This coaster is perfect for many kinds of people that are not coaster enthusiasts. We got a new family wing coaster from b&m in legoland germany with a similar thrill level as this one and it's a total success. Perfect way of experiencing a little bit of a tamer coaster with inversions to eas people in and for people that just don't like that intense stuff we do. Let's just be honest, most of us coaster enthusiasts can't look through the eyes of the general public, since we are too nerdy for that myself included^^.

that procedure is probably because of it being a shuttle coaster.
tall gates.. but i could see some hooligans jumping it one day.
Also, at this point I think it's fair to expect B&Ms to not be glossy smooth anymore. Something's changed and their newer models from late 2010s and on have a tendency for some rattle.. nothing usually painful, but their older stuff is just more smooth.
They have smooth rides still obviously, but it's not as much as it was

I just wanted to say, you really covered everything perfectly, and very concisely. I discovered the coaster community really a few weeks back - and your style is my favourite by far. Did you notice the spikes just before launch 3? Possibly the worst footchopper I've ever seen...
    Now prepare for an essay.
Ridden this 3 times now (2 visits); my first ride was on the backwards row and the first spike caught me a bit suprised that it actually felt like an inversion. Would recommend to try that row once to anyone, for the spike, and also for the fourth launch. That fourth launch (the one after the spiral-helix-statue-whatnot) was quite decent backwards. My second ride was row 2 (skipped 15 mins of queue to single ride - ride op was feeling nice I guess? - otherwise would have gone row 1), and was wildly different of course. As you say, the start was very underwhelming - and that was pretty much it. My next visit I got another ride, on row 1, and it was by far my favourite. The wind in the second launch (forwards through the station) made it feel pretty intense (my dad didn't expect that one from a family coaster - was his first ride) and the third is decent as well.
The inline twist reminded me a lot of Saw - and weirdly enough I actually prefer it to the roll on Saw because of the way they place it above the entrance. However, I don't think the vest restraints do it justice in terms of hang quality. I guess you can't really go with Skyrocket II restraints/roll combo on a family wing coaster, but I was disappointed. The vest did make the sideways hang nice though, that was certainly something I had never experienced for that long and I did not expect it to be as comfortable as it was. Also, I really haven't experienced my fair share of wing coasters - so that shaking is not very familiar to me. This is going to sound very weird, but it actually reminded me of the second launch on Velocicoaster with the shaking through a launch - especially on the front row where the wind makes it feel like even more acceleration.
Despite the epic inversion-ish on the back row, the first spike isn't my favourite. Well it was, because the best I really had before was Tigris and the inversion-ish beats that. But a couple weeks back I was in France, visited Disney and Asterix. That spike has NOTHING on Toutatis. My row range on that was 2-8 (out of 10) so no ends - single rider, and yet both spikes were incredible at their respective sections of the train. Plus the people in the Gyrofolix queue and the viewing platform taking loads of photos, stick your hands up on the backwards one! But Toutatis actually doesn't have my favourite spike, that goes to RC Racer. You heard me. RC Racer.
    TL;DR:
Spot the spikes? Didn't think so.
Try the bw row once. Then only ride the front.
Underwhelming but well placed roll, Skyrocket II better though.
Launches feel like Velocicoaster with the shaking, and almost have the same feel on the front row.
Second spike weird. First spike decent, inverts back row ish.
I rode Toutatis, first spike no longer good enough to be decent.
RC Racer better than Toutatis spikes though.
    Read the PS. And the PS 2. I don't have a PS5.
PS: I mentioned the backwards row, it was my first and hence favourite when I rode it. Then I had my first and third rides on Tonerre 2 Zeus on the backwards row. Put simply, Mandrill's is no longer my favourite.
PS 2: B&M kid's dive in the statue when.

I must say that I haven't ridden this coaster but from video's and other experiences that I had, I dont think this is a great fit for the park... When you have a pretty busy park and when your eye-catching rollercoaster has such a bad capacity seems like a recipy for huge lines which also move very slow. I dont know if the project was so land locked, but a bigger family coaster like pegase express in Parc Asterix would be a much better fit in my opinion. It too has a launch, a backwards session, has lots of potential options for theming/story based moments and even better runs multiple trains. + I do think that B&M is an expensive manufacturer so maybe you could even build a bigger ride for the same money. I'm not that deep into the financial side, more in the decoration quality, and I must say that the overal theming quality doesn't even look that good. Weird scale of the buildings, details seem rushed and the overal polish and materialisation just feels cheap. I know it is something, and these things are expensive but you just cant say that is that great. Such a shame for a coaster that was waited for for such a long time by fans of the park.

