Killer review. In this cold rainy weather here in northern California the Slate Sky has been fantastic. Took me a minute to get used to their new DWR (it’s not nearly as good as the toxic stuff) now I really like it. Mainly because the fit is so well done. I hated the storm racer.. I don’t use a running vest and so the hunchback and goofy zippers just pissed me off
Even with the running vest I found mine super goofy and tend to grab the Houdini or Houdini Air more often than not, especially since I don’t have to deal with liquid precip often.
I have the Airshed Pro, it’s my most used piece. Check out my video on it. It isn’t a complete replacement for the Houdini air but it offers some similar features.
Sure can! It does get a bit clammy when I'm running in it. The jacket itself isn't super breathable when compared to something like the Houdini Air, though there are a ton of ways to vent it, which can definitely help with the breathability. The problem with unzipping it to vent it though is that when you do that it protects you way less from the elements. I've done a few pouring rain runs in it and ended up soaked, either from sweat or from the rain when I tried to keep it not as zipped up. It performs the best in the winter, imo. When it is snowing, I can zip up and run and I tend to not sweat as much.
"definitely serial killer vibes" hahaha and the face of a little boy with the hood on hahaha

You're welcome! Glad it was helpful

Hugely informative. Couldn’t you get a radio mic. Sounds like you’re in a cave. Keep up the great work.
Working on it! The new stuff sounds way better.
