Persona 2 Innocent Sin is high-up on my list of favorite Persona games. This game deserves more recognition amongst both the Persona fanbase, as well as jrpg fans in general. Persona 2 has 2 games and the recommended playing order is 1- Persona 2 Innocent Sin 2- Persona 2 Eternal Punishment.

Great review, well done! This game and its sequel were really deep and mature, especially for their time. And as you've said in another video "it's a matter of substance over style". Still, it could use some improvements. We all know that the newer Persona games (P3, 4, 5) will have their share now that Atlus celebrates its 25th anniversary, but i truly hope Persona 2 finally gets more recognition. We can also spread a RUMOUR that Maya gets a present from Atlus this year!
You accidentally described the P1 combat system in the gameplay portion of the video rather then the auto cancel system in P2
The Persona game I want ported/remastered/remade the most, the story and characters are just that good, should they port this and DDS to PS or Switch I wouldn’t ask for much else
I am hopeful that they are going to do something for the 25th with P2 duology! DDS seems like its only a matter of time to me!

An amazing and stellar review bro! I been interested in trying Persona 2 Duology sometime soon however I have heard lots of good things about it! And thats great there is the feature of fusing spells in battle. That's one of the only good things about combat that was in Persona 3 👀 Great review bro!!! Keep up the awesome work man. 💯

I had never heard of this series before. I was not a fan of jrpgs at all. I recently got a handheld from my wife with various retro games and came across this title - I was not impressed at first but I gave it a chance and completely got sucked in.
So if I play persona 2 on the psp it's skipping the first part

This man has good taste!! The P2 duology is my personal favorite and is definitely a gem in the series that hopefully will get an HD re-release someday (soon?).

The game needs a remake in persona 5 engine, so that way the combat wouldn't be as bad and the game would look better, while they are at it they should also add some DLC quests to expand the story, maybe costumes so we can change into characters outfits from other persona games (God, i would love to play as joker from persona 5 in those games.)
@@zachh2864 Lol. I dunno... I can't even begin to imagine how the original Persona games would work using the P5 engine because they are just so different.
Combat in the older persona games is just traditional turn based combat with some fusion spells for added spice. But if you throw the P5 battle system into the mix you break the game since unlike P3-P5, party members in the older games can use multiple personas at will. Meaning you could just exploit enemy weaknesses unchecked.
Atlus announced 7 news projects for Persona's 25th anniversary coming up so who knows we might get a remaster.
Was introduced to the Persona series with P5. Currently playing through the series and I look forward to playing P2. Too bad P2 I.S. isn't available here in the west...just P2 E.P. via PSN.
Innocent Sin is also available on PSP & Vita if you have those systems! Hopefully Atlus brings P2 duology back for the 25th!

I don’t think I’ll play P1 or P2 unless they remake them to be more like neo-Persona, at least with the encounters. After playing SMT 3, I just can’t do the stupid high AF encounter rate. It was complete torture, lol, and the press turn system didn’t make up for it at all. Actually, I didn’t like it as much as the Persona system. I would replay SMT 3 if I didn’t have to fight demons every two steps, so I think once is enough for me, unfortunately.
Game of prophecy close to that now really occur in the world (mass hysteric, pendulum of events etc.).
thanks for reviewing this amazing game. Both innocent sin and eternal punishment has a special place in my heart. I hope people who haven't played this will give it a shot after watching this video ^^

Not Raidou, but the Kuzonoha from the original Devil Summoner (not released out of Japan) is possessing the head detective.

Are the portraits not Kaneko?
The portraits and many NPC character designs were done by Doi, the guy who made all the art from P3 onwards.
@@helenfotopoulou5125 Got it. I think Kaneko at least designed their concepts and looks, though, right? Or did he only do the box art and the Personas/demons?
@@SturgusLipmonger He did most of the demon designs, all the Persona designs, and all the main character designs. Doi reworked some of them in his own artsyle to keep things visually consistent. Cinematics are all Kaneko as far as I know. Also did the box art.

Wish they did, I would play even the SMT I and II games were they translated
