Great video, I finished the game with true ending while playing on 1.0 version without any fixes and it was hard sometimes ngl but enjoyed it very much. :)
I just completed the game, and I find dodging here a lot easier than blocking/parrying. The parry window is tiny, the attacks are either too fast or too delayed to consistently parry, so dodging away is a lot more stable in terms of avoiding damage.
Listening to you talk about the Laxasia fight was hilarious, because even though I used parrys throughout the game (not blocking tho), I found her fight way easier by just dodging, especially those 2 long ass combos (I ran around her and hit her on certain windows, and that was also good for breaking her shield) and just parried some of the "regular" attacks. As someone who’s platinumed Lies of P, Deflecting is pretty much everything against certain bosses. However, some bosses like Victor are far more susceptible to dodging. Honestly, I’ve never once platinumed a game but this game was so good that I was willing to plat it and enjoyed the journey platting it! I’ve played every Fromsoft souls game and this was my second favorite soulslike INCLUDING Fromsoft’s own! It had quality like fromsoft’s.
agreed, you can get by with only dodging (obviously lol) but some fights _realllly_ want you to block/deflect agreed! lies of P is fantastic, glad you platinumed it! :)
@@DoomWolfOfficial yea, I loved the video and it was a lot harder to only dodge than I thought. Specifically with Laxasia and Green Swamp Monster! Nameless Puppet surprised me tho!
Honestly even with blocking, Green Monster and Laxasia are brutal bosses. While Laxasia's combos are very long, Green Monster is SUPER aggressive for its placement in the game. Everything before that besides Romeo feels like you're the flash, so dodging is actually viable for the ENTIRE game until GM. The tight arena, aggression, the fast attacks, it's basically Laxasia but without the lightning steroids she was infused with pre-fight. I didn't learn to just block until Laxasia and beat most bosses within just a few tries, GM being the only one that really took me a good amount of time to beat pre-Laxasia.
Yep, those two fights are real skill checks, and parry checks haha, I feel like I cruised through every other fight in the game even on my first play through but those two really gut punched me
Some advice with backstabs. The term's very literal in Lies of P, you gotta aim for the back (as in the body part) instead of being behind them. It's oddly specific and a departure from the rest of the genre, but I wouldn't call it inconsistent.
I suck at blocking in any game so I decided to just not even try to do it and in turn I guess I accidentally did this challenge when I played through lies of p I didn’t find out until after I beat the game that you can perfect block projectiles to send them back, and yes laxasia was kinda rough but I did it after an hour of trying because my last few attempts I used a specter which made it easy. I’m on the swamp boss in ng+ now and only now do I feel I have to learn how
haha yeah Laxasia was like the one boss I was truly worried about because she's definitely a "have you figured out how to deflect yet? better hope so" boss lol
Nice! Ive struggle fighting Laxasia the most out of all the other bosses. When i finally beat her, i was sooooooo happy 😂. Didnt think you can beat her without blocking, proved me wrong. In addition, when Romeo did that "strange move" that you never saw him do, that was a counter. Luckily you didnt hit him.
I find it pretty funny because this was my entire playstyle for my whole first playthrough. The only things i parried was the swampmonsters charge and laxasia's lightning. I loved that playstyle and I found it just as viable as people say parrying is, but in ng+ I 've learned to parry, and It's just not for me. Im only on chapter 5 in ng+, so maybe I'll change my opinion. Oh, and loved the video! Great job!
Glad you liked it, when I played the demo I only dodged and absolutely hated it lol laxasia definitely should be parried not dodged, can confirm lol Also thanks!
I didn't break my weapon my whole playthrough, this was basically my whole first playthrough I hate parrying but on my second I've taken the time to learn it.
I love Lies of P because learning to Perfect Parry made me better at parrying in Elden Ring (with medium shield with Carian Retaliation that is) since the timing is very similar, where you parry around when the arm of the enemy is about to swing down. Altho I also learned from this and Consumables Only Run from another YTuber that LoP is totally open to being played completely differently and parrying is beneficial but not the only option to deal with threats and bosses. Also fun fact: the Puppet has an INSANE throwing arm and if you really wanna be cheeky against Laxasia Phase 2, you can throw acid containers at her from across the arena before deflecting her lightning. It's as funny as it sounds, yes.
