Ron Williams i’m not agree Diana was incredible and her performance deserved the prize BUT “Lady Songs The Blues” is a great movie but “Cabaret” is a masterpiece!

I agree that Liza tends to play the same type character over & over. Diana should’ve won - her range in that film (from teen rape victim- to druggy inmate- to superstar jazz singer) was phenomenal. Even some of the minor scenes, like when Billie’s passed over for the soap/radio spot, Ms. R shows instinctual acting chops. But Hollywood is political (like everywhere else), and Liza is Queen Judy’s daughter (MGM/Hollywood legend), so... Too bad Diana hasn’t had a strong, meaty roll like that since - (I love Mahogany, but it’s fluff compared to “Lady sings the Blues”).
