Nice video. This will probably be my first pedal simply because of the software that you can manipulate the pedal for any sound you want. You can get the "surf" drip on the spring setting with a lot of decay which takes out the dry signal. I've heard this pedal do Ventures with heavy drip.
the quality of the shimmer (an effect i generally HATE) + the highly-editable toneprints is what sold me on this. i'm just waiting for Prymaxe to get them back in stock !
I got a " shaker" to fill an empy spot, and i needed a vibrato for my studio pedalboard. Within 6 hours of messing with tone print i ordered a flashback 2 and a hof2. Got the shaker to do vibrato, chorus and a decent univibe. Im working on the flashback to make a " rewind" that only engages with the mash button, and the same idea but on the hof2 im going to make an ehx " freeze" type effect.
Hello, if you can help me understand TC pedals, I would really appreciate it. So from my understanding TonePrints are not presets, but adjusted parameters set by the artist. Does that override the knobs or could they still be adjusted? When loading a TonePrint how do the knob settings affect the TonePrint( for example, if I had every knob maxed out...could I only adjust the knobs backwards?) Do we still have to adjust the knobs to find the sweet spot or do we get the artist's intended sound at 12 o clock?
Thanks for the tutorial 👍 It seems that one could get lost for days in tweaking. My only worry is that, after a while of turning knobs, one might lose the original sound in his head and never get ready with this kind of forest of options
Well it seems this is an old video, they have updated the software since then, ...so I wonder if Ryan managed to make a toneprint that drips. RYAN! RYANNN He probably will never read this.... but the world is awaiting for your toneprint on the official APP.
I have yet to put in the time for the editor, one could just spend all of it on the editor if you have more than one toneprint pedal, my only wish is that the editor was accessible through mobile. Great demo of using the software, thanks!
FINALLY! A tone print video that is useful! Good stuff man! but I’m a tad lost within the sorta not so user friendly TonePrint editor... in your video you mention the mash controls. I use the flashback delay pedal by TC but the editor is the same. My problem is I cannot figure out how to set a certain delay (for you reverb) but yet set the mash to be a different mash sound. I can’t figure out which drop-down menu full of selections is the one that affects what the mash does. Like let’s say you wanted to use spring reverb but with room mash effect...pleaseeeee help me!!
That's a much better user interface than the current version. They got a lot more controls on the screen at once, in the version shown here. The list of templates was better like that too. When I try to scroll the list in the current version, I keep missing some out, and have to go back. There's only a few shown at once, which makes it really fiddly to look through them all.
I cannot even find the Tone Print editor software for the 4 knob Hof2. It just doesn't seem to be listed on their site. And the link from their pdf download is broken - of course it is! Anyone manage to actually find that software for Windows?
Hi, for ios devices App Store, Android Play, i think Windows must have a relevant store for apps. But they are very simple, made by or for various artists, not so complex as this computer version.
Hi again, the guys from tc are very sophisticated now. I could not find this old good software anywhere. You have to buy the Plethora 5 for 500$ to tweak the settings. I cant love them👎🏻
I'm guessing that combining the 3rd default toneprint with the shimmer won't be a problem when set via the editor? Meaning that the mash would control both the tone of shimmer as well as the overall output volume?
I do wish folks that do these reviews had the opportunity to study these programs in greater detail before they post these videos. I understand that it's very elaborate, but a little more experience with the device on your end might help us all make more educated decisions about the usefulness of the product. No disrespect intended. It's still a pretty good video and a great pedal.
Is it possible to put a high-pass filter on the wet signal? I'm using it on my bass, and the reverberating bass muddies the sound. I tried the Polara, and it doesn't muddy the bass but I don't think the signal processing is high enough quality because I can hear high-pitched ringing sounds when I play my B-string. I think I'm going to try the Boss next. Edit: I just assigned "LoColor" to the tone knob, so I'll see if that will do the trick, but that means only my preset will have that. The rest of the settings will still have reverberating bass. They should have added a setting that affects all the reverb types like how Source Audio has a slider for a high-pass frequency on the wet signal.
Reno Trader download the tone print app on your phone. pick what you want and hold your phone to your guitar pickups and click mash on your phone. super easy and fun but the noise of the mashing is disgusting
+Mr.Mundee Are you working with a TC bass amp? I don't think a TC bass amp will read ALL Toneprints, just ones designated for the amp. This HOF2 pedal will have both software and hardware specific to just itself. Namely, the amp won't likely have the hardware to permit the shimmer effect. I may be wrong, but that's my understanding currently.
The original HOF didn't drip. The reverb algorithm in HOF2 is basically the same, so don't get your hopes up on finding a drippy spring reverb setting :)
ThePedalZone I don't, it's been years since I messed with tone print though so I'm hoping I can dial in something closer to a passable surf sound now that I'm more experienced with drippy reverbs.
I guess the only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger on this is whether the shimmer can be set for a more sub-octave effect on the wet signal, like a walrus descent almost. Does anyone know if you can tweak such an effect in the editor? Because if you can, I'll be sold.
wow with the Toneprint editor you have a looooot of cool options, hmm now im really reconsidering buying the HOF2 than T2.And for 140€ I got so much sound.
60 Cycle Hum ty very much . I just picked up this pedal and your review was super helpful. Using it with my Fender bass and having a blast. Glad you turned me on to the tremolo feature
AUGH!!! Ryan, what were you thinking?! As soon as you dropped down the presets I was yelling at you, "Choose RetroTank! Choose RetroTank!" Then you're talking about surf drip and I'm still yelling, "Choose RetroTank!" and then *you pause over it* and I'm going, "Yes! Yes! Yes!" and you don't choose it! AUGH!!! If Retro Tank doesn't cut it, I think you should rattle the cage of TC and make them come up with the right tweaks. We'd have to think it MUST be there!
Well, if the first HoF was as far from the acceptable spring emulation as possible, what i heard in your reviews of HoF2 makes me wanting reconsider and give it a try
Ordered this pedal a few days ago, and it's here! I was wondering one thing though, does anyone know if the TonePrints from the original Hall of Fame reverb work with the HOF2?
This is an awful pedal that doesn't deserve to have the TC Electronic name on it (well the new TC Electronic maybe which is sad). I build pedals, guitars, and do mod and repairs on amps. Im not saying i know everything but i do know one thing for sure. This is not a good pedal at all. Go look at how many people are selling theirs and how many forums have swaths of post about how bad this pedal is. You can screw around with the editor all you want but the reverb is still going to sound fake and completely cold. It doesn't blend naturally at all. This i promise you. If you get this pedal you will think its neat for a couple months at the most then you slowly start to realize how terrible it is. The first sign will be the fact you never use it. The next sign will be the fact that you've had it long enough that if it could be made to sound good it would sound good by now lol. Just dont waste your time. TC doesn't deserve your money if they are happy putting out garbage like this. And i didn't even mention the quality control issues people have with the switches and units going dead early on etc. TC isnt half what it used to be. Id happily buy their old stuff but their new stuff is disposable planned obsolescence garbage. This pedal was designed to hold your attention long enough until they release the next one with new features that makes the old one undesirable not designed to last a lifetime and be a staple of your sound. If you're a beginner who wants something only a beginner would buy then look no further, if not then you only have yourself to blame if you buy this pedal after reading this book I've just written lol.
@@nomandad2000 Sound good enough that im inspired to use it. I only need ONE good setting not 10 DSP/Algorithms that sound lifeless and dont react to dynamics realistically. Im building my own reverb pedal as we speak. Ive already started it and ill probably finish it this weekend, im just waiting on a few more components and the enclosure. Its based off the DeadAstronaut Chasm but i made a few modifications and added a few things. Its still technically a digital reverb since it uses a BTDR 2H belton brick but since belton bricks are primarily just 3 PT2399 delay chips i find there tone to be much more musical and organic. The Hall Of Fame one and two is just a lifeless DSP reverb that is a cash grab for a company no longer in its glory days sadly. If i were an outlier that would be one thing but many many many people share that sentiment.
I remember a time when I felt my amp's on board reverb was all I'd ever need. 15 minutes ago seems like another lifetime.