Finally beat lies of p last night for the first time and man it's definitely one of the best souls likes I've ever played! From software is the master of the souls likes obviously but damn the team who made lies of p have nailed it so well! It's been an incredible time I can't wait to see how the dlc turns out now :D .
If the boss is doing an attack patterns where it does a big chain of attacks and you have to wait for a window (like you did on the Swamp Monster) - the solution is to spam throwables. Throwables are super broken in this game and take huge chunks of life off the bosses. Use them to melt the bosses health bar while it's doing some BS attack pattern where you can't get in and attack. This also works on Laxasia when she's hovering mid-air.
Man i've been playing this game on and off since it came out and I guess I am just about to face the swamp boss... Thank you bro I now know to pick up more apples and respecc a few things
I was actually playing lies of p similar to no blocking or dodging challenge runs for elden ring and those runs made me realize just how effective running actually is. Even for bosses it works so well.
Halfway through the video when you were commenting on the Green Monster of The Swamp, I forgot the entire point of the video and was so annoyed that you weren’t just parrying his attacks and then remembered oh… he can’t do that XD loved the video !:)
I'm really glad to have played Lies of P after they patched in Rising Dodge as an automatic ability + some other quality of life fixes. Never had most of the issues you complain about throughout the video, though it sounds like the game was pretty annoying in chunks before the patches kicked in. Probably my favorite souls like overall. Just something about the setting, flow of combat and weapon variety makes it stand above the rest in my mind. In particular, I appreciate that, in comparison to something like Elden Ring, I feel like I actually have -openings- to fight the bosses with. Enemies don't just freak out and writhe around with 5 billion attacks before giving you a slim 4 second window to attack once. (Sorry, I do love ER, but some of the bosses just suck)
23:15 I didn't even know you could parry SheZeus' lightning bolts in my first playthrough, so I just hid behind one of the bridge supports and dodged the slam.
Funnily enough, this was my first playthrought experience never blocking only rolling. I was too dark souls pilled to think blocking was even good, when i got into ng+ and realized everything i went through that playthrought learning perfect blocking and re writing my muscle memory on bosses. It was amazing.
nice! Yeah a few people have said something similar, I was the same way too, playing the demo with only dodging and not enjoying it, but then blocking/deflecting when playing the full game and loved it so much more haha
see, I saw it as non fury too, but I have def 100% seen it as a fury version (maybe in the demo?) but the weird thing, for the green eyed puppet monster , the charge > charge > roll was _ALWAYS_ a fury attack for me, but I watched a friend stream it and for him it wasn't a fury attack. I don't know if the game decides, or it's part of update patches or what lol
@@DoomWolfOfficialHmmm, thats interesting, maybe there's a chance for some not to be Fury? Because the spinning attack was always non fury to me, and Puppet devouring monsters roll was always fury for me

You can also get a powerful weapon if you lie enough and pray at a statue. The weapon needs the painting and then you can get it from that. It is called the golden lie
I'm going to be real with you chief, I only used blocking against the first boss and decided I didn't like it. Now I only use it for applying grind stone buffs and just dodge everything else
You might want to try "no weapon" in this game. It was my second playthrough and I absolutely lowed it. Start is a bit tough, even had to allow spectre for Scrapped Watchman (can't get enough dmg until first legion arm), and mostly first half is more like a puzzle to get enough damage and execute well enough. Legion arms + consumables even turned out to be a stronger than my first build in the late game, so I went to NG+ with it and completely destroyed it. Definitely worth to try if enjoying the game.
@@DoomWolfOfficiallooking from others that did that the farming drops is "only" needed for the first 2 bosses, and once u unlock the malum district shop with infinite consumable stock its smooth sailing.
Another alternative to perfect guard or get the hell out of the way for fury attacks, is to use the puppet strings fully upgraded gap closing heavy attack. If timed perfectly, it will break the enemy out of their fury attack.
Laxasia's long combos in phase 1 are absolutely obliterated by the flamethrower arm. It even breaks the shield! Honestly it's the funniest thing in the game.
