Yes, I think we Xenoblade fans know. Why add the definitive edition to the title? That's very deceptive, and those who didn't play the original game wouldn't know if they didn't listen to Xenoblade music.

@@windygust2623You did. Riki says this first: "Ohhh, Riki Forgot!" And maybe a tad bit more after that, before proceeding with the line you replied with.
See I never realized why this was called “Beyond the Sky,” and why it played at the end of the game. Although it was impossible for anyone to know at the time, XC2 takes places in the sky, with it’s opening song being “Where We Used to Be.” Subtle, monolith.
I read somewhere that someone suggested the Ancient Ship's theme - the first dungeon of xenoblade chronicles 2 - is actually a slow melancholy version of zanza's (battle?) theme. There are definitely segments i can hear it. Given who and what pyra's connections are, this is very clever nod to her origins that can be more appreciated on a second playthrough. Her sword references two things at once: the monado from the first xenoblade chronicles, and the zohar shaped core crystal. But i believe her outfit also references the first game in that she has one X on her right breast; mythra has 2 . What I think it might be foreshadowing of sorts is the fact each have a pair of "wings", that ends up on "coffee with milk". Hell, addam's crest alone foreshadows her; the blade is broken up into 3; it follows the symbols used for level of rarity in the game itself: legendary rarity being 3 _gold_ diamonds. But the crest is never shown in color, perhaps foreshadowing the final form's weapon: colorless, unknown. Fire is a source of light. "Coffee with Milk" basically looks like a human artifice. God, I wish she got an official portrait in-game, in the menus, or that someone got a second affinity chart after unlocking her. Dagas shouldn't have been the only one
@@ShadowSkyX There are three forms of "pyra" (pyra, mythra and pneuma) as there are three monados at the end of xenoblade chronicles (zanza, meinas and shulk)
@@bdougui3951 Sad Malos is only shown having one Monado with only one form. Pneuma had two Monadoes at the same time, as one was hidden in Leftheria, and her Monadoes are shown having three forms (although it's arguable whether their first two forms qualify as Monadoes). Alvis is shown having three Monadoes at once, with a total of 6 different forms, and powering two opposing drivers in battle at once.
@@tecanec9729 There are only 3 Monados. Pyra/Mythra/Pneuma are one Monado, as each Monado corresponds directly to a Trinity Processor. Pneuma's Monado comes from her being the Trinity Processor: Pneuma. Malos' Monado comes from Logos, and Alvis is all but confirmed to be Ontos. There are only 3 Monados, all other Monados are merely branches or aspects of its corresponding trinity processor. Pyra/Mythra's corresponding Aegis' are both aspects of Pneuma; Shulk, Meyneth, and Zanza's Monados are all aspects of Ontos.

@@AstralXen I was just thinking that. That this is mythra's fall after torna and she and pyra wake up to rex and realizing he's their gift of light. Because that's what pnuema refers to him at the end of the game. Also "white all around us" and "moment of eternity" were referring to 3: the motes of life and aionos. Interestingly enough, jin embodies a small scale version of 3's concept. He froze Lora between life and death, while he lived a stagnate existence in misery, unable or unwilling to pass on her memories, to let her go. Even klaus was similar. He couldn't let go of the mistake he made, elysium was being preserved as a constant reminder of what he did. The conduit was being used to hold the place together instead the recycled lives of soilders. He embodied the well intended but egotistical dream to recreate what he destroyed. There is a legendary rare collectible in elysium called the Blinding Dream. For years I thought it a bit of story telling of how rex blindly believed elysium - his dream of reaching the fabled place - was real, but now I realize it's for jin and klaus too. Fear prevented them from moving on, prevented them from seeing the reality as a whole. They saw what they wanted to see, and freely.

