I learned this intro about a year ago and the syncopation was so difficult for me to get, but I stuck with it and got it after several days of trying. Dont give up, you will eventually be able to play it. Thanks Tim for a great tutorial as usual!
This one gives me fits :-) I struggle with keeping that beat on the top because it keeps trying to match the beat of the thumb in the bass. It's sort of the opposite of the independent thumb struggle in Travis picking. I'll get it eventually, but man, the two different beats at once aren't happening yet.
I know exactly what you mean! It's probably because we have always trained to keep the bass part steady in quarter notes and everything else moving around that... and then all of a sudden Tommy comes up with something that works exactly the other way around! 😂
