      Hey Tony, thanks for the positive comment mate. It's a bit out there in terms of a fishing video and might not that interesting to the our local guys in NZ or Australia. but it was fun to make. Cheers, Craig

    Nice one Craig - brings back some happy memories of fishing there with my kids when we lived back in The Lakes. If I'm back at Xmas I'll take my rods this time! The Tongariro is firing if you fancy a trip over the ditch!

      Phil Holdsworth thanks, Phil. The lake is a gem of a fishery. Keen as for Taupo. Will contact you privately about a trip mid August. Cheers, Craig

    Those rainbows are some beauties. Also some very creative camera angles! Well done video all around 👌🏻

      Thanks Phelpsie, I probably got a bit carried away with the camera. It was a big effort editing it all together. Much easier with just a head cam. I was surprised by the size of the fish and a bit under gunned with the 5wt. Cheers, Craig

    Hi Craig. Great video mate. Very entertaining and some very nice fish too. It looked like you had the place to yourself too. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Colby.

      Black Creek Op's thanks Colby, lot of fun to make, the fish just kept coming. Bit different from fighting through the bush and chasing fish downstream over slippery rocks. Cheers, Craig

    A very enjoyable watch Craig, such a relaxed edit which matched well to the surroundings. You do really well filming solo, camera placement spot on. The pulled in and pulled out shots add great movement which adds to the edit well done. Yes very different to fishing over here but was good to see you give info on fishing techniques used. Keep em coming. Cheers Chris.

      Thanks Chris, you can tell your wife her work inspired a few of those tree shots. Quite a lot of leg work in changing the camera angles with a fish on. Lost a few during the process. The locals were very friendly offering lots of advice and sharing flies. They were so keen on hearing about NZ. I filmed some fishing there in June as well, just cutting that together now. Cheers, Craig

    Got here through Kirby. Nice video, just subbed. A newbie fly fisherman from southern California.

      Greg Sheu Hi Greg, thanks for watching and thanks for the sub. There are some good rivers in California, I fished above Bishop once (25 years ago!) at a place called Rock Creek. Cheers, Craig

      Craig Mounsey I've fished at Bishop once at Owens River, buy didn't fly fish at that time yet. That's about 6-7 hours driving from my place. Mammoth Lakes and Bishop, basically Eastern Sierra is quite high pressure in those waters, and it is a beautiful place fly fishing there. But our trouts here are kinda emaciated, not as big in New Zealand.

    Great video Craig! The lake fishing is pretty different. Does that full sink line cast differently? It looked like you were really getting it out there. (Casting ver far)

    • @CraigMounsey
      @CraigMounsey  7 лет назад

      Mid-Life Flysis hi Kirby, thanks for the comment, glad you liked it. Well spotted on the lines, I switched from the intermediate to the full sinking for deeper parts of the lake. They do cast differently, being heavy there is more energy stored in the line. You can snap a rod if you're not careful. Cheers, Craig

    Hi, the trout you caught at 11:44 looked like a blue...

      Yes you’re right, another guy I met up there got me up to speed on the ‘blues’ in the lake. They really stand out. Fight well too. Thanks for commenting. Hope you enjoyed it.
