Warren is the man! Since Al Schmitt and Bruce Swedien are no longer with us, Warren is the guy to listen to. I hope he's with us for many years to come.
I’ll take Warren’s recommendation any day for a great value studio hardware : 1) Audient Interface - (my choice be iD24, the fact that you can insert external gear, and line input option straight to A-D converter bypassing the Audient mic pres) 2) Kali Audio LP6, Presonus Studio Monitor (my pick would be Eris Studio 8 or Eris Pro series coaxial series), Audio Technica Headphones (My choices would be ATH M40x and ATH R70x) 3) Lewitt 640 TS, Lauten Audio Atlantis FC-387, Neumann U47 FET or Warm Audio WA-47 similarly quite good too. Of course Shure SM57 too, can’t go wrong with that. Also mportant too in investing to flatten-out studio room as much we could spend on the hardware/software wise. Sweetwater has all the said equipment , check them out and read the reviews 😎
This is an excellent interview, on so many levels…. For so many reasons. The info shared, certainly. Mitch’s interview style, absolutely. He kept the questions brief, and let Warren tell the stories. Nice job.
Thank you Warren and Mitch great interview with Warren. Long time fan of Warren's. Warren it has been a delight to follow you and is a class act. Looking forward to hear more interviews. Sweetwater! Has always been top notch across the many avenues. Keep on Jammin!!!
@Producelikeapro, your teachings are beyond helpful Warren... I've learned so much over the time I've been following you! Thank you again and of course Mitch is the man 🤘🏻
Thank you for a very nice portrait interview. So nice to hear the story behind the channel and how he and his wife Kasia found a way and thinking ahead when starting the channel. I´m a member of Produce Lika Pro and for me it´s been great. I was looking for the best place to learn and did a lot of research, and i´m now a lifetime member. These feedback fridays where you are getting feedback on your mixes is great. Sometimes listening and learn is your best friend.
People don't want to hear about the rich and famous working hard to get there because it reminds them of how hard they don't work. It's easier to think you have bad luck rather than realizing that you're just lazy.
Thanks a LOT for yet another GREAT interview guys ~ Warren: "The Lewitt LCT 640 TS" - are you using it for vocals, acoustic guitar and amps etc... And will (I guess you will, since it's your favorite mic) you recommend this (Lewitt LCT 640 TS) for any of the Warm Audio mics, especially for vocals..? Thanks a lot for your answer : ) Peace, Love & MUSIC ~ from Norway 🙂
Watched the jaco doc..last night…someone said when your all consumed like jaco was so many other parts of life fall by the wayside and that’s not, a healthy thing.
Thank you Mitch for this amazing video. I love Sweetwater, wish you guys were here in Australia as well.. Very professional aaaaand generous company. Warren.........If I was a chick I'd fall in love you..... Amazing person, amazing human....... Thank you for this interview!!!!!
I'd say if you don't have acoustics then buy that... then if you do upgrade that and your monitors... you can do much more will much less if you can hear everything... being able to hear everything anything does with zero guessing steps you up so much more than super expensive analogue... although, you will need a clean conversion to monitor, and there is the interface upgrade lol
Excellent video. I like Warren very much. He is a good guy and has made some excellent videos. It is unfortunate that he has now fallen on hard times. Nevertheless, he had a great positive attitude. The failure of Spitfire Studio would have destroyed many people. Not Warren. With a straight face and no apologies he now has a tiny bedroom home studio where he makes some nice, well produced YT videos. A strong and talented guy. I wish him the best and will continue to look for his videos.
Haha it this a joke? I assume so! Went from a lovely 600 sq ft studio to a purpose built, two control room 2,000 sq ft studio! Which Steven Slate sub rents one of the control rooms from me! Haha
Being UNCOMPROMISING is a major coin-toss to be honest. On one hand, you have artists like Prince, and many others of course, who are simply extraordinary. They can afford to be uncompromising...even from the get-go. On the other hand, there are A LOT of people who THINK they're extraordinary...but their success would have NEVER happened if they hadn't compromised and listened to labels, producers, writers, arrangers, etc. The trick is knowing when, where, and what to compromise or not. And that's akin to beating the house in a casino! HAHA!
If you're Prince and you're writing contemporary to the time sounding Pop songs then you don't need to compromise, you're already doing what a label, publisher or manager would want you to do!
Quit sticking GIANT microphones in front of everyones faces - like amateur You Tubers. It's distracting & unnecessary. You guys of all people should know this!
It was an audio podacst, they also filmed it, hence why it looks like this. If you see the other things we've done together, that were done just for video, you won't see a mic!

That .ic placement is hilarious, familiar with the pattern and allows you to aim it parallel to the ground, so you do not have to drop down like that!

They like big mics, they cannot lie…
Take a breath
It's a recording studio, hence the mics. No studio uses lavelier mics for vocals. Get yourself an education... 🤦🤡
