    WHY ARE IT JOBS AWESOME?
    🔴 IT jobs are awesome because they are in high demand. The United States gained 2.3 million jobs in #tech over the past decade! When it comes to IT Support Specialist jobs specifically, you’ll find nearly a quarter of a million job postings in the US each year! For you beginners, over 1/3 of those job postings are for entry-level positions. So there is NO shortage of jobs or opportunities for advancement in IT!
    🔴 IT jobs are awesome because there are IT Support opportunities in nearly every industry. There are IT jobs in entertainment - TV, movies, video games - education, healthcare, the automotive industry, you name it. You could be an IT pro who works for the FBI or the San Diego Zoo. Think about your hobbies and interests and consider how they can be melded with a career in IT!
    🔴 IT jobs are awesome because they pay well. The median salary is about $51,000 in the United States. For beginners, that median salary is around $40,000. Your salary will vary, of course, depending on where you live and who you work for. The point remains the same, starting IT salaries are impressive!
    🔴 IT jobs are awesome because they offer a work-life balance. Work cultures are evolving, especially within the tech industry, to promote both quality of life and productivity. IT pros often have more flexible schedule options and can even log fewer hours as long as they’re getting the work done. Many IT jobs involve #remotework, too, if working in pajamas is more your style.
    🔴 IT jobs are awesome because they offer fulfilling work. At the office, you likely won’t be tied to your desk. IT support specialists spend time on their feet helping people with tech around the office. Plus, the nature of IT support is to problem solve. So the job is a little different everyday which lets you get creative - and makes for more challenging and fulfilling work!
    WHAT IS AN IT SUPPORT JOB REALLY LIKE? Here's what you'll do:
    💻 Diagnose and repair computer, smartphone, and/or software problems
    💻 Install and train users on new software;
    💻 Walk end-users through problem-solving their tech issues
    💻 Backing up and restoring data files.
    💻 Repairing hardware and configuring software to maintain operating systems.
    WHAT IT SUPPORT JOBS SHOULD I SEARCH FOR? Here are a few titles to get started:
    🔎 IT Support Specialist
    🔎 IT Support Technician
    🔎 Help or Service Desk

    I have all of those soft skills except for 2. I applied for a help desk technician position at a college where I graduated from and I did not get an interview because I was told I needed experience working in a call center or in a help desk environment. My thing is, I have a degree in computer maintenance and network technology, but how do I gain experience in order to get my first entry level IT job, if no one will give me a chance. 😒😳. That being said, I'm currently studying for A+ and security + too, wish me luck. 🙂

    • @comptia
      @comptia  3 года назад +6

      We totally hear you! That's the catch-22 and it's so tough! That's where volunteering could come in for you to gain that experience, but A+ won't hurt either. About 88% of hiring managers require the A+ and most screening software for those positions only pass through candidates that have A+ on their resumes. You got this!

      @@comptia Thank you for the information and volunteering is something I will definitely look into. Do you have any suggestions on companies to volunteer at?

    • @comptia
      @comptia  3 года назад +3

      @@jalen5981 It'll depend in your area but think of non-profits (maybe even churches) in your area. Another option would be to volunteer/shadow at the college you interviewed at. You'd be surprised! They may take you under their wing if you're showing you are eager to learn and earn the experience. Also, check out any apprenticeships ~ they may be posted on job boards like ZipRecruiter, etc.

    Hi, We would love to see the COMPTIA bring back the CompTIA Healthcare IT Technician Certification because I really found a lot of good information in your Book ( HIT-001 Authorized Cert Guide )when studying for it very helpful, especially if you were a new Tech working in Healthcare.

      That's great feedback! We always recommended holding CompTIA A+ along with that certification to help validate the skills needed to do the job. Employers may also accept CompTIA Security+ for this type of role. Here's an article that may help you! healthcareitskills.com/healthcare-it-certifications-2021-hcispp-cahims-google-aws/

    Is help desk analyst same as IT support ?? Which one related to assemble computers devices and fix them with tools ?? Wich one working from home only ?? please 🙏🏻🙏🏻

    • @JJFlores197
      @JJFlores197 4 месяца назад +1

      I doubt both of those deal with hands-on PC repair. Companies are all different in how they run their IT dept and job titles/duties. In general, help desk performs basic IT troubleshooting, like resetting passwords, or troubleshooting why a printer doesn't work, or why a user's computer is not working. If the problem goes deeper, it may be escalated to a help desk analyst or "Support specialist" who deals with more specific applications. A technician usually is the one who goes around physically fixing and maintain the devices as well as refreshing computer setups or installing new computer systems for new employees.
      This is general information. As I said, it can vary depending on the company. Some companies may combine all of these duties into 1 or 2 job roles.

      I called CompTIA about the A+ 220-1001 and 220-1002 exams and a lady there told me that they will retire those exams in October. I am fairly sure that the certificates last for 3 years and you need to do continuing education to keep your certificate active.

      Depends on where you work. At the school district I work at, as soon as your 8hr shift is over, that's it. Very rarely are things scheduled outside of work hours.
