Backpacked a couple novembers ago and it was the most beautiful sunsets. Once I walked into the first couple dunes I didn’t see another person until I returned to my car. Wonderful place to get lost in
Very much so. And it's eerie when you find yourself suddenly alone and the silence presses in on you.
I bet you are still picking sand out of your stuff to this day. 😂
Great video! We visited the Sand Dunes last November on our way to Durango. We’re a bit older for sand boarding but enjoyed the views and no crowds. Would loved to have stayed in that dome AirBNB.
No matter what age the Sand Dunes are a great place to visit, we agree. We didn't sand board this time, but maybe in the future. It's so quiet and amazing views this time of year. The Airbnb was incredible and we can't recommend it enough 👍 Thanks for watching!
This place looks very interesting! I had no idea you had a place like this in Colorado!
Yeah, it's so strange to have a bunch of sand in the middle of the mountains haha
So this is where frank got inspired for his famous book dune 😄
THE SPICE MUST FLOW
Hello I’ve watched some of your videos. Tonight my wife and daughter are hanging out with me you make really great videos. Happy new year😊
THANK YOU! What a family activity! Maybe you can make some of those videos you watch a reality 😊
Happy New Year!
Hoping to add this to our road trip in 2024
Yay! It's such a great destination and like nothing else in the state. Thanks for watching!
Was just there with my lovely gf, free entrance on the 4th also
Oh great tip, thanks for sharing. Hope you and your GF had an awesome time!
No surprise another BANGER of a video alot of sand as well
Thanks, ha yeah it's a sandy place for sure.
It's an informative video! Great sharing.👍
Thanks for watching! Are you planning a trip to the sand dunes?
@@HashtagColoradoLife not sure yet. But we are planning to visit Denver next year.
@@TN_hpchen How fun! Denver is a great place to visit as it's very central to the mountains and all of the ski towns via I-70. You can't go wrong!
@@HashtagColoradoLife I am exiting already😄
I would have loved to watch the creators sandboarding!
Right! Such a cool experience.
Headed there in the morning- will be there next week, its been 20 years…..
Hope it was an awesome time! I bet it's nearly the same as you remember -- still mostly sand lol 😝
@@HashtagColoradoLife spent the last two days there in Alamosa, left this morning to New Mexico. The Dunes was magnificant! The scale of people out on it “ants’ with the snow cap mountains in the background!! The creek has about 6 inches of water flowing, great hike 😊
Is there a secluded spot for a purposal during the sky latern events? I have no clue where theyre doing it at
Oh how cool! There are plenty of secluded spots at the Sand Dunes. Pretty much just keep walking and you will certainly find yourself alone.
But if you are there for the Light the Night Sky thing I am not too sure. They might have people caroled so people might not be able to stray too far at night.
@HashtagColoradoLife ok thanks, that helps. I've emailed them about their layout and location however they haven't replied back.
Does it have a timed entry?
Nope, there isn't a timed entry but you can choose the days you show up!
UPDATE! The road to Zapata Falls in now paved!! Any vehicle can reach the trailhead. Yeah!
Yay!! That's great news. Thanks for sharing the update!
Can you please send me the link to this lovely geo dome?
It is in the description! Airbnb geodome www.airbnb.com/rooms/53726301
Thank you so much 🙏🏻🌹
wait, do they not allow driving on the dunes? if not then that sucks, pretty much the best part of dunes is driving on them.
Back in the early 80s you could drive on the dunes. But hasn't been allowed in a loooong while.
sand not on a beach strange no ?
Not really. Deserts are a thing.
Ever heard of the Sahara? Kalahari? Gobi? Sonoran? Rub' al Khali? All places filled with sand and certainly not the beach.
no dune buggies no fun
Why do you spend so much time talking about park passes, just buy the yearly National park pass and visit them all?
Good suggestion! But often times folks will only have time for one park or would rather spend all their time in one place.
