- Today we discuss whether the Batman Who Laughs Quarter Scale Statue from XM Studios is a Hit or Miss? Hailing from the Dark Multiverse, The Batman Who Laughs is the evil counterpart of Batman, a jokerized version of Batman who killed The Joker in his multiverse.
A deadly combination of Bruce Wayne’s tactical intellect, The Joker’s amorality and thirst for chaos, The Batman Who Laughs is Batman’s worst nightmare, a version of himself who has lost all moral code and ethics, unrestrained in his madness.
In this 1:4 statue, The Batman Who Laughs crouches atop the tomb of Bruce Wayne, a metaphorical representation of the death of his past moral code and the rules that once bind him, now unshackled. Within his chains, he leashes his 3 Rabid Robins, eager to devour and feast at the drop of a command.
Take a closer look at the base and you will see a hand reaching from beneath the grave, its wrists adorned with spiked bracelets; Dark Robin is never far away...

I think the SS one is way better. Of course the Prime 1 is the King.
The Prime1 version is definitely better and the most iconic of Batman Who Lsughs but this is pretty cool too.
Miss for me. I think the SSC 1/4 version is a better (and less expensive) representation.
I really like the portraits. But still a major miss. I’m not a fan of the half-bodied Robins. Either give them full bodies or don’t bother adding them at all. Or at least give the option to remove them.
Bravo to XM Studios for listening to the fans and doing more work tweaking the statue and making improvements. Also I believe those are wings Chris not a cape it is the Batman Who Laughs Sky Tyrant. McFarlane Toys put out a 7" BWL Sky Tyrant figure that I own. I think they did a great job the statue looks much better now even though I think the price is a bit high but such is life. I can't wait to see in hand pics from someone in the group who buys him. As a quick after thought I really hope Iron Studios follows XM's lead and they do some work on the portraits of their new 1/3 Harley Quinn statue. XM should do a version without the Robins. Thats the only reason im not ordering this but the batman is awesome. Better than P1

It's cool. I'm still not a fan of the wings. The Robin's are ok, still not quite sure why one is in the ground and their portrait doesn't completely blow me away....the portrait on BWL is well done. I'm sure it will be a big hit

I just Pre Ordered after watching your review! I love how grotesque and creepy this piece is. And the fact that its 1/4 is a perfect fit for my collection. Sideshow is boring compared to this. And P1 1/3 is too big. So this is a no brainer! LOVE that batman portrait. XM doesn’t disappoint. Awesome Review Chris

Honestly the Prime 1 and Sideshow does a better job. While i appreciate the swapouts, its a pass.
I think it is a really nice piece. I have read and watched a ton of Batman material and never read about the Batman who laughs yet. I just wonder how he can see with the spikes around his eye? Lol does anyone else think that?

Thank you for your review! I fell in love with this statue the moment I saw it, and yes I am a BWL fan. I did not see pics of the original sculpt, so I can't compare. I like the vampirish imagery, the cape as you mentioned, the size is good, and I'm not a Robin fan either but I think they sculpted and positioned them very well, and they are a central part of the Batman/BWL mythos so imo they go and look great in this statue. Like you said, this is a different style BWL than any other BWL statue I have seen so far. This, and BWL on his throne are the only BWL status I've bought as they stand out from the crowd. Just received this one this week (I'm in the U.S.) and looking forward to unboxing and displaying.
Miss for me. Got the P1 piece and nothing so far can compete with that one. Just sayin’.

I was waiting for this hit or miss video. Definitely a hit for me. That visorless portrait and the wings set it apart and made it a must pre-order for me.
I’ll be preorder this guy as I was waiting for a cool BWL it’s a great concept and I like it has extra HS and had to swap them over it was a good move by XM and did a amazing job plus being a 1/4 it fits my collection.
The Robins are horrible, they ruin the statue.

I like how XM added so much customization to the statue. All of the other Batman Who Laughs statues are similar so having so many weapons, heads, and wings add a way to make your Statue your own.

I believe the final product came out better than what was first proposed. The Robins are awkwardly placed and I’m not a fan of the paint app but the maskless portrait is awesome.

This looks alright but I think the Queen Studios Batman Who Laughs on Throne looks really cool. I'm sure both will be very expensive though. Might just go with Sideshows.
I love this piece. It is a great concept for the Batman who laughs and it looks amazing. What I am worried about is that because of its popularity as they sale out yet again. That companies are going to just make sculptures not caring about the concept, style or price just to make a fast buck. Be careful not to give out the impression that we will buy anything no matter what. Still this is a great not over the top Batman who laughs sculpt.
Its definitely a awesome statue but the prime one studios one is still the best one in my opinion to bad its sold out.
I am looking forward to the SS Premium Format Batman Who Laughs, this one is not for me.
It looks better for sure but still a pass for me. Looking forward to XMs Merciless and Devastator though. I’m more than likely picking up them from XM and P1 rest of the Dark Knights due to space.

might higher on it than I was. The Robins and Portraits look much better, great switchouts etc. thus it's most def a hit. That said I think I'd still go with SS despite its simplicity since the portrait is absolutely bananas!
Love it. So there needs to be a companion piece of a harley/batman amalgamation.
It's not a statue that I would buy for my collection but it is definitely a cool statue.

It’s definitely a hit for me. I was disappointed with the previous version but this newly improved one looks incredible. Plus, I like the XM interpretation of this character. Also, the fact that there are tons of switch outs is a big plus.
Its a miss for me. The other BWL statues are much better. i am not a fan of the wings, pose and robins.
Personally i would've spent the time and money on other characters that people want for years now but hey what do i know?

XM way overpriced $1100 for 1/4 scale doesn't come close to Prime 1 or sideshow in sculpt and art direction. Sorry not a big fan of XM Big Miss for me
Miss for me too….Prime 1 is still the best maker out there. Than the one offs that Queen and Infinity do. Plus…. Still way too many of the same statue put out by too many makers.
It’s a great concept but think Prime1 topped this.

I love it. I was waiting for a statue Co to give a bwl his wings.
I don't consider myself a big BWL fan.. BUT if I was to get one.. I will go with the SideShow BWL. I like that one.
I like that one as well because it highlights just him and not the robins!
Miss for me. There's lots of little things I don't like about him but I'm sick of the Robins, I don't like him with the wings or how hunched over he looks without them, not really a fan of the portraits. Lots of little things I don't like that I'm not willing to pay for. If there was a Robinless and Wingless version that was half price it might be worth it but I'd probably just get the Sideshow.

SS must be pissing themselves laughing at this garbage. Their BWL is a far superior piece compared to this mess. A guaranteed shelf warmer in the XM warehouse, massive miss.
Great review Chris. I’m an old school, traditional Batman fan, so this piece is not for me. However, I can still admire the amazing sculpt and artwork on this piece. Especially the base with “Wayne” on it. I understand why collectors would get it. Looking forward to the next review.
