I recommend leaving the 2x3s you used to space the shelves vertically in place, front and back. It transfers the weight to the floor so it isn't on the nails. Maybe overkill, but after a few years, you'd be surprised how much weight piles up on shelves like these.

2x3 's are great. lighter, cheaper, and usually just as strong as 2x4 's.

  • @Skashoon

Just ordered my stud nailer and compressor today. Anxious to start. Nice tip about the 2x3’s, thanks

  • @nootnoot-2

I'm going to use 2x4s because I can get them for free from work lol

You secured my sub and my fat finger pointing at Jesus.

  • @shrimpinpat

All the load is on the screws or nails might be too much force if story heavy items. You could put smaller boards on the inside frame if anyone plans on putting super heavy items on theirs. Essentially a jack studs or cripple.

  • @pjhutchersonschoolstuff7841

Yeap!! My brother made these for me in my garage & I Lov Them❤

  • @michaelwoodward2264

You can also use a hammer and nails. It might be intimidating and frustrating at first trying to get the nail but nails have a higher sheer strength than screws.

What is a good amount of height between shelves?
