But, is a Caique the right parrot for you?
There are 3 things you need to know before you get one to increase the chance that you are getting a parrot you can bond with-
1 - Caiques are not ‘starter parrots’ - this means that they can be stubborn and hard to manage. Once you understand what Caique parrots are like and once you know how to train and handle a parrot, they can make a wonderful companion! You just want to make sure you don’t -due to a lack of experience - get bitten, feel like you can’t handle your parrot and then avoid them, creating a scenario where you are both unhappy.
2 - Caiques are super-social. Not only will they bond with another Caique parrot and take care of each other, but they will still love you, bond with you and want to be with you all of the time! One of the worst things for a Caique - really any parrot- would be to be left alone all day while you are at work or at school. Caiques can get very lonely, pluck and then not know how to bond with you. Keep a Caique parrot, preferably, with another Caique.
3 - Who would make a good Caique companion?
Unfortunately, probably not another parrot species. Caiques are fun loving and full of energy, but when they turn this on another parrot, they can be fierce. My Caique often attacks my Yellow-napped Amazon, even though she is three times his size. Caiques have no fear, which works to their advantage but to the great disadvantage of other parrots. I have not seen my Caiques ‘play well’ with others. So the best companion for a Caique is really another Caique.

I think you summed it up. My Caiques are pretty clingy with me. They get interested in other things but they constantly come back to me and want to be on me. Yes, they are stubborn😂.
They are so interesting because they are like every other Parrot, and so different too!
I have always like Caique Parrots. I have limit of feather babies. I feel bad birds owned by people who have to many and not in the living conditions and never any love and out of the cage time. Can a sun conure and yellow sided green cheek conure live together my boy sun conure is a lot bigger than my green cheek they kinda get along. I just don't want any of my babies hurt fighting. Yes, your son and green chic are very likely to get along. However, if you want to cage them together, make sure to watch them. I would put them in for small amounts of time first and make sure it is a cage that neither is familiar with so that no one owns the territory. Once they are comfortable and bonded, having them together will make them both very happy.

My ringneck doesn't talk yet, but he has picked up my Superb Parrot's call. Today was the first time he did it.
They are White-bellied Caiques, No distinction is made in the colors on their head.
