  • Bo Nix came to Oregon in 2022 after 3 up-and-down seasons at Auburn with the Tigers. His consistent success over the last 2 years reflects well on both the Ducks and Dan Lanning.
On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin looks at the Oregon players who most stood out during the Fiesta Bowl. Does Oregon have a need at wide receiver following the departure of Troy Franklin to the NFL Draft?
Oregon also had its first transfer portal departure following the bowl game in EDGE Jake Shipley, but Oregon's defensive line has plenty of depth for 2024. Plus, Oregon Men's Basketball coach Dana Altman has done a heck of a job coaching to this point in the season.

The better question wouldn’t have been about “what if” on Bo, but “what if” on Dante Moore. Imagine 2 or 3 years with a fully-developed QB under Lanning and Stein.

I am imagining 1 year of study under Will Stein and Gabriel. Donte may well be better allaround than Penix Jr by then. And grudgingly I gotta say Penix Jr. is PHENOMENAL at accuracy from 30 to 60 yards downfield. I'd take Penix over Caleb William's or Jaden Daniel's in the draft. Btw some team is going to be really surprized drafting Bo. Bo is the best at booting out and throwing from a sprint.

Ive been trying to figure out how to describe Tez's game, and I figured it out. He doesn't play like he's 5'10. I'm always surprised when someone lists his height, because the way he moves, the way he doesn't let people muscle him around, how he can lengthen his body, you'd think he was 6'1. He's not just a small shifty fast guy.

    • @kenstewart5991

Tez is looking more and more like a Tyreek Hill. Fast as lightning and NEVER drops a ball.

Jordan James reminds me of Isaiah Pacheco.
Not going to be super shifty, but once he finds a hole, he hits it and hits it quickly. Has good speed for a guy of his stature

I would even argue, that Oregon has been the Pac10 & 12s #RBU not just 20yrs , but for 40 years, straight up, thats not even a difficult stretch, if you are Generation X or go look up the names, history, & highlights available. I know it sounds crazy, but we had guys that were DANGEROUS & SAVAGE @that position that were like SUPERHEROES to me; i.e. Saladin Mcaulough, Ruben Droughns, Ricky Whittle, Maurice Morris, etc.
& Thats just a couple in the 90s that were electric boogeymonsters in the backfield for us & were always my favorite players year in and year out!
I cant remember much of the early 80s being born in 82' & such but... if you go back, we have Hall if Fame back Ahmad Rashad (aka, Bobby Moore, from the wildly popular show #NBAInsideStuff )
Yeah he was a standout Oregon RB and maybe one of the first to get this Oregon tradition going?! But our history with Running Backs, is LOADED WITH TALENT & back then even having A #Tailback or two, which are like our speedy , normal RBs now. Oregon is a cornerstone for having a tradition at that position, I think really sells guys to come here & stamp their name in history.

Ricky Whittle was a fumble machine. Really good when held on to the ball but fumbled it far too often.
Bobby Moore was a Duck back in the early 70s so it might be a stretch to call him the beginning of this run of Duck RBs. I believe he was even before they were all called running backs. I believe that he was a half back.

For Tez It would be a mistake to leave Oregon after having so much success and seeing
what 2024 is bringing. If he does go it will probably be to go home. I'm sure Auburn would like him.

Why is the next transfer portal opening in March? That is before a lot of teams have finished spring practice. It just seems of more use to have it after spring practice. Players might not know their status before practice and it might change because of that. Same for coaches not really knowing which positions they might need more depth that they would like to fill.

On the basketball front I’m concerned with the injuries. Having played the sport, the injuries are an outlier that is getting puzzling - perhaps a change to practice, weight room regimen or something to that effect. The last big I can think of who wasn’t injured frequently was Jordan Bell, and consequently (no thanks to COVID) the last Ducks team to make a run.

    • @LockedOnOregonDucks
      @LockedOnOregonDucks  5 месяцев назад

And it's not an offensive problem, the lack of depth with fouls and lack of defensive presence is what we miss most right now
Get them back and this team can make a run. Shelstad is special
