Late to the party. Just picked up a Y30 so probably the first of several questions. Was there a nut on the lower wheel you took off before you removed the wheel off the collet? If so, left hand thread? Thanks, Jon
Thanks for watching. Some parts are missing, and there are no parts machines available for these, so they will need to be fabricated. I only make changes to a machine when it's an improvement over an original design. Not necessary with this machine. I will be fabricating a replacement blade guard, as I cannot find an original for reasonable. One guy contacted me and offered one up for $1000! That's just ludicrous. Some people......Anything I fabricate will be based off the original measurements of parts from someone I know who has a complete machine. I'm not running a museum here, so I worry little about keeping a machine original, if an improvement can be made. These machines all have to work for a living, and do it safely. :) If I do make a change to a machine, I always store the original part(s) being replaced so the next custodian of the machine has the option of returning it to it's original design.
Thats a helluva nice bandsaw, really a work of art. I have a 30” bandsaw too. Solid monocoque cast iron. Sounds like a sewing machine. Wadkin BZB. Never thought I would find one but i got there in the end. I resaw a lot with it to bookmatch boards. Cant beat cast iron for smooth fine cuts. I use lennox blades. Well worth the money.
Jeff - You sound so excited and happy! Is the bandsaw the best present you received?!!! I hope it runs as great as it looks. This will be an interesting restoration project. I can't wait for the videos.
What an acquisition of a real vintage piece of equipment !!! Seems like a Rolls Royce in its class as U seem to allude. Now to watch Your bringing this beautiful piece of antiquity to completely new life. Hope U have recordings to keep track with You. ATB aRM
Thanks. I subscribe to Jody's channel, and have given consideration to contacting him. The casting of the back guard is HUGE and delicate, and would not be easy, or inexpensive, to ship. I would be extremely worried about shipping damage. I'm trying to find access to a proper TIG machine, as I would like to do this repair myself. I am also considering MIG, as I have an excellent MIG machine.....just no spool gun for aluminum. We'll see soon enough......
I too, use Kroil as my go to oil for any oils they have available for my needed application, good stuff. Great seeing your procedures for the restoration. ....13
Very nice saw

Awesome machine, old machines are the best
Any follow up on that bandsaw, Morning Coffee 4?
If you subscribe to the channel, you will find the last two videos I made, which are the start of the restoration of this saw. Thanks for watching.
That is awesome that you found one of your dream tools!
Thanks, Brian. I'm stoked about it.
Keep original

This is gonna be a blast to watch! You're just like a 6yo on Christmas morning, my friend... :)
Thanks, buddy. It's hard to contain myself over this saw. Amazing piece of machinery.
Looking forward to following your project.
Greetings from South Africa Johannesburg.
Thanks for watching, Willem.
What a great machine. I think you need a new pair of gloves to continue the job.
What do you mean......that's ventilation! :) Good for gripping, though.
Thanks for sharing the details of the Band saw. I have a Powermatic 87 and want something even larger.
I share the dream of a big, vintage saw. looking forward to following your project.

Not really a present, since I bought it for myself. :) I am definitely happy about getting it. I didn't think I'd ever find one.
Jeff, If you are going to have the break relined look up Feltons Clutch in Chattanooga, TN. I have had them do some work for me and am very satisfied.
Thanks, Chris. I'm going to replace it with a new one, if I can find the correct shoe. Otherwise, I'll look them up. Thanks for the referral.
Jeff, very nice acquisition neighbor! Love your enthusiasm!
Thanks, Tim.
Looking forward to watching this amazing saw come back to like-new condition, Jeff.
Thanks for watching. It's going to be a fun labor of love.
Looking forward to the tear down and rebuild. Beautiful machine
Thanks for watching JJ.
Beautiful saw. Never have seen one like it. Looking forward to watching the restoration.
Thanks for watching. Plenty of work to do on this one, so a lot of video's coming soon.
Aloha Jeff:

My buddy bought 5 20"snowflakes from a school years ago.God were they heavy.I know Ben.
"Gunk being a technical term for crud"
I love it!
Plenty of "gunk" on new purchases around here.....thanks for watching.
Looking forward to this series Jeff. What a great saw you have acquired.
that's a big boy
It is massive for a 30" saw. My Chicago Machinery Exchange 27" saw is just 3" smaller in wheel diameter, but less than half the size of this beast.
Ask Jody @weldingtricksandtips. He is the Expert on RUclips and happy to help. If you can get it off send it too him and do a vid collaboration.