Fully understanding the lyrics, it's about Shulk and Fiora. Now completing DE (I didn't play the Wii version), I cried at the end. Not because of the plot, not because of this song (maybe a little), it is because my journey with Shulk is over and I really enjoyed the story. I felt the same about 2 honestly. I spent so much time getting to know these characters and then all of a sudden my journey is over. Dont be ashamed to cry because of games bruh. As time went on, games evolved and learned to tell genuinely heart wrencing stories that genuinely change peopl for the better. Just look at games like celeste, or Brothers: a tale of two sons, Mother 3. And this game too. Its only natural you cry.

Arglas: Have you never thought about it? Never contemplated what lies beyond this world? Egil: Beyond this world? Lady Meyneth once said that aside from the Bionis and the Mechonis, this world is filled with nothing but boundless ocean. Arglas: But what lies beyond that? We are still young, and unable to leave the Bionis or the Mechonis. Say goodbye to our creators, our world. But one day our descendants will. They will leave this place and depart for new worlds. Worlds we have never imagined. By strength of their will alone. Egil: Leave this place? That is something I have never considered. However, it would be a truly amazing sight. Arglas: Egil. I wish to see that the people of Bionis and the people of Mechonis live in peace and harmony and take care of one another. I wish this for the future of our descendants. Egil: Yes. I, too, desire this, Arglas. Arglas gets his wish in the end. Peace and harmony for his descendants, and the beginning of them leaving their world behind for new horizons. Somewhere beyond the sky...
I didn't cry during the ending...everyone was so happy I couldn't help but smile and laugh throughout the whole thing. I'll miss the Bionis and the Mechonis and I hope we see everyone again in future games. Xenoblade Chronicles is such an amazing game, my favorite for sure and I don't know if a game will ever take its place.
That monologue is fantastic on its own, but it becomes even more powerful when you consider that one of Shulk's skill trees is _Pessimism._ That he, of all people, would say something so blatantly optimistic speaks volumes of his growth over the game, and is just one of many reasons why he's my favourite video game character ever.