This is how I beat elden ring 11 times before playing this game and this is how I played this game until the archdeacon boss where dodging just wasn’t working
I got so excited when I saw that Doom had uploaded…then saw that it was a Lies of P video - a game that I know literally nothing about That being said, Doom’s video style is good enough that even if you don’t know anything about the game he’s playing, it’s still hilarious
this is a mood. I found his channel through Elden Ring, a game I was interested in before ever actually playing it myself, and I've never played any of FromSoft's other games, and yet I still really enjoy and regularly binge doom's videos! Lies of P is actually the first game I have played before I saw one of his videos on it haha
also fwiw, lies of P is a very good game! I think it's pretty fun, and I'm not even someone who generally likes soulslikes because I don't like needing to git gud with the mechanical aspects of game. the weapons and move sets are fun, the game is gorgeous, etc. my main complaint is how the story was done (not the story itself but the lack of meaningful interactions with important characters and then the expectation that you will feel something about later events when you haven't even been given the opportunity to bond with characters).
I hadn't thought about it until now but you're right, you don't really interact with any of the story telling important characters, it just kinda happens around you. I guess you _could_ say that for DS1 though for example, the worlds already done and you're just riding it lol
@@DoomWolfOfficial yeah, I don't mean to imply the soulslike type of storytelling is inherently Bad. I don't like it, but there's a lot of stuff I don't like that is perfectly valid. but if lies of P is going to have the ending and final battle that it does, it should give the player the opportunity to become invested in the characters and develop a relationship so the ending has literally any amount of emotional impact. but as it is, Geppetto is just Some Guy, a glorified quest board with limited dialogue options lol the game doesn't give us a chance to like him or care about his opinion of us. we aren't given a sense of the history between Geppetto and us. basically, my gaming background is a lot of Dragon Age by bioware who is known for their player-NPC relationships so seeing a story with so much emotional potential being done poorly is a real shame. that ending could be so gutting, it could be a story about the unique pain of needing to break away from your family to be true to yourself and the pain of paternal rejection but it's not T_T anyway thanks for coming to my Ted talk and once again, bioware, if you're reading this, ya boy could really use dragon age 4 rn, thanks
lol I picked it because on my first playthrough I used it and puppet it ripper and they were amazing, second playthrough was with strength weapons and I just...no lol, SO I wanted to use something I was familar with but yeah I just avoided using the charge attack when it might have blocked something haha
Try that trident boss weapon you get. It works well with Dex if you put the dex crank on it and the charge attack has so much range and it's a quick single hit I found it broke bosses stances so well and you can outspace so many attacks with its charge R2 insane range.
This is kinda just how I played my first play through, I blocked a little, but could never get the timing on the majority of bosses so I just banged my head against a wall

Dearest Doom Wolf, I applaud your ability to attempt rather difficult challenges in games, such as beating it without blocking. As always, I am impressed, but this time you have overlooked one simple solution...just move. -Me, maybe
I recently bought Lies of P and my biggest complaint with the game is how nearly every endgame boss has 2 healthbars, I'd much prefer if the cutscene would cut in later in the fight of a single bar, like Fire Giant or Maliketh from Elden Ring.
I dislike how out of no where the bosses get the ability to hit you after you have stance broken them, only because it's never taught to you, it just kinda happens, then you have to wonder if every boss does it lol
This is actually how I've been playing I think Im on act 8 and haven't blocked once so I know that this is possible I just got really good at dodging edit and with fuoco dodging to the left when he starts to ready the attack can get you out of it's radious most of the time
The idea that Lies of P has a combat system that heavily favors blocking/parrying over dodging is a bit of a misconception, though I understand where that misconception comes from. When directly comparing blocking to dodging, blocking has a ton of upsides and is an answer to nearly every attack the game can throw at you while dodging doesn't work for all attacks and only has the benefit of negating damage. So, on paper, it seems like blocking is strictly better than dodging. In practice, however, going through the game with a "block only" mindset can actually make things significantly tougher in some situations. The best example of this is how many of the bosses - especially towards mid and late game - will push you backwards upon parrying their attack, forcing you to run back towards them so you can actually hit them. Except, by the time you do get close to them again, they'll likely have already started their next attack leaving you no window to get damage in. Dodging these attacks, on the other hand, allows you to both deal damage and work towards staggering them as opposed to just breaking down their poise. And then there's also just times where dodging an attack rather than blocking allows you to get extra hits in while the boss is still ending a combo string. Some of the more notable examples of these situations are Green Monster, Victor, Laxasia, and Nameless Puppet. I'm not trying to say that playing through the game with a "block only" mindset is the wrong way to play. Far from it. You bought the game, you dictate how you play it, and there's nothing wrong with that (unless you start blaming the devs for how you chose to play the game, that's just kinda fucked). What I'm trying to say is that, from my experience, the combat of Lies of P truly shines when you make good use of both dodging AND blocking. After all, the game gives you both for a reason. To paraphrase something Iron Pineapple said: don't play the game like it's just Bloodborne or Sekiro, play it like it's Lies of P.
