I think Salazar Slytherin gets a bad wrap for the wrong reasons. Salazar knew that the numbers of wizards were much smaller than muggles, and he didn’t want the threat of muggles attacking wizarding society. JK Rowling said that certain genes can damage the magic gene in witches/wizards (like Vernon’s blood). This can cause them to be “squibs”. I will quote the exact reference when I find it. So I’m confused about “pure blood” not mattering. If certain muggle genes can cause the bloodline to have an inferior gene, Salazar Slytherin had to be somewhat correct. Yes, there are anomalies. Salazar (at least from what we know) never went on a rampage of killing muggles or non-pure bloods. The basilisk could be controlled by the heir of Slytherin, but it didn’t necessarily have to be used to kill non-pure bloods. I feel Salazar was bigoted towards non-pure bloods for sound reasons. He wanted to keep magic alive without risking their complete destruction. The basilisk I feel was more of a fail safe to protect the school. The basilisk is magically resistant, it’s also capable of killing in a single look. If the school was being invaded by anyone intending to harm the school (which included magic users themselves), the serpent would be able to seriously fight that threat. I think Slytherin would’ve fought to his last breath to defend Hogwarts and I think he hoped his heir would do the same.

It's fascinating to think about the complexity of his character and how his desire to protect the wizarding world could be seen as both a strength and a flaw.
Your interpretation of the Basilisk as a defensive measure rather than purely an offensive one is particularly intriguing. It adds another layer to Slytherin's legacy!
The idea that he might have been more concerned with survival than with superiority gives us a lot to ponder. We're curious to see that quote from J.K. Rowling when you find it...it could definitely add to the discussion!
It's always great to explore these nuanced perspectives on the Wizarding World's history. Perhaps Salazar's approach could have been more effective or less divisive if he had communicated his concerns differently?

      Harry and Dudley: Future Hope?
“A couple of people have told me that they hoped to see Dudley at King’s Cross in the Epilogue, accompanying a wizarding child. I must admit that it did occur to me to do that very thing, but a short period of reflection convinced me that any latent wizarding genes would never survive contact with Uncle Vernon’s DNA, so I didn’t do it.
However, I know that after Dudley’s brave attempt at reconciliation at the start of Deathly Hallows, the two cousins would have remained on ‘Christmas Card’ terms for the rest of their lives, and that Harry would have taken his family to visit Dudley’s when they were in the neighbourhood (occasions dreaded by James, Albus and Lily).” I want to find the exact day and year, but I knew I wasn’t crazy. I knew I read it somewhere

@@factsoftheconfederacy7151 It's indeed very interesting to think of Salazar's mentality in the way you have described it, as convincing as this interpretation sounds, I have to say, this interpretation has more flaws than it has advantages. The way that his character has been described so far was based upon the discriminative and condescending behaiviour that he practiced against muggles. But even if we take in account your interpretation of his character we see many cons.
First, his fear of possible inferiority or impurity in the magical blood due to the contact of wizards and muggles. You suggested in your statement that he wished to protect the magical blood by ensuring that no wizard or witch mates with a muggle. But this sounds very prejudicial as in many cases we see that various wizards who are half blood or whose parents are not both wizards but one of them is a muggle are quite powerful none the less, for example, Severus Snape or Lord Voldemort himself. Proving that there is no need to worry about inferior bloods. As for the birth of squibs due to contact between muggles and wizards or witches, it will still not be enough of a risk to take in consideration that it may cause the downfall of the wizard population. Hence I think this worry is unnecessary for Salazar to ponder upon.
Second, the usage of the Basilisk in the school. As we saw, it was kept in a room completely dedicated to Salazar Slytherin and he knew that his heirs will be able to open the chamber to release the beast. This beast had the power to kill those it considered an enemy or was commanded to kill, with a single glance. Any normal person would consider this beast too dangerous for a school. Yet Salazar had decided to conceal it within the school WITHOUT the information given to the other 3 founders of the school.
Even though you give a positive perspective to Salazar's character, I find it hard to agree with.

This is the TV show we wanted ! But it seems that whoever is in charge of the Wizarding world at Warner Bros has no clue of what he is doing, a simple muggle that only thing in 💵💵. First it is important to construct the villain to introduce it to new audiences and then you keep going. Then you can show the mauraders and after that go full with the story of Harry !! Pum 10 or more years of TV shows !! Great Job ! 10 points for Hufflepuff why not 😜