I just beat this game today after playing it for over a month. This is, without any doubt, one the greatest games I have ever played. Everything about it is so well done, I am so glad I got to play it.
When a life meets another, it can cause strife. But eventually, if they can learn to accept their differences they can create something new. Shulk knew there would be lots of ups and downs, but eventually the world seen in Xenoblade 3 will become the world Alvis saw. All life will walk towards the future - hand in hand.
I've never played the original XC. I started with X. Then XC2 came out, finished that and I loved every moment of it. You can imagine how excited I was when the DE teaser came up at the very end of last year's fall direct. Finally got my hands on it and completed it. XC felt like a constant fight, with conflict in every corner. The gang never seemed to get a break, so when this song came up and I saw everyone trying to rebuild and live out their lives, I cried. I thought "We did it.. we really did seize our destiny." Not a lot of games make me emotional but so far XC and XC2 are the only ones that have to this extent. My journey with Shulk may be over but I'm really glad I got to experience this masterpiece.
So...spoilers.... Did you know in 2's dlc you can get the protagonists from 1 and X as blades? It's a challenge of course - custom difficulty exists with the dlc if you have too hard of a time trying for them normally - but they are among the top strongest in the game. To be honest, the entire dlc package for xbc2 is great and there's enough additions to ng+ where it's worth playing through again. Torna might've been heavy handed making sidequests manditory for story progression - the minimum requirement to progress to the final fight is pretty steep - but the finale is so worth it.
Endgame spoilers Honestly, that's one of the many reasons why I love Xenoblade. You can start anywhere and be surprised ehen you find out there's a connection. In my experience, I was like, "Oh, so Klaus is connected to Shulk somehow." and then I get to Zanza's awakening in XC1 and I'm like, "YOOOOOOO!!!! THAT'S KLAUS!!!!! SURHSARJSTUAJRA!!!!" And that's when I was able to connect the dots. So I'm actually very happy I played the games in the order I did.
It was exactly the same for me. I finished this game a week ago after playing it for around 2 months. I had already played Xenoblade 2 and Torna TGC and now I've also finished Definitive Edition and Future Connected and X is ready to be played as well. This series has caught me like few ever did
@@xenorayy It does not matter which one you play first, especially since the connection is only really apparent during the end game, aside from sharing some monsters, though XCDE added another connection through Alvis' redone necklace.
It would have been cool if they had Anna Hogg (the singer of the end themes of Xenogears and Xenosaga) do the vocals for this one but this one is still amazing
I've played many RPGS. But this ending hit sooo hard! Especially with this song it gives me the feels. I don't think any other game could live up to this... Except Shrek 2 the game of course
this feeling when we saw that Shulk, Reyn, Fiora and the others can finally enjoy life... seeing Shulk and Fiora just seat to rest after everything they've been through.... this ost in background.... one of the best endings in every games
Beyond the Sky, One Last You, and The Way Very similar vibes for each xenoblade game and after playing each multiple times I can say that this is my favorite game series ever, all 3 games give a sense of happiness that I don't know how to explain but that same feeling is in each of these songs
Same here. It was Etika that got me into the Xenoblade series with Xenoblade 2. Had it not been for him, I would have never discovered this great game. I miss him.
Obito same, he made me buy a switch. Just finished this game and all I could think about during the credit roll was how much I wish I could’ve seen him play this.. or how happy he would’ve been. My first memory of him playing xeno 2 when he was bloating about how much better shulks VA was compared to Rex and went on to play a couple scenes for us. I miss him so much man, I had so much hatred for the community back then but now I’m trying to be at peace. I sincerely wish he is resting well somewhere far and much better than here.
Obito xenoblade will always have a special place in my heart with Etika. It may have been the very last thing he played when he left his switch on that bridge. All I could think about while anticipating this game and then finally playing it was how awesome it would’ve been to see him witness this. Shortly before xenoblade 2 released I had a medical condition that had me lose my job and depressed in isolation. With all the time I had that was when I discovered his long hours of streams and felt I had a place of joy. For 2.5 years he was really integral to my emotional well being, he really meant a lot to me. Im sorry for venting want to get this off my chest somehow, I hope you find the same peace I’m looking for.
@@bobbyknockles5815 My first experience with the game was watching the Etika stream where he was at the cutscene in Spirit Crucible Elpys where Rex friendzones Nia lmao. At first I thought it was a dumb anime game but then I watched the cutscenes on RUclips and loved it a lot. That convinced me to get the game, and it is my favorite game of all time now (or at least in the top 3). My favorite stream of his was his reaction to the end of Xenoblade 2. That really was something else, and you could tell how much he enjoyed the game. I miss him too. He always had a way of making my day better lol. My favorite memory of him was getting the voice actress of Mythra to say "Etika likes Minecraft", and when he reacted to it on stream, I was blown away. I'm happy to have watched his stuff lol
This is my first Xenoblade game & honestly it's one of the best game i've ever played. Still remember when i heard this song at the end, i was at near the edge of crying, it's been a long journey & it has come to an end. There will always be a special place for this game in my heart.
Listening to this again after finishing Torna, it hurts, man. I wish Jin and Lora could’ve had the same happy ending that Shulk had. It hurts so bad I can almost physically feel the pain. Xenoblade is one of the few things that make a grown person cry, and I am not complaining that it made me cry the amount of tears that I cried because they are worth it. Shulk and Fiora are worth it. Rex and Pyra and Mythra are worth it. Jin and Lora are worth it.
I just got done finishing the game from the Definitive Edition and I genuinely love this game. As someone who didn't got much about the series besides Shulk in Smash and the contents they had for it. I grew to really respect and admire the game for such a great story, characters, the gameplay and especially the music (such as this song) is nothing short but beautiful and epic. After playing this game, I now grew to understood the appreciation and love this game truly brought upon many when this came out. Now I truly am a fan of this game. 💖