Great run. Might be willing to pick this game up after this. Real question: have you ever went fully hollow during a challenge and if you did, what was it?
ahhh ds2 one shot got me close. I ended up dreading needing to finish it because every time I thought I was done there was always _something else_, hell even after finishing it there was STILL more that I missed lol
I played every souls like game like Bloodborne. "Shields engender passivity". Needless to say, my refusal to learn how to block made this game very difficult.
@@DoomWolfOfficial No blocking or dodging, BUT maybe parri- ok it was meant to be just ridiculous annoyingly hard, which is the point of it, but maybe an actually decent challenge would be perfectly deflecting every attack like an NG+7 no Prayer Bead Charmless Sekiro run basically lmao
I misread the popup on the red attacks at the start of the game and went through the entire game thinking they were something you could ONLY avoid by getting out of the way It got pretty hard towards the end lol many bosses i was super confused about what they intended for you to do

i found it out way too late, but you can move the circle in the skilltree with your stick lol. felt like i was taking more time trying to select the skill i want, than to actually fighting bosses xD
Can't you stop enemies from regenerating health using consumables? Laxasia also takes extra damage from acid iirc, so 5 acid canisters would have probably done fine (and saw toothed gears for once you run out).
Maybe? It's been a minutes since I've made this video..or played this game lol, and yeah, she's allergic to acid I think, I remember using it on my first playthrough and thinking it was really strong against her at least, but I also remember throwables used to be _busted_ so I didn't want to use them here haha
for a second I completely forgot you could summon for bosses and was very confused lol when i played the demo I only dodged and absolutely hated it, the game def _wants_ you to block and deflect lol
@DoomWolfOfficial I absolutely know that's what the game wants me to do, and I could have actually taken the take to do it, but I didn't feel like I could because everyone was saying to parry like sekiro. The problem is that I have never played that, and the parry system in it looks ultra intimidating.
Its funny that some of the bosses I had the most difficulty with I troed with summon and it made it HARDER to beat those specific bosses well pretty kuch only two, the brotherhood part 2 and Simon, simon gave me a hard time without summon but WITH summon I could not for the life of me beat him so I told myself let me try without summoning and it worked the fight ended up being much easier and for the brotherhood it also made the fight ha Rd for some reason but I was too stubborn to try to beat it myself telling myself if they're gonna summon then so will I. For some fights its like the game litteraly wants YOU alone to do the fight I mean with simon it was way too to beat him when he focused on attacking the summon because his attacks would reach me and they were harder to dodge since not dorected towards me and also because with the summon you're focused on just attacking while the summon gets destroyed so yeah I had resort to beating him the legit way which took me about 4 tries rather than the 30-40 tries with the summon which I never won or got close to winning
1:43 I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one. Now maybe this comes down to preference but imo that weapon was cracked it's one of the lightest greatswords in the game with 12 units of weight and has a total block value of 67% making it beyond viable for the aforementioned swing block swing strategy. Damage ain't too bad either. This isn't to say it's the best or anything but I would consider myself maybe slightly above average at this game and I used it from parade master to nameless puppet and beat nameless at level 90, third try to.
If you liked it I'm glad! I just never found it rewarding, too slow for my liking. Though I did like fuecococos boss weapon, that was a beefy greatsword lol
It is by no means trash. It's a very good balance of weight, speed, size/range, stamina use, blocking ability & damage for a motivity weapon, and it's very easy to get into a rhythm using its alternating stab & swing attacks. I used it until pretty late in the game. I was actually shocked how well & how long it held up, I just wanted to experiment with other beefier weapons with all those points invested in motivity & capacity.
