I still watch this from time to time to be reminded of how fortunate I was to spend time over there. We were in Building 1116 from 80-83, and then dad transferred to Rhein Main from 83-85. Both 1116 and Rhein Main are long gone now, but this video take me back..thanks so much for sharing it.
I was stationed there then. You drove past my dorm at 15:34. Still remember the room number, 320. Thought I’d never see these sights again. Thanks so much!
My dad was at USAFE 81-84, when I was grades 5-7. I recognized so many visuals on this drive:the chapel, old BX, theater, Jr. high wow. I never thought I’d see these again-only in my head! Thank you for posting this. The soundtrack was spot on especially Eye of The Tiger!! Perfect.
I was the playground monitor for the elementary school in 1981 during my lunch hour, worked across the MAC pad at 608 MASS.. Admin in the Enroute Maintenance building.. Wore that winter jacket with the hood that closes up in front leaving a small opening... the kids all called me Eskimo Man... lol
Thanks for the memories. I was stationed their from 82-85. We lived in Ramstein before base housing. I was Security Police so I worked the gate you went through. You also went by our base housing on the corner before the generals houses. Once again many thanks. Now we get the chance to show our two that were born in Landstuhl where they lived. May God Bless
I lived in the apartment building on the left shown around 24:12, just next to Generals Row. My dad was stationed at Miesau Army Depot, we lived on base around ‘78-81. Used to play on Canon Field on the right, and played guns with kids in the woods opposite our building. We used to sneak off base through the fence and go to the nearby town. Fun days. Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks for posting ! I was there 1985 to 1989 with the Army . Our barracks were right across from the bowling alley , motorpool was across from the north gym , and our TAC Park was at the end of the runway . I will share with my friends on Facebook . We all talk about how we miss it . Times at Fred's Lounge , NCO Club , buying all that stereo equipment next to Fred's . Off base going to the Starlight , Landstuhl , K-town , etc .
If I remember correctly my dads office (he was a Chaplain stationed there 83-87) was across the street from the bowling alley looking onto a field/parking lot.
I'm very impressed with the stability of what was obviously a gigantic video tape recorder that you used to film this back in 1985. Also surprising how much in Ramstein Village has not changed even to this day.
Was living in Bann above Landstuhl in 1985. My dad was a Chaplain in the Army stationed at Ramstein. I was 9 years old. This brings back memories. Thanks!
Thanks for the tour! I was stationed at Ramstein '[68-'70 and had a great time. The base has changed quite a bit but, I recognized some of it. Great job! Thanks again.
I was there 1971 to 1974, 26/86th SPS. Many of the buildings still look the same. I did the same thing with an 8 mm movie camera. The film has long since deteriorated. Thanks for the memories.
Grew up in Ramstein AFB, Germany since the 1980's before I moved to the Northwest Florida called Niceville. We lived 20 miles away from Eglin AFB, FL since the 1990's the time before I graduated from Niceville High School around 1997. My Dad was stationed as a Msgt since I was growing up.