Only just rode for the first time yesterday. Row 4 and the backwards row at the back.
I really agree with a lot of this. I messaged my fellow thoosie friend after first ride like "It's OK. Nothing more nothing less." The backwards row did significantly improve the experience I would say.
The inversion is so slow that I wouldn't be suprised if it actually put some kids off going upside down because it is quite a bit of hang time for a first go IMO. Depends on the kid though ofc.
I also thought the double helix stall out was weird but also just doesn't really add anything. It's kinda just uncomfortable pausing on your side. Especially when I had row 4 and was above the track.
It is wonderfully well themed though and I'm sure for the most part it delights it's target audience which is the main thing.

It also feels like I can never ride because I went on busy days, and the virtual queue was full. I got two rides in on seperate days and was assigned to the exact same seat, right side row 6.

We did notice quite a large amount of bouncing on row 5 last time we rode though and hope this does not get worse as the coaster ages.

It's an interesting ride: clearly intended as a family coaster, but at the same time, my family would never ride it in a million years. I think you need a little bit of thrill-seeker quality to even dare to get on it after looking at it, because it has an inversion AND goes backwards, and those are both deal-breakers for a lot of people.

Solid review and you hit the nail on the head. I went on opening day and everything you said is 100% what I thought. It's a fun little ride and works well for the park but not a ride you get off and want to go immediately again. On another note 100% dragons fury is easily the best ride in the park if you get weight balance right it actually spins like crazy.

Spot on review and I don't understand how something from b&m can be so uncomfortable. I would rate it behind Dragons Fury and Vampire in the park. I think the capacity is only around 320 guests per hour as I timed four minutes between each ride, which is beyond rubbish for a new main attraction coaster. You also mentioned about loading and how guests are held back from going into the station, I think that might be for safety due to the launch through the station.

@@CoasterStudios I'm experiencing a similar moment of revelation here. I looked it up, and I'm guessing you entered by the hotel? Is that the main entrance? We came in by Jumanji, and it was a strange entrance with extremely minimal infrastructure. Maybe we came in the back?? I'm super confused now! haha

The new wing coaster in Legoland Deutschland is also a lil bit shaky - nothing severe but Sevenum has a much smoother one. Maybe it’s n issue related to the slow speed. Trains look awesome tho ❤

I agree that dragons fury is the best ride in the park from an enthusiast perspective but really Mandrill Mayhem fulfills a specific need for a first inversion at the park and it does it in the gentlest way possible. To a kid this ride will be totally awesome and way more so than a vekoma boomerang.

Taylor saying it didn't do much for him is a "well duh" moment because he's an enthusiast with experiences on some of the world's most intense coasters. This ride experience may not be the most exhilarating or lengthy, but it's a family ride. It's not supposed to impress the enthusiasts.

i think this coaster idea is really good and with mandril mayhem being the first of its kind being a wing shuttle coaster and there is a feel for what it feels like and that there is some editing that probably needs to be done with this coaster type and if another one is built that one will give a better ride experience and fix what needed to be fixed.

  • @ekesp93
    @ekesp93 Год назад

I agree pretty heavily with everything in the video, but I want to emphasize how weird that sideways hang at the top of the spike in the helix is. It's just uncomfortable. Since it's so slow, you're really just hanging there feeling like you're half out the seat on the side and you're holding yourself up, but not because you're afraid you'll fall out or anything (obviously you won't but you know, the feeling), but because if you don't it's just uncomfortable. Really didn't like that. It added nothing. I feel like it would have been infinitely more enjoyable if they did something else with that element. The rest was just ok, but an ok coaster is still a pretty good time usually.

    • @CoasterStudios
      @CoasterStudios  Год назад +1

I definitely agree, I should’ve put more emphasis on that. It’s a weird climax for the ride- normally rides build up to something really cool and this climax is just… not pleasant

Like how Big Bear Mountain helps kids get used to airtime.
