The soprano screaming at THAT PART was frightening. In a good way. I listened to the new songs before playing the game, and I didn't expect it to work quite as well as it did.
Can we all just appreciate the singer rending her lungs to give this song the performance it deserves for a second? Edit: people seem really split up about the vibrato. I personally appreciate it and feel it lends more gravitas to the song, but I'm also happy we have both versions available with each version's unique take on the material - the same way I feel about the remaster vs. the original in general.
The issue is that in cutscenes where the song starts in a cutscene but ends during a fight, it can be toggled. In cutscenes where the song starts and ends within a cutscene, it's stuck as the new version with no way to change it. i would also disagree that it adds more gravitas, as the new vocals just sound goofy and out of place to me.
I'm gonna assume the line "Your sword...it did not cut deep enough" is gonna be for this game what the line "You should've aimed for the head" was for Infinity War?
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 got announced today. Had to come back and listen to this theme that changed everything in this amazing game. Hope we get another theme like this in 3!

Whenever it starts to fade from my memories how great this game is, how much I love it, the experiences I've had with it.... This song alone... its enough to remind me, to bring me back... I will NEVER forget this game.
Honestly, everyone focuses on Zanza's release and Fiora...but this song really sticks out for me in the Ether Mine when you find out you're too late and everyone in Colony 6 is dead, and at the time we thought Gadolt was too. Sharla absolutely losing her shit as the party desperately tries to bring down an invincible enemy is definitely one of the more powerful moments to me. Sharla has lost so many people, and even though this song doesn't play during Otharon's major contribution, which I believe is the only time an NPC does a damn thing for the party that means anything... Xord definitely stands out in my mind for how he was something you wanted to destroy because he was just a monster. And even when he was thrown in the river and you thought you won, he still came back. That area seems really underappreciated to me personally
After playing through the game I can’t listen to this song without getting chills. I have such an admiration for the composers of this song and the people who wrote the story to create something that gets such a physical reaction out of me every, damn, time.
I love how just enough of it was changed for it to feel fresh and reinvigorating, but not so heavily altered that it's not the same track we already fell in love with.
As much as I love Counterattack and The Weight of Life, the feeling of dread and tension when that first sound of Engage the Enemy appears out of nowhere is inimitable. Whereas the latter two were undeniably "badass moment" songs, you never know with Engage the Enemy.
I also love how with Engage the Enemy, it actually syncs well with the scene that it initially plays within. The Weight of Life is a good song, but it feels like they just kind of slap it over scenes in the game, instead of like.. having it sync up with what's going on. In 1, Engage the Enemy fits perfectly with everything that goes on in the scene. Every moment is timed to a moment in the song which makes it feel even more effective, and pushes that desperation that exists. It embodies Shulk unable to do anything, and all cumulates him him screaming at Metal Face.
The first instance I got to hear this track is BY FAR the most shocking moment in any of the games I've played. Never went through 5 stages of grief faster in my life lol this game is absolutely wild.
Jesus Christ I can not get over how powerful and striking the bit where the singer holds onto that note for so long. Like you are reaching a breaking point in your sanity and given when these songs are used is really appropriate.
Easily my favourite OST in the game! Everytime we hear it it's in a big and emotional scene, and it fits perfectly! I've probably cried multiple times while playing just because this was playing

Since this plays during cutscenes, it’s more accurate to say the real one goes:
*I’LL KILL YOU!!!!!!*
There should be an update that let us choose which ver of each song
The issue is that in cutscenes where the song starts in a cutscene but ends during a fight, it can be toggled. In cutscenes where the song starts and ends within a cutscene, it's stuck as the new version with no way to change it.
i would also disagree that it adds more gravitas, as the new vocals just sound goofy and out of place to me.
@@TheHueOfHues to each their own. I concur on the point of implementing universally-working soundtrack toggle, though.
I'm actually not a fan of the vibrato. Kudos to the singer, but I feel it cheapens the song.
It's good if you know literally anything about music. It's so impressive.
Part of this song was in the latest trailer for 3!!!
Immediately followed by a part from counterattack I'm so hyped
I'm gonna assume the line "Your sword...it did not cut deep enough" is gonna be for this game what the line "You should've aimed for the head" was for Infinity War?
Absolutely.
I like how he says it while his sword is very much impaling him and sticking out the other side
basically, except xenoblade is better😂
*Xenoblade Chronicles 3 HYPE!!!!*
Wonder what song will be that games Engage the Enemy/Drifting Soul

Yeah sex is cool, but have you ever played Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition?
Why does that work so well?
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 got announced today. Had to come back and listen to this theme that changed everything in this amazing game. Hope we get another theme like this in 3!
So how's the "Weight of Life" doing it for you?
I have never played this game in any capacity. I simply know this song through smash. But this remaster has to be one of my top 5 favorite video game songs of all time
Give it a try if you can!
Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
@@JOEVGM Would you recommend the original or definitive edition personally?
@@VerbDoesStuff Definitely Definitive if you can! The new QoL stuff makes it much easier to get into, and the presentation and menus are top notch. So far it makes the original honestly much tougher to go back to.
@@JOEVGM Okay, I will get to it when I have time!
The "somebody might die even though shulk had a vision like, eight times" theme

2:00 actually gives me chills everytime. Love the Counterattack melody!
God the music in this game is just incredible. I swear jrpg music is just next level
"Can't you hear the music?! That's Engage the Enemy! Every Xenoblade character knows that means death! Hurry Fiora, the music's getting faster! Stop playing that music! STOP IT, PLEASE!!!"
_Cutscene starts and about to fight boss._

Can only hear Shulk screaming to this now.

Ace.
First time playing the game on definitive edition and this song already gives me the chills
I started the game recently (I've finished Prison Island) and this ost is so fucking incredible
Everytime this song plays ... chills
Important character: about to die. This song: *HELLO THERE*
I see a great future to this RUclips channel

@@EgotisticalAltruist that's the joke my dude
That’s the joke dumbass. Shulk changes futures he doesn’t like.
After playing through the game I can’t listen to this song without getting chills. I have such an admiration for the composers of this song and the people who wrote the story to create something that gets such a physical reaction out of me every, damn, time.
The guitar solo in the beginning and the vocal near the climax give me physical chills every time
We reached 1 million, huh...
Good job guys, I'm proud of you!
Finished this game yesterday....I feel honoured to contribute to the views somehow
I love how just enough of it was changed for it to feel fresh and reinvigorating, but not so heavily altered that it's not the same track we already fell in love with.
The beautiful sight of this song hitting 1 million views!
And here it is, the BEST version of this masterpiece of a song!
"Too much... the Monado is too much!"
I just finished the game last night and I found it. My favorite song!
The first time I heard this in-game it had a lot of weight behind it, because of THAT scene.
Reaching the end of the ether mines, but you suddenly realize you can’t fast travel.
*OH NEPTUNE*
Did anyone else come back to this after hearing Xenoblade 3s Weight of life and wanted to come back to the original tear jerker OST.
The first instance I got to hear this track is BY FAR the most shocking moment in any of the games I've played. Never went through 5 stages of grief faster in my life lol this game is absolutely wild.
"I see you've inherited Meyneth's powah!"
You know some crazy emotional shit about to happen when this plays in a cutscene.
Coming from XC2, I can see where they got the idea for Counterattack from
can't wait for Xc3's own Engage the enemy/counterattack
Can’t believe it’s been a year.
