As a person with disabilities, I want to thank you for the update. Now all I have to do is move to England. lol. Even though I am a born and raised Floridian, I have never seen a narrow boat and we really don't have a suitible canal system. The heritage of your country is something to appreciate. And I have always loved your outtro. I looked up and down loaded trhe lovely music and your closing shots, from the originals to now have always reflected on what I imagine the beauty and peacfulness of canal life can be. Yes it has it's moments I'm sure, but overall, very nice indeed. Take care and God Bless, Paul from Florida.
OF COURSE this was an interesting update! Plenty of viewers will benefit from this couple's experience. The power lift beds are but one example that will aid movement through the boat and will remove a major source of frustration.
Brilliant update! Great to see they're enjoying the fruits of their labour, and also good to listen to people who talk in layman's terms while explaining the details. I wish them many more years of happy cruising 🙂
This was an amazing follow up interview. What a delightful couple. Thank them for sharing their story to us. I wish them a continual successful cruising for years and years to come. Beautiful boat.
What a lovely re-visit. I am so glad the boat has worked as intended. I notice no farmyard animals disturbed the filming this time around. Thanks for sharing 5⭐'s
I am not into narrow boats specifically but it is my dream to someday own a tiny or small home. I have severe health issues and need to get a lot of surgery but finding disabled friendly tiny homes on the internet isn't that easy. So I loved this video a lot! Everyone has different needs but seeing these two lovely people planning a home according to their needs and now reflecting on their choices is still so encouraging and helpful!
Good to see them again, and glad they are getting on so well. I believe that electric will be the way of the future for narrow boating because it just suits the use so well. That's not the case with some other applications at least for now but who knows what the future holds. Cheers, and thanks for the follow up David!
They have really thought things through and seem to have come to a conclusion that suits them. Well done. The Lead acid batteries were a surprise but you go for what suits at the time.
I heard that lead acid batteries along with being cheaper are a more stable / safer battery in that as time goes on the batteries degrade less and they are safer in that if there ever is a fire they can be extinguished more easily.
Wonderful to catch up with them. It great that the innovative boat they designed has mostly worked. And any hiccups can be ironed out. Hope they have many years cruising along the canal in the home they’ve made. Ben from Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you for bringing this to us. I had wondered how it worked out for them. Especially considering I am not young anymore and watching narrow boat videos has sparked an interest. Keep up the good work. I love where you are taking your channel
Excellent update. good to see that the electric technology is being tweaked and changed all the time to make the systems more efficient and even better - cheaper!. We WILL have our electric boat - one day!
This was a really great episode. It is a common thing to build a world around them so as to make the life they want to live possible. In some ways it makes them heroes, heroes for the common folk. Thanks for bringing us back to see their dream working.
The scenery on the canals is so beautiful. If I was 20 years younger I’d go to the UK and buy me a boat and live on it… my kids may get upset but hey they could come visit right..
Good to hear that Peter and Tina have found that their boat is performing really as expected, and they have certainly put her through her paces . Our boat is just a few boats away at Crick, so I know how enthusiastic they are to share their knowledge and findings on the benefit of an all-electric boat. It is so quiet, and Nautilus comes and goes with no audible sound. Lovely to see your excellent photography of our local cruising route.....it looks lovely through your camera and on a sunny day too!
Thank you David , for making this follow up ! I had actually forgotten about this couple and their electric boat I’m sorry to say, now I’m going to watch the original episode . Cheers From California 😊
The part one of this saga was a particular favorite of mine. not so much the accessibility issues it raised, though i am keen on that with every trip around the sun, but i am geeking out over the future of Narrowboating being diesel electric once someone put real effort in an effective muffler system for a generator. All that being said , this couple is absolutely adorable
What a wonderful boat - thank you for the share and update. The way battery tec is moving the new batteries will be much cheaper, lighter and safer and will not have lithium in them. From March to August 2023 due to price cuts and cheaper materials, building an EV car dipped below the cross-over point (in the Western World (In China it happened 3 years ago) it is now cheaper to manufacture/build than an internal combustion car. So we could see this boat design being the norm due to the cost price in production and also the ongoing maintenance and cost of fuel and servicing.
Being Norwegian we use Cinderella toilets a lot as we have cabins for weekends and holidays. They are the best about and if installed correctly are totally manageable. Thr6care the best option of all toilet choices on a NB by far
I always enjoy learning about the changes in electric motors and also how much power you need to run internal systems at the same time for narrowboats and sailboats.
Oh that was great 😊 👍🏻 thanks for this. I'm a disabled person and I would like to spend longer times in the future on the canals, it's lovely to see how Tina and Peter have made it work for them and kept the greener energy option working for their long term cruises. The bed is a great innovation and gives them a full size bed. Love the cooker and hob, and those countertops are gorgeous. The loo system I'm not sure about though. I thought composting was going to be the way to go, (no pun intended) but incineration sounds an interesting idea. Maybe there would be a way to make the loo a hybrid so it can be used both ways though I suppose that could take extra plumbing and space. All in all such a nice boat and updating video. Thank you 👍🏻
Glad you did a revisit on this one. So often we see a report (often on broadcast tv, less so on RUclips) about some new idea and then are not sure how it worked out.