I honestly don't understand why people have such a hard time with this game! Even before the first patch was even released, I was having a pretty easy time with the game...and I can't even beat DS1. But, with every patch, they keep making it easier!
The game isn't hard yeah, my first 2.5 playthroughs were on the first patch of the game (and one of those was NG+ even), but I would def say it's harder than ds1 lol, I bet you could go back and beat it now!

Yep, those two fights are real skill checks, and parry checks haha, I feel like I cruised through every other fight in the game even on my first play through but those two really gut punched me
I already knew the answer to the question because my first playthrough involved no blocking what so even and just throwables
Nice! ..wait, your _first_ playthrough was just throwables? Like that's awesome but why your first playthrough do that haha
Some advice with backstabs. The term's very literal in Lies of P, you gotta aim for the back (as in the body part) instead of being behind them. It's oddly specific and a departure from the rest of the genre, but I wouldn't call it inconsistent.
interesting, thanks for the tip ill try it next time!
Luckily you didnt hit him.
yeah she was definitely the toughest one to do here! and really? thanks for the tip, i'll make sure to be careful haha
Great job!
Glad you liked it, when I played the demo I only dodged and absolutely hated it lol laxasia definitely should be parried not dodged, can confirm lol
Also thanks!
I didn't break my weapon my whole playthrough, this was basically my whole first playthrough I hate parrying but on my second I've taken the time to learn it.
Yeah weapon breaks really don't happen for me outside of the status effect lol, but nice! Learn that parry!
Rising dodge is added by default now
11:20
I know lol
I didn't even start trying to parry or block untile the last puppet in the game, this guy basically did my playthrough with different weapons.
haha a lot of people went with dodging, and I mean its basically always effective and is lower risk than parrying!
The back stabs on donkey arent actually precise, he has a 5 second cool down on backstabs.
That...doesn't surprise me lol
It's as funny as it sounds, yes.
wait I gotta see what it looks like to just *y e e t* one of the containers from across the map lol
Finally beat lies of p last night for the first time and man it's definitely one of the best souls likes I've ever played! From software is the master of the souls likes obviously but damn the team who made lies of p have nailed it so well! It's been an incredible time I can't wait to see how the dlc turns out now :D .
Yeah! if you asked me to play this game in a vacuum I would probably think From Soft at least had a hand in making it, its really good lol
I like your at the beginning when you said help me when you were absolutely beaten to a pulp
glad you enjoyed it lol
damn u have this as a challenge I played without blocking until simon mayby thats why is was so hard xD
haha, no dodging might be a bit tougher, because blocks/deflects are harder to time, but it was fun either way :)
Ya know what, that's really smart, especially shot puts because I think they can break their stance? maybe? idk, I didn't think about it lol
@@DoomWolfOfficial Shot puts do break stance. 👍
Man i've been playing this game on and off since it came out and I guess I am just about to face the swamp boss... Thank you bro I now know to pick up more apples and respecc a few things
haha, glad I could help my friend :)
I was actually playing lies of p similar to no blocking or dodging challenge runs for elden ring and those runs made me realize just how effective running actually is. Even for bosses it works so well.
Oh yeah spacing is crazy useful if you do it properly haha
It's a good day when doom uploads
Thanks for the kind words my friend! Hope you enjoy it!
Halfway through the video when you were commenting on the Green Monster of The Swamp, I forgot the entire point of the video and was so annoyed that you weren’t just parrying his attacks and then remembered oh… he can’t do that XD loved the video !:)
Haha thanks my friend, glad you enjoyed it :)
15:15 looks like a big sickle but it a scythe and can get it , i love when you can loot boss weapons like that
same, especially when they are actually good and not a watered down version lol
The fact rising dodge wasn't an innate ability is wild to me. They definitely made good QoL improvement with the updates haha
Do I have a horrible habit of rewatching doom and the backlogs before and while I go to bed yeeeessss. Do I care eh, should I probably.
hey as long as you're enjoying it and getting enough sleep :P lol
23:15 I didn't even know you could parry SheZeus' lightning bolts in my first playthrough, so I just hid behind one of the bridge supports and dodged the slam.
