heal and recover. It is the most resilient city in the states. Uber, Airbnb, Twitter and even today’s hottest OpenAI all come from there. It still holds the key to the future production. Hey do an investment when it looks like the bottom of the darkest time, because it’s going to go up and become more worthy over years.
