I use a 6'6" telescoping rod from bass pro $30 and a 2500 reel you could even go with a 2000 If you want and it can easily go anywhere with me and I don't have to sacrifice the use of an actual rod for one of the tiny ones

I have an ozark trail bait caster and I can’t believe how awesome it is. Great value. If you want an entry level bait caster buy the ozark trail the lews one I had at the same price didn’t stand up to the fish.

I love my Ugly Stik Carbon Inshore rods. They're all graphite and very sensitive with a fast action. I got all 3 of the 7' models of spinning rods, a medium light, medium and medium heavy. The lighter one is awesome for soft plastics on jig heads and light stuff. The medium is good for the same jigs plus Texas Eye type jigs and spoons or popping corks or jerk baits and the heavier one is great for popping corks and heavier lures. They a lot better than my GX2's. They're way lighter, have a far better action for most lures, they're sensitive and they cast a long way with braided line. I fish in the saltwater and those poles are made for saltwater angling but they would be perfect for a lot of bass situations too. I have 10 lb braid on the lighter ones and 15 on the heavier one. I'm pretty happy with them but I wish they'd make some 7' 6" models for casting farther. Long casts mean more fish in my world.