The first time I fought her I tried to dodge and got hit, then just assumed I was meant to parry lol
'looks like bloodborne, plays like sekiro'
me starting my Frozen feast NG+ run: _Vordt theme plays_
fair lol
Just to mention, the scrapped watchman's spinning attack is not a fury, so you can dodge it
see, I saw it as non fury too, but I have def 100% seen it as a fury version (maybe in the demo?)
but the weird thing, for the green eyed puppet monster , the charge > charge > roll was _ALWAYS_ a fury attack for me, but I watched a friend stream it and for him it wasn't a fury attack. I don't know if the game decides, or it's part of update patches or what lol
@@DoomWolfOfficialHmmm, thats interesting, maybe there's a chance for some not to be Fury? Because the spinning attack was always non fury to me, and Puppet devouring monsters roll was always fury for me
yay another doom video! i really enjoyed this - do you think you might do more challenge runs for this game? and, if you wanted to torture yourself, you could force yourself to do all bosses and mini bosses? i totally understand "bribing" cat and fox, I think that's just a smart choice for this kind of challenge and narratively, but hey, it would add pain for a different challenge! lol mini bosses like that guy in vegnini works who's all "i cant tell what's blood and what's oil" (ever heard of an optometrist buddy???)
nah nah im always chill with however you want to do runs :D i always just enjoy whatever you choose to post!
I like Lies of P so I might consider doing more videos over it! I felt a little bad about bribing black cat and red fox, and like 1% bad about walker of illusions (not really, screw that boss lmao) so maybe i will include all minibosses fully if I do
@@DoomWolfOfficial every game gets one bullshit fight, as a treat, I guess lol and I don't personally care which fights you sidestep. I just enjoy your style and creativity! so whatever you end up doing is fine by me :D
You can also get a powerful weapon if you lie enough and pray at a statue. The weapon needs the painting and then you can get it from that. It is called the golden lie
that's true, but I don't think you can get it before manus? so it's only for nameless? not sure haha
@@DoomWolfOfficial I got it just after Sophia, you can listen to vinyls in the hotel to up your humanity faster
I'm going to be real with you chief, I only used blocking against the first boss and decided I didn't like it. Now I only use it for applying grind stone buffs and just dodge everything else
hey, I mean you def _can_ stick to only dodging, but I still say the game really wants you to block lol
@@DoomWolfOfficial oh it definitely does, I'm just being stubborn at this point
@@DoomWolfOfficial After fighting The Nameless Puppet I now conceded. Blocking is very necessary
the update that made rising dodge a base ability was actually massive
Yeah it's a lot bigger than just the rising dodge, but I didn't read anything except for that lmao
Yeah I mean I thought about it, I figured the early game would just be grind drops off enemies until you can throw things at them haha
@@DoomWolfOfficiallooking from others that did that the farming drops is "only" needed for the first 2 bosses, and once u unlock the malum district shop with infinite consumable stock its smooth sailing.
So uh… I skipped the tutorials and only figured out that blocking was a thing after the Victor fight
That's impressive lol
Another alternative to perfect guard or get the hell out of the way for fury attacks, is to use the puppet strings fully upgraded gap closing heavy attack. If timed perfectly, it will break the enemy out of their fury attack.
Interesting, I'll be honest I never upgraded h puppet string, even in other playthroughs lol would that work against bosses or jsut regular enemies ?
@@DoomWolfOfficial I have used against both. It’s harder against bosses and it does depend on the particular boss fury attack.
Laxasia's long combos in phase 1 are absolutely obliterated by the flamethrower arm. It even breaks the shield! Honestly it's the funniest thing in the game.
Interesting! Might have to keep that in mind for reasons lll
This is how I beat elden ring 11 times before playing this game and this is how I played this game until the archdeacon boss where dodging just wasn’t working
With the exception of Sekiro (because obviously) I exclusively play dodge style, and this game didn't like it lol
I got so excited when I saw that Doom had uploaded…then saw that it was a Lies of P video - a game that I know literally nothing about
That being said, Doom’s video style is good enough that even if you don’t know anything about the game he’s playing, it’s still hilarious
this is a mood.
