Almost all the women I know drink too much coffee and eat too much chocolate, nuts, and seeds already, and eat plenty of berries. She also recommends that women drink one glass of red wine every day. Maybe this is good advice for Italians, but American women have been following these recommendations for decades, have gotten addicted to coffee and chocolate, drink wine everyday, and have forgotten to eat real food.
NONE! No women want to hear that creep cut her off to push her to talk about alpha brain, 10 min after she told him she recommends food, not supplements. Eff that guy for shooting on this interview
I couldn't realise whether in this world really have any faithful circumference for depends, hopeless situation possible to increase mind power or brain power? Before or past young time nothing any weather create anything to fully dependable. Yet at this time be aged, but never I am discover such atmosphere. So till have a darkness in my brain.
Oh, THANK GOODNESS for women in science, and science being done ABOUT WOMEN!! Also, refreshing to see a male interviewer mostly sitting back and not talking over the female subject matter expert. I'm looking forward to this being the norm ♥️♥️♥️
I love that Lisa supports the nutrients coming from food. There are many nutrients in food that haven’t yet been identified that benefit us and aren’t found in supplements. Although some supplements might help someone feel sharper due to helping circulation or alertness, I believe food is the most important. It may take more time but you can actually change and improve the cells of the brain. I do agree that MCT oil and natural herbs and spices can benefit the brain. Sugar is. detrimental to the brain and body. Also, exercising the brain is so important such as puzzles, brain games, learning something new etc. Positive thoughts instead of negative thoughts can change the neural pathways of how we think and act. It’s exciting how much we can improve our brain and overall health when we set the wheels in motion. I read about Dr. Terry Wahls, a conventional doctor that got MS and tried the conventional way and got worse. She then developed a brain rich food diet and turned her health completely around. I’ve been studying nutrition for several years and it’s just now getting recognized as important for brain health.
This is such an insightful talk. It's women like Dr. Lisa who are providing some much needed focus on women specific health and brain research. Thank you to Mindvalley for hosting this talk. You should have more of such talks with guests like Dr. Lisa.
I really appreciated this talk. So refreshing in her way of speaking and presenting her points. And a Great scientist as well. I recommend also her TED Talk.
Amazing. I appreciate this. There's a lot of men generalizing wellness and health forgetting us women are biologically different. I've had anemia from being vegan, I've not Lost weight from months of fasting. So WTF. Always following men gurus, but now I listen to Dr. leaf and try to find women gurus/experts.
Incredible person reading this, you have everything there is to succeed in life, whatever that is for you. Go after the life you truly want NOW! ✨ I believe in you! Love - Nat ❤️
Thank you for helping the guest take a closer look at their misconceptions and inaccuracies surrounding supplements in a very kind way. Many people would have avoided the discomfort of questioning their guest's misinformation. Many others would have gotten into a win/lose debate. As the host, you found the perfect balance of sharing the truth in a gentle and inclusive manner that is so valuable for your audience.
Dear Lisa, I am been diagnosed with osteoporosis, I am 53 years old, and it seems I have some years already living with this situation. I have a high level of stress, as I am a single mom, and have so many responsibilities in my life. Regardless of this, I do practice Yoga as it helps my confidence and I love to do so. Still, I had a huge accident 25 years ago, and I have a Lefort lV,. I am so grateful to find you because I am been given a medicine to have and I am still not using, it because of the second effects and the anxiety that causes me the fact of using it. I am in a steady routine where I am doing Kundalini Yoga, which focuses on the Endocrine System and the Brain, the Glands, The lymphatic System, and the Breath of Fire. I swim twice a week, and still after seeing you, I feel like I don't know all or enough, is there anything else you suggest to me that can help me advocate for my health? and that I can ask my doctor if will help to improve and to stop the effects of Osteoporosis? Thank you and I wish you long and healthy life!
Would have been good if Vishen and Bianca could have given their attention to her while she was speaking ... so clear that they were distracted and barely listening. Please guys, if you invite someone on, be attentive.
Just Vishen, especially after the supplement smack down. Didn’t like to hear that. And it was obvious! Seemed a bit miffed. Looking at his watch and texting? Bianca was never even asked anything, or included, so I think she just bailed!
The key speaker Lisa may be a scientist, but she has no idea about what she's talking about regarding supplements. She knows nothing about them at all, so why was she even speaking about them. She didn't speak on them because she doesn't want people to be knowledgeable about how to care for themselves.
