At age 60 in 2022. I'm still jammin and groovin to one of my fav groups! That old expression still holds true. Nobody's singing em like they did/do. There's no auto tune here! It's just a great song sung great!
Every individual in this group is a top performer so no wonder the group is outstanding. And this is LIVE!! The real deal of REAL singers. No electronic fix-up of half-talented people going on here. New Birth had it going on!! And I see Ann Bogan in the lineup. Before this, she was in the last lineup of Motown's original Marvelettes, along with the last two original members, Katherine Schaffner and Wanda Rogers, in the late '60s. When she, Leslie, and Melvin Wilson recorded their Love, Peace & Happiness LP, I jumped on it right away. Nice pro vocal work on there from all of them!!!
Robert Atkinson: Very observant, which is what makes this performance even more rare and impressive because Ann had left the group by the time they performed this on "Soul!", leaving Londee Loren the sole female in the group. Which is significant since Ann Bogan and the rest of Love, Peace and Happiness (Leslie and Melvin Wilson) did the background vocals on the actual record.
It's 2024 and I'm 70 and thrilled to hear this classic, the special moments I had with my beloved, ex were very memorable 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 and yes I said my ( EX )
There are NO words to describe how incredible this group was. This is pure soul music. Their voices (All of them) are so unique and powerful and against the supremely skilled band, they are a total package. I wish there was footage of Dream Merchant, but I'm so thankful for every bit of footage available. It's nauseating to listen to what these current artists are trying to pass off as "music," so thankful that we have this treasure trove of REAL music in the archives to fall back on.
Today is July 10, 2022. This is a great clip! Another good one is New Birth performing "I Can Understand It". Glad RUclips exists. This gives everyone a chance to experience the greatness of NEW BIRTH! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

If I remember correctly, this was the "re-birth" of New Birth, post Peace, Love and Happiness with other multiple veteran performers (Ann Bogan was one). You could say they were an Earth Wind and Fire before EWF hit big. Wilson brothers with Ann Bogan made any song phenomenal. This song was only showcased on R&B stations as the talent level would overshadow the top 40 playlists in 70-71'ish. Ann Bogan is very, very underrated and a beautiful person.
I’m as shook at 61 as I was in 1972-1973 when I first heard them. My goodness! 2024 and nothing compares to this kind of raw soul. Singing their hips off! Every one of them!
There are truly 17 people here who don't know sh*t about true soulful singing and lyrical art and heartfelt music. This is absolute genius in soul. 5 Stars for this performance.
As a little girl I listened to New Birth! They were one of the BADDEST groups of their era!! If you think the vocals are bad on this jam…Listen to this one…This is my favorite by them!! ruclips.net/video/VwdNLqezijo/видео.html
Wilson brother (glasses) on co lead, 100% pure Ruffin nuances, style and delivery. Fantastic performance and nice to see the criminally underrated former Challenger/Marvelette, Ann Bogan. Londee was phenomenal here. Maybe just me, I'm thinking when Harvey Fuqua first saw the Wilson brother (with glasses) performing, Harvey saw the not-so-subtle glimpses of David Ruffin in his style, enunciating (1:58) and persona, figured his girl Ann Bogan in there with the group could be counted on as a dynamic lead with an ultra professional female background in Ms Ann. If I recall correctly, Harvey was not enamored with Ms Londee for some reason, hence, he blended a former Challenger lead singer in the group. Had The Tempts been a male/female group, this may have been what they would have sounded like. Dynamic would be an understatement.
The guy singing lead is not Leslie Wilson. Leslie is the tallest man located in the center of the line up here. I’m not sure of the name of the man who is alternating lead vocals with Londee.
Now they can sing oh my goodness I grew up with this group and it's just like yesterday boy if I could turn back the hands of time they are fabulous 😍❤💯
I want you find and listen to everyone of their albums and you will hear voices and songs like you never heard before nor will hear again. Appreciate this music you will never ever hear voices like these and from the 60s and70s
Real singing. Grew up with all of their albums. Is the female lead the way be who lead “it’s time for you to go? As a child group groups like this shook my soul. Shaped my life in so many ways.
I totally agree. When I saw New Birth in LA In 1985 Londee was there with Leslie and Melvin. She sang some high notes too. Here is a big surprise: Londee Wiggins' official music video Falling In Love: ruclips.net/video/hfSz3HZS-SM/видео.htmlsi=VeIdw6ibY0Ew1pIq
This was one the the most underated group of the 70’s Them folk’s were BAD !! Tight ,Great stage performance !!

Love this group, they sound amazing together. I love how long she can hold a note, just magnificent. The whole group is so talented.

I can never get enough of this type of music/entertainment. I was born in 1970. It does wonders for my soul; brings back memories.
I was a teenager when this came out. Dang I git chills listening to this. She also sung on When it's time for you go. Her voice is magic.

I LOVED this group in the 70's as a teen. . And I STILL do. Not many others really can compare with the male and female leads.
What a great clip and a great memory. thank you!
Great song! At around 2:14 of this song is insane. I wonder how many singers can reach that range today.