It is really good to know whether this kind of project worked out - or perhaps in other cases not so much! So, thanks for the update! That was good to see!
Love follow up videos and seeing how things are going. It helps people really decide what is right for them to see things a year or more down the road (or canal, as it is)
Thank you, on Prime, I presume ... if you get to the end of Season 4, there's no more after that but it continues here on RUclips and everything from 2020 onwards is YT only (video 201 is roughly then crossover point)
Hi David, great little update that boat is so practical I've had 4 operation's on my spine which has left me with mobility issues to see this boat gives me hope that one day these types of boats may be the way to go for me. Take care ❤
That was a great follow up David! Very enjoyable! It's interesting to hear that they are passing on their lessons to new boaters and helping to improve the electric boat production so it uses less power. Thank you!
Jolly nice seeing this boat and these people once again. Interesting also to hear about the energy requirements being less that feared - we learn stuff!
I am very interested in this return vlog.. thank you . A lovely couple who are willing to share their knowledge, ❤ I wish them well on the adventure of a life time..... may they enjoy for years to come.
Excellent video once again from you David what a lovely couple the toilet mention was interesting never heard of an Incinerating toilet before is this the way forward for a lot of boaters well done David 😊😊😊
Randomly have been unsubscribed throughout the years. As youtube does. Always glad to remember your videos and come back to see you still posting great content. 👍. You're awesome.
Another great vlog and good to close the loop on the original article you did. Peters comments wrt the hoped for reduction in costs of electrification resonated with me. As someone who has been involved in automotive electrification for over 10 years, I am not suprised at the high (excessive...?) prices being charged for electrification... I know its tiny volume, the technology (at least for narrowboats) is new and to some extent immature (why do people still use lead based battery chemistries..?) and that "early adopters" are prepared to pay more for a new technology, but I sincerely hope that electrification prices do come down (as volumes go up, it becomes the norm and the suppliers recover their inital investment) as this will be fundamental to increased adoption and the future of sustainable narrowboating.
A very interesting update to see how choices made during to build have worked out. And as an owner of a hybrid boat myself I Agee which their comments on cruising. We decided on the parallel system as we cruise tidal waters more. But found that ok last year during May June went almost 4 weeks without running the engine. So once again thank you David for an excellent video.
Rob Weston is building our boat right now. Fantastic quality and value for money, and he’s not frightened to innovate. We’re lucky that lithium is less expensive and we’ve been able to increase the power capability. Excited for the launch in March this year.
Fascinated by hybrid and e-propulsion boats. If you bring the mass of the vessel down, propulsion demands decrease as well: aluminum and “yoghurt pots” come to mind as substitutes for traditional steel hulls. Incorporating batteries for ballast would save weight and allow for greater amp hours. I love the video you did on azipod drives, brilliant solution for motor cooling, noise isolation, prop clearing and direction steering fore and aft. A heat pump for heating and cooling (with canal water acting as a thermal reservoir) would be ideal as well. A tri-folding solar panel arraignment would help maximize solar energy capture while stationary. The incinerating toilet would be my choice as well. Great video David, thanks!
Superb follow up. Congratulations to you and the couple involved. So a big thank you to them aswell as yourself. Loads of good and interesting points,. This viewer is now hoping my one existing Premium Bond comes up! Really beneficial. Thanks again.
Lovely stuff again. I'd actually like to have heard what the little tweaks were they had made. Those little wins are very satisfying to achieve and nearly as satisfying to hear about second hand. However, all up you surely hit the sweet spot again, delivering what is probably the right amount of toilet content, given how much it appears to dominate narrowboaters' conversations.
Excellent follow up indeed! Interesting to see how modifications to a narrow boat can make cruising the cut comfortable for those that need the tweaks. Always enjoyable! Thank you the update.
This is what sustainability is about. Here, you see a couple openly sharing their knowledge, details only years and months of experience can provide. No quick fixes, no "Oh! it's so easy". No "blah blah". Rational. Open. Unselfish. Just how big business needs to go back to.
Thanks for this David. All too often new ideas like this are presented when they first appear but we never get to find out how they worked in practice. I was hoping we would get a few details of the generator ..............
Excellent follow up vlog. So delighted to hear they've not had problems which they've been unable to address.
Yes, overall I think they've had a splendid experience 😀
Thank you to ALL for such a interesting follow up, really enjoy it🙏✝️🙏🇨🇦
Glad you enjoyed it

I love the connection between the title of this episode and the name of the boat 🖖

Hahahaha true!
In the US narrow boat living on land is named “tiny house living” using less space. Good episode. Thanks.

I love follow up stories - especially when we seem to have a 'happy ending' of sorts; I wish them many more years of happy cruising.
Thank you David for following up. A lovely couple, a lovely boat a lovely life.
I remember those guys! Great to see how theyre getting along!!!

YES: lots of it and not at all intrusive.

Great update David the the electrified canal boat there.
Great vlog. Totally into evs. Must be so lovely to hear the silence. Brilliant.
Ohh brilliant timing just about to sit down for tea so will stick this on! Hope you're getting along well with Twiggy 👍👍
Haven't really done anything much on Twiggy but have checked it's OK ... hoping this week's icy weather isn't going to cause a problem.
Glad you did a revisit on this one. So often we see a report (often on broadcast tv, less so on RUclips) about some new idea and then are not sure how it worked out.
Well done to this couple, good to see they are enjoying there boat. Interesting vlog, good catch up David.

In the midst of winter, I found there was, within David's vlogs, an invincible summer.
Great to see an update on that vessel
