  • The Cowboy cb4500 has been for many years a fantastic machine for doing heavy leather work especially for saddle making and similar work. The large bobbin size and the very thick thread it can handle makes it even more attractive. Many people previously have bought these machines only to find that they are not good when wanting to do lighter work like wallets and purses, canvases and fabrics. The large standard needle plate and feed dog meant that getting the stitching any closer to the edge than 5mm or 3/16" on a thin product was not going to go well at all. With this narrow needle plate and feed dog set it is very easy to do light weigh work and 3mm (1/8") from the edge is now quite easily done. With the big bobbin and improved shaping of the needle plate it has done a lot to improve my work quality and production times as well. If you would like to see the story on how and why we developed this set I will try and put a link below to a post I am doing in Leatherworker.net where you can also see a lot of the other stuff I post there in my profile section. Or just google RockyAussie on Leatherworker.net. Here is the link I think.....

Does your CB6900 have the two tapped holes in the back to install a drop-down edge guide? My 4500 is from around 2009, and I don't think it has it.

Yes the CB6900 comes with the holes to attach a drop down edge guide and the CB 4500 does as well these days.

That's a very noisy machine compared to my cobra 4

Yep this machine is over 20 years old now and the old box style speed reducers were a bit noisy that way. The new ones are way quieter.