😂😂😂😂 I think she told you the things to eat, Vit B9, Omegas, Tumeric, antioxidents, and told you the foods they were in too What are you talking about? This woman has top information on how to feed your brain to avoid brainfog, shrinkage, and the damage of fluctuating hormones. She said what's absolutely essential if you're a veg Also she advised that stress destroys womens brains. Avoid stress. Like what more did you want? For her to hand you your turmeric, omega 3/6/9s, vit C&D, & B complex? And a square of dark chocolate... Shes a smart cookie, Vishen needs to cop on treating such a gracious, intelligent, entertaining guest in such an offhand way. @pamelavance9306
I’m glad the conversation circled back to the topic of antioxidants. Thanks Dr. Lisa Mosconi! I have pre-ordered your new book The Menopause Brain and can’t wait to get it!
Love d topic. Became more interested about d brain ...esp. after my eldest sister last year got a blood clot + was found to have a 4cmX4cm tumor. Thank God, it was benign. Today, she is still 'on d road' to recovery but has made such progress from a year ago. 🙏
I took 25mg of Zinc for two days in 2020 and I started having neurological breast pains so I stopped taking zinc. Then within about 36-48 hours the breast pains stopped. In 2015-6, while I was doing some research for a woman that had fibroids, I found that women during and after menopause should increase their iron intake to nearly 2/3rds of what was necessary prior to menopause.
Her thoughts on supplements: healthy diet first (Mediterranean diet excellent for women), liquid supplements are more bioavailable. Take B12, B6, b9 are important anti aging. Omega 3 fatty acids unless contraindications to it, DHA EPA complex.
Vitamin D supplements are very important, especially for people in Canada where we don't get enough sunlight. It's very important in prevention of Multiple Sclerosis. Canada has a very high number of people with MS
A very inspiring and revealing conversation on women’s brain health in midlife in relation to pressures like menopause , stress etc. I support the fact that menopause is under- researched and under- discussed which leaves a lot of women in limbo and perhaps confused about symptoms experienced following menopause and the staggering effects on health at midlife especially when these linger for long. I love the name ‘ bikini medicine’ and the importance of giving this area the much needed attention. Education with Lifestyle modification are critical in overcoming the blues at midlife.
I believe in supplements !!! My son was very sick for months. I have a biomedical science degree. He saw many doctors and none helped. I checked my son's blood work and bought the vitamins that I felt was right. Only 4 different vitamins he is taking. After my son taking them for a week, now my son feels amazing 🥰
Excellent questions by commentator. Problem is especially older people do not eat well anymore. They are tired and possible injured or diseased and do not feel like cooking. Many do not have the money to buy the better foods., so I am big fan of trying to replace vitamins with supplements. If your older you know things did taste better thirty plus years ago, it’s not our taste buds like they always want to say, we have to many additives, to much sugar and fats and things we can’t even pronounce.
We need more studies in regard to chemical or chemotherapy induced menopause. The only thing I have found is in regard to breast cancer. What about other cancers like leukemia, treatment given is cyclophosphamide, which really damages the ovaries. The chemo also causes much more severe menopausal symptoms, but the question is how long does this last, who is most affected, how can we shorten the duration, these are questions many have. Could someone please focus on more on this.
Loved this talk with Dr Lisa. Very interesting. And., as someone who is an x vitamin junkie I found out that most of those vitamins you mentioned - zink, c, some of the bs, we’re causing problems with my health because of an unusual gene.
Why is it that no one even talks about the changes men go through when they get older. I find they can be much more aggressive and argumentative than normal (meaning more than they use to be)
Karate Champion & 5 Years Karate Bangalore Good period of Champion Beauty & after Divorce i stopped Praticing comestics any after Diploma Canada & Indian Beauty & Healthy Culture. one year receptation. Thank You.
For women's brains, take antioxidants through diet mainly: fruits and veg, nuts and seeds, raw dark chocolate, coffee (single expresso with cold milk so that fat slows down release of caffeine), flavonoids. Supplements not really that ideal. Vit c, vit e, selenium are antioxidants too.
Just thinking out loud...it doesnt make sense, that the birther of the human race has been neglected in medicine. Its not just about equality. How women are, let's say at pregnancy, physiology wise, will have direct impact of her child...and these would have rippling effects on the family dynamics, psychology and etc, impacting the child (male or female) for the rest of its life. I for one, as a female, didnt understood the scope of this neglect, until recent flourishing of such conversations. So thank you for bringing such topics on your platform and expanding all of our minds today.