I appreciate the kind words my friend :) don't worry the next video will be a return to form ;P lol
I don't like it, but there's a lot of stuff I don't like that is perfectly valid. but if lies of P is going to have the ending and final battle that it does, it should give the player the opportunity to become invested in the characters and develop a relationship so the ending has literally any amount of emotional impact. but as it is, Geppetto is just Some Guy, a glorified quest board with limited dialogue options lol the game doesn't give us a chance to like him or care about his opinion of us. we aren't given a sense of the history between Geppetto and us.
basically, my gaming background is a lot of Dragon Age by bioware who is known for their player-NPC relationships so seeing a story with so much emotional potential being done poorly is a real shame. that ending could be so gutting, it could be a story about the unique pain of needing to break away from your family to be true to yourself and the pain of paternal rejection but it's not T_T
anyway thanks for coming to my Ted talk and once again, bioware, if you're reading this, ya boy could really use dragon age 4 rn, thanks
For the green monsters slam attack, you can just dodge through its legs while charging.
can you? never was at that close range, even in normal play throughs haha
I find it funny that your first boss weapon for the no blocking run was the one withe the special ability to block while attacking.
lol I picked it because on my first playthrough I used it and puppet it ripper and they were amazing, second playthrough was with strength weapons and I just...no lol, SO I wanted to use something I was familar with
but yeah I just avoided using the charge attack when it might have blocked something haha
Man upgrades P organ to defeat hand...
well, it worked! lmao
Try that trident boss weapon you get. It works well with Dex if you put the dex crank on it and the charge attack has so much range and it's a quick single hit I found it broke bosses stances so well and you can outspace so many attacks with its charge R2 insane range.
interesting! I never tried it in my original playthrough so maybe I'll give it a look, thanks!
Only commenting because of the “LIKE, COMMENT, SUBSCRIBE” in the P Organ menu, that was genius
I'm glad you liked that bit lol
I am so used to dark souls dodging and me only doing that to the point that I forget to even block I only dodged
It works, the game just really wants you to deflect lol
I did until The Nameless Puppet second phase, lol. Then i had to block and parry with PTSD from Sekiro resurfaced.
That's pretty fair! Most people have seemed to stop at laxasia haha
This is kinda just how I played my first play through, I blocked a little, but could never get the timing on the majority of bosses so I just banged my head against a wall
Haha yeah, it's harder than dodging but more rewarding
People already did the "no weapon" challenge (meaning not attacking or blocking or parrying), so yeah, just no blocking/parrying is very doable.
Me, having a full time job just wanting to make content
Well lilaggy did something harder first soooo too bad doom

@@DoomWolfOfficial Sure. Great vid man. It's still a pretty cool challenge. Btw, you nailed it with your Rising Dodge take, and it seems Neowiz agrees because they already turned it into a default ability while you were making this video (it has been replaced by another upgrade in the P organ).

@@DoomWolfOfficial I'm planning through 9 right now and I'm having a blast
Dearest Doom Wolf,
I applaud your ability to attempt rather difficult challenges in games, such as beating it without blocking. As always, I am impressed, but this time you have overlooked one simple solution...just move.
-Me, maybe
I think you're the first one to make this joke lmao
You sir are a hero!
Thanks but we both know jk Leeds is the true hero lol
The entire legion arm design for blocking without using the block input, missed opportunity ngl
That doesn't feel like the spirit of the run tho lol
I recently bought Lies of P and my biggest complaint with the game is how nearly every endgame boss has 2 healthbars, I'd much prefer if the cutscene would cut in later in the fight of a single bar, like Fire Giant or Maliketh from Elden Ring.
