  • In the arid region of Presidio County, Texas, residents have been grappling with a severe water crisis for decades. With limited access to clean and reliable drinking water, the community has resorted to hauling water in trucks and trailers. Lack of resources and exclusion from government programs have compounded the problem. However, a 38-member steering committee has been formed to address the water infrastructure challenges and secure funding. The committee's unique approach focuses on equity, ensuring that every community's needs are considered. Their efforts could serve as a model for other counties in Texas and beyond, highlighting the importance of investing in aquifers and implementing sustainable water management strategies. With support, Presidio County aims to overcome its water challenges and bring hope and promise to its residents.
