ive never seen a rock star/ virtuosos player of his caliber just sittin on the floor playing with pedals. this looks like my small bands rehearsals even! i find it unbelievably cool of him. loads of respect for this guy :)
I've seen many Steve Vai interviews and gear videos he never usually uses foul language he must be really excited about this TC TonePrint reverb pedal!
Its weird, I watch other virtuoso's and they make me want to burn my guitars and just give up playing, but for some reason Vai's playing just makes me want to get better, but with still stay creative, what a cool guy!
I LOVE this video... thank you TC and Steve Vai for sharing. PS: Just slapped a G-Major 2 into my main rack, replacing all of my Boss pedals and my tone has never been better. TC is awesome!
I have the HOF and it indeed is the Toneprint option and ability to craft my own reverbs that I appreciate most. It is not an end all pedal for me as I need shimmer on occasion but it stacks nicely with my other delays and reverbs and is used frequently in a live context.
That title has to be a slight tongue in cheek jab at Devin Townsend seeing as Ocean Machine: Biomech was an album that oozed reverb and crazy layering. I would actually love to have a pedal that emulates the tone lead tone Devin had on Ocean Machine though, one of the nicest albums tonally I have ever heard.
Very cool to see Vai with a Sustainiac! I was wondering if he would ever use them versus the Fernandes. And of course thanks to TC for showing us these great videos.
I love this pedal. It was a toss up between this and the cathedral and I went with this one. But this video is great. I love that Steve Vai was on the floor messing around with his pedal and customizing it just like I know most of us do. It's great to see artists in this light. Great video.
TC Electronic I just received this from the mail, i played with this thing for 9 straight hours, didn't even realize I had to use the bathroom until I turned it off, so addicting!
It had same effect to me...and still has. Few months ago got H.O.F mini..its awesome...i havent yet test how to make my own sound becouse presets are so good, and there is lots of them.Just foud out that you got Sub 'N' Up Octaver pedal...sounds awesome, now i know what aim going to do to my salary tomorrow...
Nice for creamsicle sunset etc ... I do the same with a light setting on both Boss compresser and Boss pitch shift, and an MXR carbon copy, it's cheaper but not in stereo or as etheral like...
Wow! As expected Vai gets right in there, calling out values, adjusting EQ, and the whole nine. Most other guys just tweak a bit off the starting point and that's it. Hoping to see some new content from VaiHimself up soon!
I've been playing guitar for five years, now and often think that I'm already pretty good, but whenever I listen to steve, I feel like a small fish in the ocean again. Well, essentially, in the ''Ocean Machine''
I am going by my bad memory but I think there is over 300 in the harmony hut or something really crazy like that. Billy Gibbons, Jimi Page and Joe Bonamassa have similarly huge collections as well.
2:20 = LOL!!!! XD - never heard him say that before. Very nice tone he achieved with that pedal - I'm impressed! I need to get a reverb pedal for my Orange JRT amp after I start using it fully (it replaces my Ibanez TB50 with reverb) so, I'll definitely give this a go and compare it to a few others.
you know i know this guy, and i´ve met him 3 times for always about 2/3 hours.. i never heared him say something like that..he must be verry exited about those options you can do with tone print gear :D
guys you should seriously consider putting out a X4 version of the hall of fame, and if you're already in the development stage please give us a hint!! many ambient/post rock guitar players would love it, people on forums dream about it. Hall Of Fame X4 + Flashback X4 = ultimate sonic heaven!
I believe it's because other virtuoso tends to be more technical and fast. Not saying they are bad, they are still good. Just a lil intimidating for some of us. Steve display more of dynamic controls and stuff. Often looks easy but hard to play still. A note of his can sing a song. Haha.
Sustaniac pickup in his Jem? Steve is a Fernandes Sustainer guy..or was. I wonder if he is just trying different stuff or if something happened with Fernandes?
I remember when he played on the David Lee Roth album with Billy Sheehan. That was one hell of a lineup. Then the next album I guess Roth told him to tone it down and then he left. Why the hell you wouldn't want to keep this guy around I just don't know. Then he later turns up on the Whitesnake tour. And is gone again. I know he's got the solo thing going but I can't believe some well-known band hasn't picked him up by now...or have I missed something? He's just incredible.
Steve...beautiful! You should have named it OCEAN MOON SKY VAI! Haha...Jk. Actually, I wish I had this Toneprint when I recorded that piece! I could listen to you noodle around all day... Much love, Donna
You just gotta love how playful Mr.Vai still is, about playing and gear - "Holy shit! You can do anything with this now..." :) And little later - "no fuckin' way (smiles)"...
Hej Tore. I’m Danish but I write in English! - What is the big red pedal for? He was using it at the concert in Groningen for two weeks ago. I took close up pictures of all his pedals.
Jeg har netop modtaget mail fra Åge/4sound om sommerdeals. Sørmer om den ikke er til salg som demo. Haha, og mig, der aldrig har lagt mærke til den før.
Yes indeed! Under Hall Of Fame 2, there's a subcategory called "Hall Of Fame Reverb". Here all of the TPs from the original have been mapped to the new HOF 2.
Great to see Vai... though the whole thing is very digital. I get that in the corona too, it seems like an across the board thing in TC's chorus. It's cool, but it's easy to get fatigue. Satriani please!
Just let me get this straight: TonePrint means "approved" and "co-tweaked" by the artist, but it's not the sound actually and continously used by the artist in the studio and on tour, right?

