Would you please ask Jason if he has experienced a sudden rush of emotions to the point that a song or a movie can cause him to burst out crying? Or if he has a hard time concentrating while driving. I also wanted to thank you for sharing your story it has opened my eyes and has helped me realize that my Ex- husbands behavior isn't just because of his Alcoholism , but I now see him exhibiting every one of the symptoms that Jason has experienced and quite few more that terrify me putting himself as well as others in danger. And I don't know how to get him help. We were married 26 yrs and have been divorced for almost 15 yrs and have managed to remain friends for over 61 years but because I am no longer married to him his Doctors at the VA can't even speak to me about him or advise me as to how to get him the professional help that he needs. I've tried and the kids have tried to talk to him and to help him but nothing seems to help he promises to talk to his Doctor but then doesn't the last time we spoke he went off yelling telling everyone to leave him the hell alone as he stands naked wearing only his white tube socks and black Croc's at my front door. Breaks my heart.

While this is so incredibly sad (my dad is currently in memory care with dementia at age 70, started showing signs in his mid 60's), you two are absolutely adorable, managing things with such positivity and honestly, if you hadn't told us, I would not know that Jason is sick. Stay positive. :) Thanks for sharing your journey. I'm certain it's helping others that need it.

I appreciate you both so much for sharing your story. I just found the first video and had to write you. I have been caring for my mother for a few years now. It is a different situation but kind of the same. She was very ill for three years and she lost her memory and didn't recognize me because (I think) she doesn't remember me at 60 years old. She kept asking where her daughter was. I understand how hard it is to remember and catch ourselves in trying to talk to them like we always have. And like you said we can't do that when they are not themselves. I am fortunate that her memory has returned but her health has declined because of all the UTI's she had that caused the memory problems. I am not a nurse but I sure learned a lot and was able to handle more than I thought I ever could. I also learned more patience than I ever thought possible.
I wish you well and I am glad you have family you can talk to about this. I don't and I know how hard it can be. I pray for you both and wish you well. Again thank you for your story. I believe there are a lot of people that are in the same spot and know what you are going thru. When it gets hard try to remember we are behind you.

I can see why you fell in love with your husband...handsome, smart and a great sense of humor too! I also wanted to share some info with you. I have arachnoiditis due to spinal surgeries and countless spinal taps. The pain from mid-lower leg down to the feet feels like thousands of red ants biting all at once. And often my muscles in my ankles and feet/toes would cramp into horrible painful knots, to the point that i couldn't walk. The neurologist prescribed Gabapentin which lowered my pain level to a low scream. We tried several things and finally came to the combo of Gabapentin and Tramadol. For me, it works very well. Maybe this info might help you. Good luck at the Neurologist. Love your channel and watching the two of you together.

I understand what you are going through. My parents both have dementia, my dad wasn’t able to be formally diagnosed at the point we are at but they assume LBD. My mom has Alzheimer’s. I think the only advice I could give you is to continue to stay ahead by constantly educating yourself to what is coming. The laughter gets harder and harder to find. One of the books that has helped me the most is called Smiling Through Your Tears: Anticipating Grief. I don’t want to come across as an “expert” but please be careful with your travels, change can cause rapid progression with any dementia. Thank you so much for sharing your story. ♥️

I hope you both are having a blessed day today while I keep working thru your videos 🤗

Hi to you two! Jason i love your sense of humor! Keep it up! And it sounds like you are a very active guy! Keep it up! Keep stimulating your brain, keep it active. Also the choking, and I guess you can say the feeling of asperating is one of the symptoms. My step dad has had problems swallowing and coughs alot. He says he feels like somethings in his throat, but there's nothing there. It may be some spastic movement of the muscles in the throat. Im not sure, but I just wanted to share my stepdad has had that also. And he has been diagnosed with Lewys also.
Leslie you are so sweet and strong sweetie! Im so glad you both are making plans to go places and to keep enjoying life no matter what! God is there for you, he is your strength and hope! Happy you get to be with your grandson! ♥️♥️♥️ big hugs to you both!

I just happened on your videos and find them to be both cute and informative. I can see why you fell in love with Jason - he is cute, handsome, intelligent, has a great personality and fun to be with. You are an amazing caregiver. It is one of the most difficult jobs in the world and you appear to be handling it beautifully.
My Mom developed late onset MS when she was in her 50s. She had problems with her legs as well - they referred to it as restless leg syndrome. Her legs didn't shake as Jason's are doing, but she would get this overwhelming need/urge to move her legs around. Plus, because of the MS, she had to get up during the night and go to the bathroom, disturbing my Dad's sleep . Their solution was to get twin beds, put them side by side and basically make a king sized bed. They had a king sized headboard and king size bedspread, but the linens were separate twin size for each bed. That way her movements on her "side" of the bed didn't affect my Dad's side. So, I thought I'd pass that idea on in case it might be something that would help. Prayers for continued strength and patience as y'all travel this path to the future. God bless you both.

So I know it’s different but I’ve been a care giver of multiple neuro diverse people for years. My grandmother had Alzheimer’s and I took care of her for two years, my aunt with severe CP and profound intellectual disabilities I took care of her for 10years, our daughter switch profound (non verbal, non mobile, etc.) is now 8 and was adopted after Meeting her at 3weeks old. I’m no stranger to many of these symptoms albeit in different situations. I’ve been to more swallow studies than I can count with our daughter who eve naturally had to go from gtube and tastes by mouth to gj tube and nothing by mouth. My son has Aspergers and has many executive functioning challenges. I have just started learning about your journey and praying for your family. We may not be walking through the same things but the brain is so complex and I’ve seen/ been through many similar things as the care giver. It’s hard- no joke but I’ve been so blessed to walk through these things with several loved ones. My grandmother and aunt have now passed (2019 nov and dec), but I remember all too well the challenging and changing aspects of living and caring for those with neurological damage and disease.

I found this channel by accident and I find it very interesting and informative because I had four major strokes and my last one was a bunch of mini strokes and I spoke to my neurologist, and he thinks I'm a prime candidate dementia. I was visibly upset, probably off and on for a week but just thinking about it and telling my family. I see some of the symptoms. I don't know if it's me or am I actually showing the dementia. At this point I don't want to tell anybody.

      T. Tjietens.. For sure tell your family. Be accepting of it and they will be as well. Educate your loved ones and ask them all to be on your team! That way you can unselfconsciously enjoy yourself around them and not be isolated. People often avoid or feel awkward because they do not want to do or say the wrong things. Let them know exactly what you need from them and you will be amazed at the support. They will be grateful as well. Love and Luck to you!
