It's just simple scraping plane. Great tool for removing machine marks frome wood surpace or for planing some crazy grains or veneers.. I hope you will enjoy it :)

I would like to get into building my own planes. How do you go about sourcing your blanks? I have no idea how to get quarter sawn blanks that are thick enough in almost any species, much less beach. My mill doesn't have any (unless I ordered a truckload and was prepared to wait for kiln) and I am not in a position to mill my own and dry it. Am I missing something? Thanks ahead! Also, amazing videos!!

One time, when i was stamping my marks i ruined finish on new smoothing plane. For that reason i do it a lot earlier now. For flattening the bed i use blunt chisels wich are sharpened on 90 degrees. All about it you can find on Bill Carter's channel ruclips.net/video/re_bp5Lp0To/видео.html

All of your plane are awesome. Only one comment related to the anatomical orientation of wood. If you take a look to the old British plane Made out of beech you will notice that they are oriented in radial direction instead of tangential. This is to avoid the Natural swell and shrinkage due to rh and temperature change over a year. Resulting in a stable sole.

Great build and really nice video! What type of wood did you make the plane from? I think I may have some of the same wood I found at a garage sale and have never been able to identify. Thanks!