Steve Vai is truly a master. An absolute wizard of the guitar.
Its weird, I watch other virtuoso's and they make me want to burn my guitars and just give up playing, but for some reason Vai's playing just makes me want to get better, but with still stay creative, what a cool guy!
Steve Vai is one of those special kind of good crazies...
A nice nod to Devin Townsend there, good man Vai :)
Have been to several Steve vai sound checks before the gig it's amazing watching him dial in levels etc
Steve is such a great player.
Anything he plays on a guitar sounds awesome 👏🏼🎶🎸
VAI just an amazing being
I LOVE this video... thank you TC and Steve Vai for sharing.

It's inspiring to see Steve make a patch. Learn a lot from it too
So cool to watch Vai tweaking a tone like this. Thanks.
That title has to be a slight tongue in cheek jab at Devin Townsend seeing as Ocean Machine: Biomech was an album that oozed reverb and crazy layering. So cool that you got to hang out with one of your heros Tore. Love the hall of fame and flashback pedals. Keep up the good work man.
Just uploaded it onto my HoF. Sounds fantastic! Great sounding toneprint for 7 string too!
I love this pedal. It was a toss up between this and the cathedral and I went with this one. But this video is great. I love that Steve Vai was on the floor messing around with his pedal and customizing it just like I know most of us do. It's great to see artists in this light. Great video.
Guitarists love tweeking! Steve Vai just creates a beautiful sound every time he touches the instrument. He’s like a modern Jeff Beck.
Hope there are more Vai induced tone prints forthcoming!
With that playing everything will sound good!
I wonder if Ocean Machine is a reference to Devin Townsend.
I've been playing for 40 years & was never much into reverb till I got my Hall of Fame a couple years ago. I am definitely a reverb guy now.
What a diamond! Fabulous.
I think Revaib would've been a good name
Dude, you should totally patent that! Then sell it to TC electronics!
You'll have to get one of our reverb pedals +Robert A
TC Electronic I just received this from the mail, i played with this thing for 9 straight hours, didn't even realize I had to use the bathroom until I turned it off, so addicting!
Jon Hobgood Ha! It sure is :)
It had same effect to me...and still has. :-) thanks Ismo!

Good amazing job...👍👍👍

all of his guitars
I'm digging the verb, nice work. Now I'm going to upload it to my trinity and fool around with it :D Thanks.
This is so cool
Mr Vai was clearly impressed with the capability / tweakability of this piece of gear.
Now it ain't often a genius is impressed...
Best Reverb pedal i have used .
I've been playing guitar for five years, now and often think that I'm already pretty good, but whenever I listen to steve, I feel like a small fish in the ocean again.

Thank you

TC people you are insane!!! How you can make guitar player's go nut's with all your sound and engineering that is not fair inclusive for Steve Vai!!!
Thanks
oh yeah, big time...he's a pioneer with that thing.
"Holy shit, you can do anything with this..." XD
you know i know this guy, and i´ve met him 3 times for always about 2/3 hours.. i never heared him say something like that..he must be verry exited about those options you can do with tone print gear :D
I´m STILL waiting for this Toneprint to show up on the Iphone Toneprint app ?
I got Doug Aldrich's tone print on my Flashback. Think I'm gonna load this
guys you should seriously consider putting out a X4 version of the hall of fame, and if you're already in the development stage please give us a hint!! many ambient/post rock guitar players would love it, people on forums dream about it. Hall Of Fame X4 + Flashback X4 = ultimate sonic heaven!
That would be so cool sitting Indian style in vai’s studio messing with different effects 😄👍
I believe it's because other virtuoso tends to be more technical and fast. Not saying they are bad, they are still good. Just a lil intimidating for some of us. Steve display more of dynamic controls and stuff. Often looks easy but hard to play still. A note of his can sing a song. Haha.
Steve is a geek. Really cool video.
Clever, very clever...
It's hard to imagine a better digitally made sound.
I have the hall of fame, can I get some chorus with the tone print?
Yes, there is a modulation parameter so you can go pretty crazy with that and get a chorusy reverb effect, no problem :-)
TC Electronic Thanks!!
Intro is menu music from Where the Wild Things Are dvd.
Good to be Steve Vai
Sustaniac pickup in his Jem? Steve is a Fernandes Sustainer guy..or was. I wonder if he is just trying different stuff or if something happened with Fernandes?

