- The long overdue review of the entire Persona 2 game duology. The next few videos will be focusing on the recently released Fire Emblem Fates. Hopefully I'm back on track for a proper video release schedule.

Rumor has it that Atlus forgot that these games exist
Persona 1 - Evil exists because four kids played a hybrid game of Four Corners, Red Rover, and Charlie Charlie.
Innocent Sin - Yeah... we played Ring Around the Rosey to conjure demons, and Hitler's here too.
*heard faintly in the distance*. Guten tag!
Shut up Hitler.
Eternal Punishment - Hey, remember the events of Innocent Sin? NO YOU DON'T!
TheY2AProblem ok Kid!

Did somebody seriously made detailed videos about Persona 1, 2IS, and 2EP? You earned a sub! I am saddened how barely to nobody ever talks about them because they're amazing games. I'm still upset Atlus didn't bring over Eternal Punishment's psp version that it drove me to import it. Persona 2 as a whole is my favorite. I like how it has an adult mix of main characters because I'm tired of the teenaged theme in many Japanese games. I'm not a fan of later games after Eternal Punishment because they aren't to my liking like not being dark as past games.
I'd kill for another cast of older partner members in any JRPG, worked wonders here.
Ricardo Contreras I heard the main reason EP persona wasn't ported to the USA on psp is due to translation difficulties and the encoding. But it's just a rumor
Burai Murian yeah I heard about that too. I bought the Japanese version almost 2 years ago. If it somehow gets released in a HD bundle with 1, 2 IS and 2 EP then yeah I'll totally buy it but the chances of that happening are very low because of the current fan base Atlus has developed over the years.
Persona 2 is a phenomenal game duology and its a shame that it gets forgotten among the newer SMT games. These two games are simply beautiful.
Ricardo Contreras true
"Describe Persona 2 dungeons in one word."
Me: PIIITFAAAAALLLSSSS!!!!!!
lol

