I’m reading Don Quixote on vacation in Bosnia right now - packed it on a whim because I remembered how fun you found it in a video a few months ago. Having a blast with it - thanks for the rec!
I'm on book 6 of the expanse and I'm loving it. Which is a tough place to be when recommending something. Hey don't worry at book X it picks up is a hard sell! But i'm seriously interested in Mercy of the Gods and I'm really looking forward to what you have to say.
"As always, life is crazy for me right now" 😂 Sounds like a fun reading month! I'm finishing up Side Jobs and very much recognize your review for it. Also reading the last two books of the Howl's Moving castle trilogy and the Spear Cuts through Water this month. (and more...)
I remember re-evaluating my music taste a while ago. I went through my CD collection thinking, "what was late teens/early 20s me thinking with this stuff?" I hope it's a productive and profound process for you!
I hope you like Klara and the Sun! I read it a few years ago and liked the premise more than the execution but I’m interested in reading more by Ishiguro.
I think I've been hyper focused on your Dresden content since finding your channel, but I had no idea you were reading through Temeraire. It's been a very long time since I read it but I remember really liking it. I need to go back and watch your content on the books you've read so far. Goes without saying but I can't wait for your Ghost Stories reaction.
I listened to Klara and the Sun on audiobook and I enjoyed it. It's a story I think about regularly. I just finished Never let me go by the same author and enjoyed it as well.
Temeraire series..... Another set to add to my collection. Also I genuinely thought "getting my life together" was gonna be a book, wasn't expecting a document of your life 😂
Dead Cat Tail Assassins title and cover really grabs my attention. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts. Thanks for talking about The Wager book a while ago. I picked it up when it was on sale earlier this year (based on your recommendation) and loved the book. It was so engrossing and mind blowing story that inspired me to work hard through challenges. Thanks.
If possible, it would be great to hear what you thought of the short stories at the start of the Ghost Story episode. I’d suggest being prepared to do that just in case… you might see why. I have the day marked on my calendar this time so I won’t forget to check in!
Klara and the Sun is on my TBR list, so I'm eager to hear your thoughts. I think you'd also enjoy Never Let Me Go by the same author. As for types of videos, I know you're not buying as many books lately, but have you ever thought of filming another bookstore shopping video? I really enjoyed those.
B&N trip to pick up The Cat Tail Assassins and Mercy of the Gods today. Yay! Didn't like The Expanse or just not in the mood? As far as vids I'd like to see. Buddy reads with Korrey. Don't think of it as a mess of books on the floor. It's a dragon's hoard.
My August TBR: «The Green Angel Tower part 1 & 2» (Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, #3) by Tad Williams (Epic Fantasy) «The Thousandfold Thought» (The Prince of Nothing #3) by R. Scott Bakker (Grimdark/Dark Epic Fantasy) MBR: «Leviathan Falls» (The Expanse, #9) by James S.A. Corey (Space opera)
The Dead Cat Tail Assassins! If you're from the Caribbean like I am, how that book ends is just going to absolutely tickle you. One of the best books of the year for me, hope you like that one!
Now that I'm caught up on the One Piece manga, the goal is the anime. Reading wise, I'm trying Naruto. I'm five volumes in. It hasn't grabbed me yet, but I'm trying to give it a fair shot. I need a new fantasy series now that I have caught up to Dresden.
As one of the "Dresden people", you are ofc right that Id want you to do it sooner but at the same time I think its best to take a healthy and chill aproach! Sad to see there was no mention of a shoter video about some of the short stories. Will you cover them as part of the Ghost Story video? I feel like I need to hear your thoughts on the Karen POV one especially!
Many hate GOT so it's not the ringing endorsment anymore. It went from GOT was good prior season 8 now 7 no 6 no 5 is when it started failing, that's half a series XD. But i get ya. Nothing is good for someone.
Bought The Dead Cat Tail Assassins after this video. I’ve read 2 novellas from P Djeli Clark before and I thought both were good but not amazing. Let’s see how this novel goes since one of my problems was the fact that the short length didn’t allow for great characterization imho.
@@henrywayne5724 ahahahah yea the first chapters are kinda slow. But once you have done with that It has great world building, more p.o.v, and it throws quite a few punches . Be aware that you are dealing with i think the longest fantasy series ever written, as far as i know. Great stuff imo
At least the book you're waiting for is probably out I have to wait until October for the one I'm waiting for but it's john gwynn fury of the gods book 3 of the bloodswon saga
Excited for the video on the 8th! I plan on finishing wheel of time 6 (btw did you ever take notes while reading? There are so many names that I already pften forget about thay Im wondering if I should), read my cousin rachel, finish ship of magic and maybe beartown #2
I told my boyfriend that I couldn't decide if I wanted to read The First Law series or Three Body Problem next and we jokingly said we should ask you Merphy 😂. If you have an answer for us let me know!
Not knowing your taste anymore isn't bad. Knowing your taste all the time screams of someone who is closed minded or fully actuated. I assume most of us haven't achieved nirvada and know every aspect of ourselves and others by 30s...so maybe just maybe taste change and your nostalgia was cause something was well written or you didn't nitpick it like you do for new series. Overall it's okay to not know your taste anymore.
Not me hoping every month that Fool's Errand will be on the TBR. Like, we're either gonna get rant Merphy or gush Merphy, so either way's a win.
I enjoy how authentic you are…”well, that’s just how it is.” 🤣 Real life. Thanks for sharing!

