Hey out there! This is Tokyo's very own, #1 pirate powerstation, JET SET RADIOOOO!!! Over the hood, through the streets, and right into your brain! We're transmitting our signal straight to you. Y'all got your antennas on or what? Yeah, we're ridin' high on a smooth stream of supersonic sounds! And I'm your captain and DJ, PROFESSOR K!!! JET SET RADIO!!!
The original sound track to this game still sounds fresh after all these years. Undisputed unique classic in design, play ability and sound. Sega, producing a game that embodied cool in every aspect of creative design. When i played this game all those years ago and the narrative dj dropped this track, i knew sega had produced a classic. fond memories come flooding back. Maximum bass :)
"This is Tokyo's guerilla music broadcaster, Jet Set Radio! Let's go to the mailbag! A letter from Mr. Osaki asks "how do I get rid of these nasty roaches?" Easy. Just burn your house down."
i didnt play this game until the remastered version came out on ps3, but i played the sequel ever since i was a kid. i gotta admit, this one also has a jammin' soundtrack.
Played this for the first time today! Got it on Steam! I played a but of Future on my brother's Xbox a long time ago. AMAZING! And the soundtrack is what holds it all together, without it the game would not be the same
lol...i still play this game on my old ass dirty dreamcast, this song played on the opening mission prologue...when they were explaining stuff to you....lol this game was nothing but memories
dudleypunch101 I dug out my old DreamCast to remanisce this great game. Couldnt believe how long it took to load. Amazing how our perception of time changes with age. Yet back then, that was acceptale. I found this frustrating as hell.
Replaying the game right now on XO. Was doing Jet Graffiti on Kogane. Towards the end, this song comes on. It's like a really special occasion every time I've heard this one during gameplay. Started playing really well. End of the song in particular is what does it for me. One of the best main themes to any fictional radio station/video game ever.
this feels like something you hear on the weather channel back in 2000 or 2001, when it shows just the forecast for the week or the weatherman showing you today's forecast
man... hearing this almost brings tears to my eyes... I'm immediately brought back to the year 2000. Had my dreamcast and got a new sony Trinitron tv I think. I worked part-time for my dads gas station making a little bit of money. The Ozbornes reality show was on tv I think, south park was a thing back then, ICP and Eminem were huge back then, (come to think of it, that was back when rap didn't totally suck ass)... I used to be addicted to roller blading and biking and extreme sports.. 99 degree heat, I'd be out pedaling on a bike or roller blading through the neighborhood at like 13-14 years old like it was nothing. I felt so free back then compared to now lmao... Nothing could ever replicate the feelings I had back in the DC days. Nobody really does it like sega did.. the company as a whole oozed with so much style and organic creativity and uniqueness.. they were virtually unstoppable at the time. until they ran outta cash anyway..
Actually, in North America when the game was first released on the Dreamcast, it was named Jet Grind Radio due to copyright issues. Ever where else it was called Jet Set Radio. When Sega released the HD remake of Jet Set Radio/ Jet Grind Radio It was called Jet Set Radio because Sega had the rights to name it that.
Jet Grind Radio was the North American name of Jet Set Radio and it was only on Dreamcast, but is now on PSN and XBLA. Jet Set Radio Future was the sequel made on original Xbox.
All right, I have concluded that if, for some strange, insane reason, I end up running a pirate radio station, it will be called Jet Set Radio, and will, among other video game music (and possibly rock music), play these songs. Or maybe just these songs all the time. This song, or Funky Radio, will be required to play in the background whenever I speak on this station. If this unlikely scenario is ever to happen, I now know how I will handle it. Thank you for helping me reach this conclusion.
I think you mean the sequel: Jet Set Radio Future. I played the hell out of that one too. But this is the original one that was originally released on the Dreamcast but recently got an HD re-release on new consoles.
It's a similar flow, but it sounds sorta off; might just be someone who gets their inspiration from him. Like how he pronounces a few words aren't on par with how Snoop Dogg'd pronounce.
I dunno how I stumbled back across this song lol.... This is one of the few games I have played through at least 50 times. along with the original trilogy of gears of war, sly cooper, (Most the sonic games), mario, resident evil and dead space.... good times. sega was the shit back then. and still is, to be honest. Shenmu, Yakuza, etc... all good games, sega never disappoints.
Not to mention it has REAL music! The music today is nothing but love songs. I mean some are okay, but we need to start writing better music like this.
tune that radio, it's all about the radio tune that radio, it's all about the radio tune that radio, it's all about the radio tune that radio, it's all about the radio
I feel like it's 2000 and I'm sitting in the living room in front of my Dreamcast. Memories...

Jet Grind Radio was my favorite game as a child, i lost it and they finally re-released it for PS3. I am so friggin happy :D
I have had this (plus the minute or so afterwards) stuck in my head for years now... It's awesome!
I like slate the most because he has a lot of health and he can hold up 40 cans

Man I have this song practically memorized every time it played in game. I find myself still mimicking DJ X's movements
I want this for my ringtone
the guy rapping sounds just like snoop dogg i love this beat
Great game from back In the day with great tunes that are still great today!
still the game with some of the best music ever JET SET RADIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
If only the tunes on JSR and JSRF were all on a radio station, i'd listen to it everytime
Most SEGA games are underrated. The one and only exception is Sonic.
To be even more exact, Jet grind radio was the US name as Jet set radio was a real radio station here.
This song has so many great elements
pov: you live in tokyo-to
Jet Set Radio and JSRF are two of the most underrated video games of all-time.
All right, I have concluded that if, for some strange, insane reason, I end up running a pirate radio station, it will be called Jet Set Radio, and will, among other video game music (and possibly rock music), play these songs. This is Professor K and you're listening to Tokyo-To's number 1 pirate radio station JET SET RADIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Finally! A set of release dates!
I think you mean the sequel: Jet Set Radio Future. I played the hell out of that one too. But this is the original one that was originally released on the Dreamcast but recently got an HD re-release on new consoles.
Why does this not have 1 million views?? THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED!
I think it's referring to the "Now Loading..." screen with the dancing radio. I believe it's saying "Do the Funky Radio".
Imagine hearing this play in a new world premiere game reveal Id lose my mind!!!!
You and me both. I think we’ve all been dreaming of that for nearly two decades!
Brings back many memories
202o anyone?
Sounds to me like he's saying "Do the funky radio, We are the funky radio."
love this
Maybe is just me... but the vocoder part reminds me a lot of a song called "Dear Limmertz" by Azymuth, maybe is inspired from there :3
I think it's saying: ''Worry about it later, there's always something greater.''
Yes, if you played the demo disc of it from the Official Dreamcast Magazine, it was titled Jet Grind Radio, which is where you probably heard it.
It's a similar flow, but it sounds sorta off; might just be someone who gets their inspiration from him. Like how he pronounces a few words aren't on par with how Snoop Dogg'd pronounce.
It's the last achievement JSR, called something like 'Back To The Future'. It's very debatable if it's actually a reference, but we can always hope.
upscaled 1080p hd you mean....anyway glad to have the chance to play this game hd too

Yeah we would all buy it! You know like the first two!
During their days, it was probably not underrated, since they did won and got nominated for a couple of awards, plus it was pretty popular in Japan.
This was my jam!
One of the most unique games ever made.
favorite song in the entire game, noise tanks were the best of the 3 gangs, i didnt give a crap about the love shockers though
