I used to go to this mall lot as a kid and when I needed a pair of shoes, I would go to all the shoe stores and then find the best price then go back to the shoe store that had the best price and the shoes I like the most.🕺🥳
There had been some changes to the mall after the video was filmed, the Carson's property was bought by the mall owner which plans to bring mixed use development, entertainment, restaurants, etc., although no official plan has been announced. They actually started to renovate the mall by bringing new flooring and replacing the square ceiling tile with some thin wood panels, although I'm going to miss the old look. To be honest, ever since Forman Mills opened, the mall kind of went downhill, especially because the mall dedicates itself to a more middle income population, while Forman Mills seems for a low income population, I kind of hope they leave but it's not under the mall owner's control. Some stores have been added too, some small known chain stores like Miniso and even some mom and pop stores, which isn't a bad thing, but I do hope North Riverside Park Mall will find a way to turn some things around.
What I like about this mall is they filled the vacant Sears with the arcade and the discount store. Hoping they can fill the Carson's. Looks like it has a nice food court and everything!
I didn't realize Forman Mills opened, in the old Sears space. I do remember before Sears closed, that they downsized their store here, and Round 1 Arcade opened on the first floor. I wish this mall could fill in the vacant Carson's(Pirie Scott) space, which you go by about at 3:11. Interesting Julio's Jewelry Repair stayed in their space, and didn't move after Carson's closed.
I, live up here in Detroit, Michigan. We have Forman Mills Stores, that has taken old chain stores that left the inner city of Detroit City Limits. Forman Mills is a Clothing Warehouse Store, and a Discount Department Store in the inner city of Detroit and also has locations in Southeastern Michigan. Forman Mills, has no Mall locations in the Suburbs.
what I really, really appreciate about NRPM is the outsized amount of mom and pop stores. Maybe some of these other dead or dying malls could take up the same business model. Lower rents, and give local businesses a shot.
I can't believe this dump is still opened. It looks dead. It once was the hot spot in the area from the late 1970's into the early 1990's. Once the neighborhood started turning, so to did the mall. My wife and would never go there today. We'd be easy targets.

I grew up in Berwyn. I remember when the mall was built. I used to go there a lot. I haven't been back there in almost 30yrs so I loved this video!

I love malls And I also miss them like N. Field Square in Bourbonnais Illinois
This is a good video, one of my favorite malls you ever done.

I literally there today I live by that mall
I’m lost in this video. Haven’t been since 1990, before that I went with my mom in my early teens. Loved burgerville junction and ponderosa.

I wonder if anything will take the place of the former Carson Pirie Scott.
I know this mall like the back of my hand.