I dislike how out of no where the bosses get the ability to hit you after you have stance broken them, only because it's never taught to you, it just kinda happens, then you have to wonder if every boss does it lol
This is actually how I've been playing I think Im on act 8 and haven't blocked once so I know that this is possible I just got really good at dodging edit and with fuoco dodging to the left when he starts to ready the attack can get you out of it's radious most of the time
I have many things I want to say about this, but I wont until you finish the game lol
@@DoomWolfOfficialeletric lady says hello lol
@@joaopedrogarrefa1751 something tells me that fight won't be fun
I mean. Your points are valid, this is just a silly video I did lol
Yes this game really _really_ wants you to block / deflect lol
But I generally prefer a dodge only play style myself haha
Bonus points if you do it without dodging 🍷🦐
If I make a no dodging video you have to put this but with blocking on it lol
@@DoomWolfOfficial No blocking or dodging, BUT maybe parri- ok it was meant to be just ridiculous annoyingly hard, which is the point of it, but maybe an actually decent challenge would be perfectly deflecting every attack like an NG+7 no Prayer Bead Charmless Sekiro run basically lmao
I misread the popup on the red attacks at the start of the game and went through the entire game thinking they were something you could ONLY avoid by getting out of the way
It got pretty hard towards the end lol many bosses i was super confused about what they intended for you to do
Thats actually what I thought while playing the demo and was like "god why can't I dodge any of these", then the other runners told me the truth lmao
My natural instinct is dodge so it took a lot of counter programming to know when to dodge, block, perfect guard or just run away 😂
same, and I mean you totally can still dodge, but this game _really_ wants you to deflect lol
What a coincidence i just finished the same challenge run, It really isnt that bad if you use the Green Monster amulet for lax, i did not fight nameless tho
Yeah lax healing though can go kick rocks lol, nameless isn't as hard has lax for this
I didn't start blocking until the nameless puppet, played it like bloodborne
Nice! A couple people have said that but a lot of them say it was laxasia that caused them to block haha
i have beaten the game without parying , idon't know about it how could i missed this. 🤣😂
hey that just means you beat it on what I consider to be harder than normal mode haha
i found it out way too late, but you can move the circle in the skilltree with your stick lol. felt like i was taking more time trying to select the skill i want, than to actually fighting bosses xD
That's what I was trying to do in he video and it still snapped to the wrong ones lol
Someone like me, who is absolutely abysmal at partying, would have a nightmare with this game. And I did.
but was it a fun nightmare? lol
Fun fact:
At 3:54, the text in the demo originally said "Is cute baby" which I found hilarious, seems it was fixed in the full release
lmao I wish they would have left that
Didn't know blocking removes regenerating health and also damn laxasia heals fast with that attack.
specifically the critical attack removes it, but deflecting builds up their stance so you can get that more reliably. also, yes, yes she does lol
It's funny you play this run how I normally play all he time just dodges lol. Some of the amulets are unnecessary boss ones. Gg non the less.
thanks lol
Can't you stop enemies from regenerating health using consumables? Laxasia also takes extra damage from acid iirc, so 5 acid canisters would have probably done fine (and saw toothed gears for once you run out).
Maybe? It's been a minutes since I've made this video..or played this game lol, and yeah, she's allergic to acid I think, I remember using it on my first playthrough and thinking it was really strong against her at least, but I also remember throwables used to be _busted_ so I didn't want to use them here haha
I unknowingly did this run in my first play through until the final boss
haha, fair fair, I think a lot of people gravitated towards dodging because it's lower risk and works for almost everything anyway
@@DoomWolfOfficial i just assumed it was gonna be more like dark souls than sekiro

Different topic. Can you beat elden ring without rolling or dodging in general(not allowed to use ashes of war to dodge either)?
Could be interesting, I do love seeing the crazy cool spacing people can do on bosses
In my playthrough, i rarely blocked or perfect blocked. I just brute forced my way though the game. I did use the summons.
for a second I completely forgot you could summon for bosses and was very confused lol
when i played the demo I only dodged and absolutely hated it, the game def _wants_ you to block and deflect lol
@DoomWolfOfficial I absolutely know that's what the game wants me to do, and I could have actually taken the take to do it, but I didn't feel like I could because everyone was saying to parry like sekiro. The problem is that I have never played that, and the parry system in it looks ultra intimidating.
Its funny that some of the bosses I had the most difficulty with I troed with summon and it made it HARDER to beat those specific bosses well pretty kuch only two, the brotherhood part 2 and Simon, simon gave me a hard time without summon but WITH summon I could not for the life of me beat him so I told myself let me try without summoning and it worked the fight ended up being much easier and for the brotherhood it also made the fight ha
Rd for some reason but I was too stubborn to try to beat it myself telling myself if they're gonna summon then so will I.
Haha lies of P-ness
Haha, nice
There is an amulet that allows you to dodge red attack
You know what's crazy, I think you are the only person that commented that, unless the other people deleted it after I mentioned it haha
