Might be a bit late, but I'd just like to point out that Pichu is shown alongside Jigglypuff, who was more-or-less #1 on the "characters most likely to be cut from the roster" list.
What's awesome about Ridley is that they actually used the original size Ridley had in the original metroid, while also making him hunched over so hes technically bigger, just hunched over into the size of original Metroid
That's how far sakurai went to keep him lore friendly and include him in the game

Ridley was never as far-fetched as people think. People always bashed Sakurai for not having Ridley as a playable character and talking about "oh, he hates the character" and stupid things like that. In reality, Sakurai and his team have been trying to find a way to make Ridley a fighter since Brawl. The only reason why it took so long was because they couldn't find a way to make it work back then. And, now, both the wish of the fans AND Sakurai himself has come true
I feel bad for Sakurei being bashed by the people. Feels bad when people get to much request huh?
Sakurai said he needs to see if the characters are "dancing" in his head to include it in the game.
Ridley just take some time to learn how to dance.

You know it. This game has me really conflicted on what my mains are going to be. I used to main Pit, Game N Watch for a bit, and put a lot of Time into Rosalina. I thought Inkling would be my main for sure this time. Now we have Daisy. But with some of the other changes, so many more characters may end up fitting my style.

I know right! Everyone in RUclips and Twitter are disappointed that Daisy made it in as playable character and Waluigi is still an assist trophy but it makes sense because all the playable Super Mario representatives are in the mainline game or have their own series.

Honestly, I've been watching reactions from all over the internet and I have yet to see ANYONE who wasn't happy about Daisy. Yeah, everyone was sad about Waluigi, but no one was angry about Daisy.
I'm sure there were plenty of viewers like us without reaction vids who were exited to finally see Daisy as her own character instead of just a palette swap for another Smash.
You can't imagine my reaction... It was a mix of evrything (yelling, shaking, crying...)

I accepted the fact that Ridley is so enormous that he couldn't be played in smash. It's just impossible to do it, for Ridley fans, it's just fantasy.... But then again, Sakurai did the impossible. I take back my words now... SMASH BROS is the Ultimate crossover we have to date!! Kudos to you Sakurai!!