I just finished this game today at 2:00 AM and WOW!!, it was simply perfect, I've never played something quite like this, "a truly beautiful masterpiece/10"
Whenever I replay a Xenoblade game, I always avoid listening to the ending songs. Then when I get to the end, the payoff is amazing. I just finished the game for the 7th time today. Never fails to make me cry.
Honestly one of the best ending songs I've ever heard in a video game. I remember crying tears of happiness when I watched the ending for the very first time. Xenoblade Chronicles is a game that really changed my life and will always be one of my most favorite games of all time.
Having 100% completion in definitive edition, I will say that this is my favourite game of all time with only persona 5 royal even coming close. This song continues to bring tears of joy every time I hear it. My favourite song in my favourite game. Xenoblade Chronicles is an unforgettable masterpiece
I legit started SOBBING when this started playing. I'd heard the song before, but it caught me completely off guard and I was in tears for the rest of the ending.
*SPOILERS* I honestly got really worried when Fiora told Melia about her limited time with the Mechonis body, I thought she was actually going to die a second time, and for real. I was so happy during the ending when it showed her in a Homs body again.
If you want to know how Fiora got her body back: There was a chapter which was cut from the game, in which the group discovers an ancient High-Entia regeneration device in the ship that had crashed in Colony 9.
@@GP996_LB There was an artbook released for the game which explains what happens. If you can't find it yourself, Chuggaconroy featured it in Episode 119 of his XC1 Playthrough.
Been a bit since I had finished Xenoblade Chronicles, as I am typing this, I am currently getting close to XC2's ending Before I really got into Xenoblade, I got bits and pieces of this game spoiled to me because I didn't really expect myself to play the game, Then XC3 got announced and it led me down a spiral in which I eventually got both XC1&2. I began playing XC1 and went through all the stuff and I was more on the side that the game was really good but it still hadn't taken my heart, Then comes that first visit to Prison Island and INSTANTLY the game hooks me in! I had known that Fiora wasn't dead when Metal Face killed her at Colony 9 but I wasn't expecting that it would be revealed the way it did, I remember thinking that I reached the part of the game I didn't know about, I was absolutely right, It was amazing, I started connecting dots and when certain points of the plot were revealed I absolutely freaked the heck out! I was constantly just second guessing myself on whether this game was my favorite game of all time, I eventually decided that it indeed was my favorite game of all time. Despite knowing a lot of the super major story points, the story still managed to fan the flames of Excitement, usually Spoilers would ruin the experience of Video games, Movies, and Shows for me, Then here comes Xenoblade Chronicles still managing to become my favorite game of all time even though I had plot knowledge going into the game! (I also cried a lot, during the game and while making this comment, I just really really love this franchise)
I was kinda scared they would change this one, so glad they didn't, it was perfect already. I love all the redone music, but anything they could have done to this would have made it worse.
they didn't re-do any songs that already was orchestrated in the original, as all the orchestrated remixes of the other songs are because the Wii version had those songs as MIDI.
@@drakath5727 this is only half true, tracks like time to fight! and colony 9 were re-recorded, despite already being orchestrated. the colony 9 theme is alright, but i hate what they did to time to fight! they made the violin so overbearing, it doesn't let the song breath
I was so close to crying, #1 Xenoblade song, next to One Last You. I loved the ending, but I was sad knowing that it was the last time I'll experience this game again.
One thing that could have made this ending even more wholesome would be a reflection of the party from XB2's ending cutscene on Elysium in Alvis's eyes when he talks about how the world Shulk made is full with many different people with infinite possibilities.
that wouldnt have made sense because rex and crew are not in the world that shulk remade. Alvis doesnt even know they exist, he thinks everyone on earth is dead.
*Spoilers for the after credits of both Future redeemed and the main game* Knowing that eventually the worlds merged properly, and that Mio and Noah were seeminly reunited, potentially in a new world were both the people of Bionis/Mechonis and Alrest truely got to walk together hand in hand, this song really hits harder than ever, especially those last lyrics: "I know it now, beyond the sky There's new place you'll see I came to you to share our dream together I won't let us part, there's no place to be My heart is with you, forever and ever"
I remember watching chugaconroy's lp of this back in the day and while I'm only a slight bit in progress wise this is the first game that I have ever pre ordered
Xenoblade Chronicles is my #1 favorite video game of all time. I remember playing this on the New 3DS and it holds a very special place in my heart. The characters are amazing with great voice acting, amazing setting, memorable story, flawless music, moments that made me feel joy, laughter, and sadness, tight gameplay and so much more. Thanks to Definitive Edition, I love it even more than ever. Xenoblade 2 is also my 2nd favorite games of all time. Everything I said about the 1st also applies to the 2nd but the 1st is a little better. I'm grateful that Monolith Soft made these 2 lovely masterpieces. Here's hoping that they will astound us yet again with either the remakes of Xenogears, Saga trilogy, and XC X, or a new Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
I think 2 had some bad voice acting, and really dropped the ball with the combat system honestly. I think XC1 is a 9/10, and XC2 is like a 6/10 for me.
I just noticed recently that Xenoblade Chronicles has now been on every Nintendo system since the original release on the Wii! The Wii, Wii U, 3ds, and now the Switch. I never dreamed that this game would be on four systems! People had to beg to get this game to release outside of Japan, and it only just barely made it, having a limited number of copies exclusive to Gamestop, and now It's become a pretty big series and getting Nintendo's attention! Xenoblade Chronicles has come so far! I've never been happier to be an original fan of the series!

