  • A day trip and camping at Hole-In-The-Wall Campground inside of the Mojave National Preserve in mid-July. This place is a lesser-known gem between I-15 and I-40 in the Mojave Desert.

    I was here on October 11, 2000 on a Wednesday taking a week off of works. I stayed the night here by myself and left at about 7:30 PM on Thursday without seeing anyone.I usually visit the desert with family and friends but I do enjoy camping by myself out here in the desert at least once a year, I just love the scenery and the solitude.On the way home on Thursday night October 12th 2000 I crashed my SUV on Kelbaker Rd. and become a quadriplegic.I have adapted to my new physical condition and still love and enjoy being in the desert.Sorry for telling all this but watching your video just bring back memory for me.

      Thanks for sharing your story Vincent. I'm happy you still enjoy being in the desert despite the life-changing event that occurred there. What happened to cause the accident? Did you swerve to avoid an animal and roll the vehicle?

      Hello...Yes I was avoiding a coyote on the road.It was dark and I misjudged my speed.My SUV rolled over the side and rested up side down off the road and I was badly hurt including a broken neck.The accident happened at around 8 PM and you know that not many people travel that road on a Thursday night but I was lucky that my car's light was still on and some motorists found me at around midnight.You seem like a nice guy that enjoy the desert as I do so I don't mind telling my story and answering your question.Nice talking to you friend.

      Wow man, there's hardly anyone there during the week, especially that late. You were lucky to be found for sure. I love the desert. I spend a lot of time in Death Valley, which is my favorite place in the world. I've been to many places but nothing comes close to the peace and solitude of the Mojave Desert. Take care my friend.

    Great view of the land in southwest! You are a great photographer! I liked the southwest when I was there in 2006! I was in Yuma Arizona and it was 85 degrees in March!

    Was here in June 2019. Made a wrong turn in the dark and ended up overnighting by the Fire Fighters camp. The temperature difference from afternoon to the next morning was dramatic, went from 93 to 58.

    Very nice video! It's a good idea to cross the park driving a mustang conversible?

      Kelbaker Road goes straight through the park, connecting I-40 at the south to the I-15 in the north at the town of Baker. It's also a newly paved road, so taking a Mustang is absolutely a good idea!

      That´s awesome! Last weekend i crossed the Joshua Three Park and Mohave in a Convertible Mustang. It was really fun. I really recomend to do it. But pay attention to fill the tank before cross the Mohave Desert, because there aren´t no Gas Station in about 100 miles.

    Are you allowed to target shoot out there?
    and if so, how far away do you have to be from the camp site?

    • @Prouisorsapientiae
      @Prouisorsapientiae  7 лет назад +1

      Target shooting is prohibited. Hunting is allowed and requires all necessary permits and gun transportation laws. This land is maintained under the National Park Service, not the BLM. Here's a link to the details: www.nps.gov/moja/planyourvisit/hunting.htm