3:44
Devin Townsend: "Goddammit Steve...."
It would've been perfect if he winked at the camera after saying that
the house of vai!!!!!! :D
Steve...beautiful! You should have named it OCEAN MOON SKY VAI! Haha...Jk. Actually, I wish I had this Toneprint when I recorded that piece! I could listen to you noodle around all day... Much love, Donna
Does anyone know what Marshall head that is in the background? Just curious.
Cooooool
can i have one of your old guitar
You just gotta love how playful Mr.Vai still is, about playing and gear - "Holy shit! You can do anything with this now..." :) And little later - "no fuckin' way (smiles)"...
Holy shit! That's how you have to do a demo!
Hej Tore. I’m Danish but I write in English! - What is the big red pedal for? He was using it at the concert in Groningen for two weeks ago. I took close up pictures of all his pedals.
Can anyone tell me what his neck pup is?
look how many goddamn guitars he has!!
uma beleza, pena que eu não tenho esses equipamentos.kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk, vou fica no sonho.
Why isn't this tone print on the app?
When will the tone print be available on the mobile app?
My next Pedal.
I discover TC by search a Delay Pedal, and Tore demostrations made my decision.to buy TC pedals.
i have a question that's been on my mind for a while. Let's say i got the trinity t2 reverb pedal do the HoF toneprints work for that pedal aswell?
finally using the sustainiac
Jeg har netop modtaget mail fra Åge/4sound om sommerdeals. Sørmer om den ikke er til salg som demo. Haha, og mig, der aldrig har lagt mærke til den før.
Can this toneprint be downloaded for Hall of Fame 2? If so where.
Yes indeed! Under Hall Of Fame 2, there's a subcategory called "Hall Of Fame Reverb". Here all of the TPs from the original have been mapped to the new HOF 2.
How bout a link please. Thank you very much.
That's OK. It's good to see you're still feeling the love for guitar heroes like the rest of us. If you ever stop doing that, then quit. :-)
Great to see Vai... though the whole thing is very digital. I get that in the corona too, it seems like an across the board thing in TC's chorus. It's cool, but it's easy to get fatigue.
Satriani please!
is this toneprint gone? its not on their new software update. just his name but nothing comes up to download.
Wow steve started to use sustainiac!! Or just for size?
Fadhil Qayyum Steve's been using sustaniacs for a long long time
what settings do you have to have on the pedal if you dowload the steve vai toneprint ?
It's a Sustainiac pickup.
00:14 lol !! Vai is amazing !!
Do I need a TC Reverb to get this sound or can I put this Toneprint into my TC Flashback X4?
+Robert A nope you need a HoF
Thanks, I got one and love it!
What is the tuning??🥺
where?
Good reference to Devin Townsend!
My man, a question, Steve's Jem was scalloped? cuase it looks like it is but im not sure
Brandon Hurtado
It’s scalloped from the 15th fret on the treble side
it seems that someone heared some albums from his old singer
Just let me get this straight: TonePrint means "approved" and "co-tweaked" by the artist, but it's not the sound actually and continously used by the artist in the studio and on tour, right?
I´m still waiting for this Tone Print to be available on the TonePrint app on Iphone ? Wassup ???
Pretty damn awesome though :D
Hey, The biig red pedal is a Whammy pedal. :-)
I'm guessing thats steve's house their in?..Geeze"..all them guitars!..And a Marshall still?..
Buy the TC Reverb....trade the Boss for one of their 3 staple pedals...TU-2, NS-2 or FZ-2
wow... Vai using Sustainiac... hhmmmm...
Steve could make a 1 string Squier sound amazing
His studio looks more like a guitar store LOL 😂
Capa!
eyh steve !! what this glasses ?????
Well, Steve is the reason I got serious about playing guitar... so yes, I was a tongue tied to begin with. :-)
Ah, Steve, Ya Dev-iant! :D