I got something similar. Within my favorite games, there are only ever few that are so beloved to me, that any one of them came be called my number 1. First it was Halo Reach. Then came Transformers: Fall of Cybertron two years later. Another three years pass, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time gets added. Then things went slow till 2020, when I got a Switch Lite and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. About half a year later, Fire Emblem: Three Houses comes into my life, and I felt my top 5 was definitive. Untouchable. Nothing would ever come close(except maybe that BotW sequel). But come just under a year later, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition did the impossible and broke into my top 5. Now while my order is technically 6. Fire Emblem: Three Houses (kept me calm when I had covid) 5. Halo Reach (first story driven game) 4. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time(most perfect game to me) 3. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition(favorite story and (possibly)soundtrack) 2. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron(best game in my all time favorite THING) 1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild(helped me deal with a breakup) You can point to any of these 6 games and ask if it's my number 1 favorite, and I'll just nod my head saying "Yep. That's the one."

See I never realized why this was called “Beyond the Sky,” and why it played at the end of the game.
Although it was impossible for anyone to know at the time, XC2 takes places in the sky, with it’s opening song being “Where We Used to Be.”
Subtle, monolith.

Shulk and Fiora's love song.
I swear all the Xenoblade ending themes foreshadow the next game

Wow, these are kinda similar to Drifting Soul, only answered
Each time you slayed a face unit, you killed a homs who forgot themselves, each time you purged a telethia, you murdered a high entian who forgot themselves, each time you killed a monster upon Bionis, you fed Zanza's return, each step you took, all culminated in the choice of an entire universe within a long lost algorithm.
@@Zennithu the singing really makes a difference though. Wasn't a big fan of drifting souls, but I LOVE this one
@Josephine Allison, Tetsuya Takahashi: the creator of Xenoblade.
I thought "We did it.. we really did seize our destiny."
Not a lot of games make me emotional but so far XC and XC2 are the only ones that have to this extent.
My journey with Shulk may be over but I'm really glad I got to experience this masterpiece.
@Josephine Allison I WILL BOTHER YOU FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE UNTIL YOU PLAY IT AGAIN
That's actually the same xenoblade journey I had and now all the Xenoblade games are my top 3 games ever

I just finished the game last night. So many feelings. Without a doubt one of my favourite JRPGs of all time now!
Coming back here after 3 being announced, LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO
I started with Xenoblade 2 and played 1 for the first time ever through Definitive Edition. This song describes exactly how I feel about the series.
Wish you got to play XC1 first, trying to figure out the connection between the two games is the fun of XC2 but I'm glad you still enjoyed them!
Endgame spoilers
Honestly, that's one of the many reasons why I love Xenoblade.

