Lee years ago when I was in engineering we always used a lubricant or coolant when drilling or milling that doesn't seem to be the case these days why is. that ?
I don't quite understand how you assemble an engine with coated or spray welded bores mixed with liners? The piston rings are entirely different between the two types of bores. also in the ingenium engine bores that are spray welded (at least the remanufactured ones are) I don't even think it requires a cross hatch and uses a very different piston ring so when you sleeve an engine, what rings would you use?
Agree with your thoughts on mix & matching Alusil coated cylinder bores and one standard cylinder fitted with a cast liner. As Lee stated, the problem of building the engine is with owner's brother - and Lee has included a suitably worded disclaimer as it's really not the done thing if engine reliability/longevity is being sought.
Just ONCE I'd like Lee to explain how you make 600 HP real world from one of these engines. (What boost, what fuel do they run, etc.) We've built several 600 HP street engines in our area, all built to run pump unleaded, all naturally aspirated, but are all larger V-8 engines in the area of 430 cubic inches. I just don't see a 4 cylinder making those numbers without running 2.5 BAR or better, and that's hardly pump fuel friendly boost numbers.
Very informative, but also, very condescending. I've been fixing boilers since the 80s, still learn everyday! Sorry Lee, but comes across as you know it alll. Now one ever will. But great content.
I have been watching Barum YT videos for several years, and I have come to the conclusion that Lee has 'forgotton more about the YB Cosworth' than so called experts claim they know. Consequently, that's not the claimed condescending message that I'm receiving from Lee.
"It's Friday.. It's 5 to 5... it's Crackerjack" 😃
Beat me to it!
@@johnbaron5871 Me too, first thing I thought of. Do I get a Crackerjack pencil?
Cccrraaaccckkkerrrjjjaaaccckkkk!
I've been catching up Lee. One ahead too. No seasickness 😜
Can't wait to see the cossie with all its trick bits fitted!
Cheers Lee, thanks for the update 🤙
Another interesting cossie vid Lee. Must be an anorak of some kind because I love all the engineering fors and againsts!
Great vlog Lee, no back ground noises from John? Have a good weekend. Stay well.
Its Friday, its p.o.e.t.s day.......piss off early tomorrows saturday 🤣🤣
Can we see the sizing off the rods please lee😁
Have a great weekend Lee.

The man knows his onions when it comes to cossie engines, keep up the good work.
Oi Oi indestructible? Lets hope that dont come back to bite you

Coventry climax? looks more like a Hillman imp engine to me.
Thay we're a great fork truck😂
@@rorybyrne975 Too right.
Same thing.
Imp engine was based on a Coventry Climax I believe.
Lotus used the Coventy Climax FWMC engine which had an entirely different cylinder head to the type used on the Hilman Imp.
Great video, have a good weekend.

Would you not recommend knife edging the crank with the balancing

Much of these figures come from dyno runs that totallty BS up the output figures. Puma Racing Engines had a great write up on this years ago.
Bigger injectors 3/4 bar map sensor double fuel pumps ported head and cams ecu upgrade
Efficiency is the first factor. That's always been in the discussion when it comes to major differences and how it's possible.
Have you had a wish you were here postcard from Isaac 😁
Keep seeing the bike in the corner of the build area. Are you doing cycle to work?
Hope you confirmed the work and the price in writing with Steve after the phone call!

A proper Coventry Climax is a V8.

Please don't swing the camera around so fast - you make me sea-sick.