Yes kids, Persona didn't start with 3.
Efren Arevalo I played 4, then 5 and now im going down starting at 3
Technically Persona did start with Persona 3. Persona 1, Persona 2 IS, and Persona 2 EP are SMT games despite the title.
@@muffetmissulena6540
...That's... That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.
@@muffetmissulena6540 Bruh, just because it has SMT on the cover, doesn't mean it's in the SMT main story.
It started with SMT If as a prequel for revelations persona or Persona 1. Myself played Golden and Fes first, then P5 and P3P. And now waiting for P5r.
The Eternal Punishment port was much smoother than the innocent sin port. While battles can drag, Eternal Punishment didn’t make you go through your whole party to adjust one character’s action. The ability to change the HUD’s color scheme was neat too.
As someone planning to play through all the SMT games (all the ones that got western releases specifically) in release order, these videos are fantastic.
Subbed.
Even though the game could feel a bit too grindy, I absolutely loved this game for the plot alone which perfectly encapsulated the bizarre and batshit insane nature of rumors and conspiracy theories. this was one of the few games which made me go wtf when I found out nazis and ancient aliens were involved because that really came.put of nowhere and was the point when you really felt that shit hit the fan, and I enjoyed every moment of it
Not sure that you can really call Persona 2 underappreciated since pretty much eveyrone that played the game - loved it. It may not be as popular as some of the tripl A RPG's but that's to be expected - jRPG's in general are a niche and if someone let's say "outside the circle" of jRPG fans wants to play one his go to title will probably be on of the final fantasy games or maybe Persona 3/4 (both of which I loved by the way). I think I'd use the word "overlooked". Given the changes between P1/2 and P3/4 - not many people even consider going back from 3 - which is a shame.
I'm sure there was a fan translation project of Eternal Punishment's psp version (I'd guess more than one even) and honestly this is probably one of the most anticipated fan translations that I'm waiting for aside from Trails to Ao/Zero.
PS.
I'm gonna start a group of assasins that will kill every single member of a translation group if they decide to drop the project midway - I'm really tired of getting my hopes up for no reason.
Thank you for reviewing my favorite persona in my favorite video franchise.
+cyncynshop Thank you for watching.
so persona doesn't start from 3....
*ITS START FROM 2!1!1!1!!*
Criminally underrated channel. Been watching for years but only now have I seen the disparage between views and subscribers. Y'all better support this mans even if he doesn't release stuff that often anymore.
thanks for this great review, really like the way you introduced this game. You included every important aspect so well that I plan to start this game over!
This is one of the few game series I've ever played where I haven't gotten burnt out on playing through one after the other. I beat persona 5 first, then 4, and just yesterday 3. I'm super excited to play persona 2 next!
Wow, as i plan about getting into the series, i was like interesting, now lets watch the next part, then realized that this came out yesterday... i'm subbed.... and starting the psp version of P1
ESTOMA SKILL!!!
As you said.
It turned to be "better" play EP(ps1) first than IS(Psp) after but the harsh difficulty is much more prominent in EP than IS.
If we had EP(psp) it would may be better to do after IS(psp) but oh well...
Nice review man! I'm thinking of getting both P2's
+benimo6 - ChristheLancer1997 - Awesome, if you do hope you enjoy them.
Thanks! Do you know where I could get them from? I searched eBay and the PSP copies seem quite rare and expensive...
I'd say to go digital, otherwise you'll just need to get lucky finding them in the wild.
Best persona games.End of story.Best story,best characters,best soundtrack.No stupid date simulator.
Eternal punishment is on the vita though for western markets on psn
It's the PS1 version that was available on the PSN store, Vita also has access to this.
Unless you are in the U.K.
man... you barely talked about eternal puinishment the one I was expecting
These games really need more love
1:58 Did anybody notice the power rangers??
I wish they could port these 2 games to modern consoles.
eternal punishment psp version is getting a fan translation hopefully sometime at the start of 2018. Check for updates here iwakuraproductions.wordpress.com/
Where is the other part? :( Looking forward to it :)
Do you play all the games for your retrospectives? If yes, how do you not get burnt out?
I'm playing tales of the abyss, which is a good game.. but i don't want to play another tales game for a long time.
Unless its Vesperia.
+Johnny Cage I do play each game I review, I also play a variety of games from other genres in my spare time as well. It also helps that I honestly just really like RPGs, some series I'm experiencing burn out, but others (like Fire Emblem) I can't get enough of.
I've never played a persona game before, and I only have a PS Vita so I can't get P5. I'm thinking about starting with this one over P4.
That’s kind of a bad idea since 1, 2IS, and 2EP, are pretty much drastically different games than 3, 4, and 5. 1, 2IS, and 2EP are more along the lines of a SMT game than a modern Persona game.
On a psvita ypu can play 1 to 4
Just stumbled across your channel and I'm really enjoying what I've seen so far! It's been bugging me though. what is the music in the channel intro (where it says "The Gaming Pilgrimage")? I know I've heard it before in a well known game like Final Fantasy or something, but I can't remember.
Glad to hear you are enjoying the channel! The intro has the title screen theme of Final Fantasy Tactics.
Thank you!
What is the name of the song used for the intro?
It's a remix of Maya's theme from the PSP version of Eternal Punishment.
Thanks!
So when can we expect a coninuation?
Great video! May I suggest you consider tackling Nocturne and/or SMT IV in the future?
+pokeytrev I will be covering those in this retrospective!
+TheGamingPilgrimage nice!
how does one play Eternal Punishment first?
I would say to use a ps1 emulator but if you wanna sell your soul to get a ps1 and eternal punishment then go for it lol
@@pkmemes01 No I meant how do you play Eternal Punishment before Innocent Sin, he said he did in the video
Burnt_Ramen 9 ohh lol I would tell but it’s a spoiler
+TheGamingPilgrimage
I liked the intro to the video, what was it called?
+Rashaad Couloote The SMT intro? That was a remix of Maya's theme (sorry for the late reply).
It's okay. Thank you!
I hope you'll continue this retrospective?
I will be, just caught up with work and summer semester. So it may take a while before it resumes.
+TheGamingPilgrimage I hope you do, your reviews give so much detail and explain the games perfectly. I just can't wait for part 4.
Well I just bought it
Wait but the story changes from one game to another? I mean Persona 2 Innocent Sin have a different story of Eternal Punishment?
EP(Eternal Punishment) takes place in an alternate timeline
Demi kids next I pressume?
+KAZ Sadly, I initial thought the next review would be Nocturne, but Demi Kids came out first.
TheGamingPilgrimage That'd be nice lol
unfortunately the only persona game that has really caught my interest is is number 5 which kind of sucks because I do not have a ps4 and probably will not have one for a long time down the road if I ever get one. It would be awesome if they got put on steam or something but, I highly doubt that will ever happen since I guess pc gaming is not a big thing in Japan like it is in other parts of the world.
+Killzone25b I remain hopeful that one day all JRPGs will become available through steam, eventually.
Yeah I hope JRPGs will keep moving over to steam especially the large rpg series.
+Killzone25b AFAIK it will be on PS3 and PS4. If you like JRPGs there are a ton on PS3 that would make the console worth owning, though admittedly recent many great JRPGs have been getting PC releases, on Steam and elsewhere (though there are definitely still games that can't be played elsewhere).
Oh I forgot they where doing a PS3 version thanks for reminding me. I do love JRPGs they are my favorite type of games that is why 2 years ago I got a 500GB PS3 slim. I got few games for my PS3 but, not many. I have Tales of Xillia 1 & 2, Tales of Symphonia Chronicles, Ni No Kuni, One Piece Unlimited World Red, and The Last of Us. I do plan to get Tales of Graces F, Kindom Hearts 1.5 & 2.5 remixes, dragons Crown, Demon Souls and many other JRPGs I am missing for the console. I will pick up Person 5 at some point when I have the money but, right now I am broke as can be because of being out of work. I wish Star Ocean 5 would come out on PS3 in the USA but, that does not look like it will happen. I was kind of mad when one of the creators was like Star Ocean 5 will probably not get a pc release and he gave a reason that sounded rather lame but, he does not have the final word on that so I am hoping it will do well enough that it will get a pc release.
sorry for the long repsonse. I got really into it lol.
Intro music?
It's a remix of Maya's theme from Persona 2 Eternal Punishment.
Name of the song at the end
+MajestyXXII Starian
Are you going to continue this series
I plan to, just need to settle some matters going on in my life now. Hopefully this series will resume in 2018.
Great
I'm subscriber number 6000 xD