Shortly before xenoblade 2 released I had a medical condition that had me lose my job and depressed in isolation. Listening to this again after finishing Torna, it hurts, man. I wish Jin and Lora could’ve had the same happy ending that Shulk had. It hurts so bad I can almost physically feel the pain. Been a bit since I had finished Xenoblade Chronicles, as I am typing this, I am currently getting close to XC2's ending
Before I really got into Xenoblade, I got bits and pieces of this game spoiled to me because I didn't really expect myself to play the game, Then XC3 got announced and it led me down a spiral in which I eventually got both XC1&2. I began playing XC1 and went through all the stuff and I was more on the side that the game was really good but it still hadn't taken my heart, Then comes that first visit to Prison Island and INSTANTLY the game hooks me in! One thing that could have made this ending even more wholesome would be a reflection of the party from XB2's ending cutscene on Elysium in Alvis's eyes when he talks about how the world Shulk made is full with many different people with infinite possibilities.

"And we'll meet them with open arms."
Imagine XB3 is a crossover between 1 and 2
Probably Ontos will meet Pneuma in another disaster.
With 3 Aegis ;)
@@williamloja5428 imagine malos become 3rd protagonist sword and shulk back with alvis as his driver/monado

Just completed this masterpiece
Nice. And indeed, it's a masterpiece!
I cry every time I hear this, and watch the torna ending. There is no time I've experienced either where I don't cry.
What was he cooking?
Songs that make a grown adult cry.

Any human being here that didn't cry at the end when this started?
No?
Thought so.
my favorite rpg and my 2nd favorite game of all time.
i regret not checking out this series sooner.
What a beautiful way to end off a game that is the only game I will ever give the title of: “perfect”.
This song is so beautiful. Sarah Alainn is totally my most recent musical crush.
one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard
Alvis WTF?
This is up there with Forever from Rodea the Sky Soldier as "songs that totally aren't Christmas songs but will forever make me feel Christmassy due to their slow, cozy feel and because I played the game they're from in late November and December"
I love the song but I can’t listen to this without being so damn sad that I ever finished the game and stopped playing
ok hear me out...this song plays at your wedding
lmao just sent this song to my girlfriend with these exact words
@@armandsilva I better be invited :p
This song was excellent before Future Redeemed, now after finishing FR, it's a beautiful masterpiece!
For DECADES my RPG Olympus Mons has consisted only of 4 games: "Lufia - Rise of the Sinistrals" on the SNES, the first "Grandia" on PS1 as well as "Final Fantasy VIII and IX"....not even a marvelous masterpiece as "The Witcher III - Wild Hunt" has made it op there, it stood on Olympus on Earth.....
......I just finished "Xenoblade Chronicles 1" a few months ago and now it makes the 5th game that has reached these stellar heights for me
I got something similar. Now while my order is technically
6. Fire Emblem: Three Houses (kept me calm when I had covid)
5. Halo Reach (first story driven game)
4. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time(most perfect game to me)
3. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition(favorite story and (possibly)soundtrack)
2. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron(best game in my all time favorite THING)
1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild(helped me deal with a breakup)
You can point to any of these 6 games and ask if it's my number 1 favorite, and I'll just nod my head saying "Yep. That's the one."
“That’s our world.”
This is my favorite game of all time. It has so much meaning to me. Although I was dealt a pretty shitty hand in life, I defied my fate and rose above it just like Shulk did. And things have come full circle where I’ll be able to dance to this song at my wedding ❤❤❤
“I don’t know what the future holds. But that means I can imagine the possibilities. We can achieve anything we put our minds to.”
A moment of silence for the people who haven't heard this yet because they haven't finished the game.
nah, they have still have the rest of the game in store, it's more sad when you beat the game, and come to the realization that you will never expirience xenoblade for the first time ever again. (sorry for necropost)