Does this let you create reverse reverb?
Yeah, does it?
Not strictly reverse reverb but I think you could use the dynamix section to create backwards decay dynamics hence mimicking reverse reverb

Is it possible to replicate other pedal sounds via the editor? For instance, the Plate Mod setting on the Supernatural Reverb...

where to download the software for windows or mac?
can you edit the stock settings?
Nope, but you can use the stock as a template and edit that from there.
A tweakers delight! Lol
So do you have to download the tone app if you didn’t buy this new? I bought it used at guitar center.
yes
@@CBDM777 thank you 😂

Ryan, can you control the Toneprint software from a phone/tablet or does it have to be a computer?
Chris Rennolds not from a phone, but you are supposed to be able to do it from a tablet, I haven't tried that yet
60 Cycle Hum Thanks.
So, lets say you have a switcher like Boss es5 you can get two reverbs with different settings in two independet loops ?
Koen Roels oufff good question
dont think so, for that you would need to use a midi connection... only the boss rv-500 or the strymon big sky will offer you that
i have a question my bass amp is reading the tone print but the effects are not changing
Mr.Mundee I don't know understand the question, you beam the TonePrint through your pickups, not you amp.

Here are the Toneprints that the bass amps accept. www.tcelectronic.com/toneprint/toneprint-bass/all-bass-toneprints/

TC says it's just an octave up that they added.
you can have a sub and up octave it seems ... I want to buy this fuking thing so bad !
Its the best as of 2022

Grizelda Tezendra the song “Baja” by the astronauts

TAkridge boss Frv-1 and the topanga are my go too drippy reverb pedals. I have a few videos up
It's so Genial !!!!
Great but why Don’t you tweak a spring reverb to a surf verb vith drip? Or Ask TC to make a surf TonePrint with you 😀