My fancy would be tickled by a reading of Toll of the Hounds ...🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Yesssss!!! I’m on reapers gale right now and then I’ll be caught up!!!!
I’m reading Ghost Story now and loving it!!

I am excited to see how you feel about Ghost story, because it is a smaller quieter book after the bombast of changes
I was really disappointed dead cat tail assassins wasn't about cat assassins. But it remains on my tbr😊
Assuming you like it, I would love a spoiler video on the full mushroom trilogy!
I remember re-evaluating my music taste a while ago. I went through my CD collection thinking, "what was late teens/early 20s me thinking with this stuff?" I hope it's a productive and profound process for you!
Great idea to reflect and introspect about what book characteristics seem to be consistent across your most liked books.
If you like Ishiguro, Remains of the Day is an absolute must read. It is not SFF, but it's one of my favorite books.
I hope you like Klara and the Sun! I read it a few years ago and liked the premise more than the execution but I’m interested in reading more by Ishiguro.
I loved the P Djeli Clark book Master of Djinn. I'm excited to read the cat book.
I can relate to favorites being surprises and can’t wait to watch that introspection video! So happy with Klara and the Sun so far! ❤

Taste changing i such a wonderful sign that you are growing and discovering new things in the art you are enjoying. I look forward to that video!

So random! I just picked up Klara and the Sun a few days ago and didn't know you'd be reading it too! Can't wait to hear your thoughts

Disturbing lack of Sun Eater on here 😜
Such an incredible series

Merphy, have you read 'The wandering inn' by pirateaba? If no, can you read it? Really liked it.😊
I thought that shelf was coming down!
The expanse has a show and people called it a sci fi GOT...
Many hate GOT so it's not the ringing endorsment anymore. It went from GOT was good prior season 8 now 7 no 6 no 5 is when it started failing, that's half a series XD. But i get ya. Nothing is good for someone.

Hoping to see "the wandering inn" on the tbr list one day. Cheers
I started it yesterday. Please sell it to me harder before I DNF at Chapter 3😭

I saw a hardback of the Ambergris trilogy for $12. Is it worth it?
Almost caught up watching, finally 😂😂 for one person, anyways 😅

(in Megamind meme format) No Malazan??? :(
Please on the thursday vlog I kindly ask for a lot of interludes...please😢
Bookshelves should be a little messy. Shows they are used and appreciated.
