This is an instructional tutorial 5-string bluegrass banjo lesson teaching 2 VERSIONS of BACKUP BANJO LICKS for the popular banjo tune "Fireball Mail."
On this video I teach the licks -- first, high vamping then (15:03) roll-based backup -- within the framework of the song -- measure by measure, phrase by phrase, using on-screen tablature, then I put it together -- slowly at first, then faster toward the end, adding rhythm guitar overlays and on-screen chord prompts -- with a view toward learning the licks in a more general sense for use in other songs as well. This is by no means meant to be a comprehensive lesson... these are SOME licks that you should learn, in my opinion.
Hear this tune played with guitar rhythm backup (slow, medium, fast) starting at 15:00. Guitar chords are provided on-screen.