It's not just estrogen. When my progesterone tanked first, it did way more damage to my brain and body, than when the estrogen finally gave out. Why doesn't anyone discuss testosterone and progesterone often wane first, cause estrogen dominance is peri-menopause?
Estrogen drop, adrenal glands, oxytocin.... Don't the Japanese talk about the second flowering, but I get your points about the message are not necessarily brilliant about the menopause, women need a higher need for anti oxidant nutrients...take seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, amla gooseberry, and vegetables cruciferous and more... Dr mindy Pelz has a great book the menopause reset, I got this from her
He looked a bit restless and annoyed at one point; played with his phone at the end, how rude! I think she outsmarted him and showed him real intelligence and integrity.
I've just been tested for deficiencies and the only one that they could find was folic acid. People have to eat to suit their health conditions, and everyone's requirements are different for obvious reasons, menu's have to be tailor made for the systems in the body where the health conditions stem. The issue is that has women get older it can impact on appetite and you don't have any appetite to eat and so cook, that then impacts on what nutrients the body is receiving and also what supplements a person can take to help their health conditions.
You were talking about coffee, 1 year ago I developed kind of allergy to the caffeine, each time I drink coffee or tea I have headaches, no doctor can tell me why is that. It is because the way the coffee is prepared? Or something to do with my organism, kind of a deficiency that react with the caffeine? I love coffee and tea, and I miss it a lot.
I don’t know why but every time I was pregnant. All my symptoms would go away and they would all come back 3 months after I had my babies. I always wonder why? I wish I had the pregnancy health always.
Great podcast i think I’ll be going down this rabbit hole and buy her books. Would have loved for the host to have given the other guest the karate champ lady a chance to have spoken though I really wanted to hear what she had to add 😐
How do women who have had breast cancer get HRT? I am healthy and the breast cancer was many many years ago. This isn't fair that we are not able to get this therapy.
I was strictly vegan for 4,5 months and taking min. B12 supplements- untill my doc told me I have overdose of b12. So, always check your blood first!!!
Doctor Mosconi mentioned the brand name of a Vitamin B12 spray and I didn’t hear the name. Please let me know the brand. Also, I am female age 74 and I take Vitamin D to reach approximately 50. I tested at 12 and I was told I was very deficient. The over the counter Vitamin D 3 has worked for me. I found that many Doctors who sell products are suspect … Just my opinion.
Awesome interview.....many women(as early as childhood) ie ; (india)n, black women, and others use various products, herbs, and leave-in treatments on their scalp for hair health/beauty.....so curious to know what dr. mosconi's take is on this, as well anything applied to skin in general?!
Amazing! Wow! Dr Lisa Mosconi strikes again! Someone knows where can I read about the Miriam's work? I cannot find this fasting for women expert on the web, maybe because I don't know how the write her name. I am very interested. Thanks.
I appreciate this info - but think it should be renamed properly specifying that the lecture is mostly about nutrition for women health (which is readily available) - topics of neuroscience / how the brain is different was barely discussed on and 40 mins time gone. So it makes me feel like the title is click bait.

What wasn’t discussed was what happens if ovaries are removed in hysterectomy. How does that affect
brain connection.

Dr Perlz does the Dutch test, you need to check who makes the vitamins and minerals as there are lots of fillers etc and they can be very unhelpful

I'm glad she mentioned the BULLETPROOF COFFEE because fats are still better for our health than sugars. (see Dr.Sten Ekberg).

Very difficult to listen to with the sound quality.
Pre and probiotics.
Amazing! Wow! Dr Lisa Mosconi strikes again! Someone knows where can I read about the Miriam's work? I cannot find this fasting for women expert on the web, maybe because I don't know how the write her name. I am very interested. Thanks.
Hi guys👋🏽
I appreciate this info - but think it should be renamed properly specifying that the lecture is mostly about nutrition for women health (which is readily available) - topics of neuroscience / how the brain is different was barely discussed on and 40 mins time gone. So it makes me feel like the title is click bait.
It makes sense!
anyone knows the link to the video where the speaker interviewed an expert for intermittent fasting for women?
What about green tea it's under-rated
Not for thyroid hormones
Eight hours of sleep lessens my brain fog.
Midlife health is best indicator of health later in life so invest in it
You don’t need much extra supper supplements..but dr suggest specific supplements for pregnant women..
Yes
Interesting. 👍
