It amuses me that transwomen try so hard to argue that AGP isn't real but if you just spend a few minutes on subreddits frequented by TIM you'll see numerous comments and posts detailing the sexual gratification they get from wearing women's clothes or being referred to as female.
You don't even have to go there. I have recently found them on women's bra forums where women discuss different styles and issues with wearing a bra. This is something that brings many complications to women's lives. But you have these AGPs treating it like the greatest joy in their lives. They talk about it in a completely different way than women do. They don't have to deal with breasts like women do. They don't experience tenderness or bloating. Their breasts are manufactured in a surgical suite, so they're perfect. Women have to deal with one breast being a different size and with them not sitting perfectly in a bra. Again, these men do not understand what life is like as a woman. They only see it as a sexual thing.

It's just laughable to me how he tries to justify that AGP isn't a thing because I feel like he ticks quite a few boxes. I've been aware of Contrapoint's presence online before he blew up and decided to transition, and even though he's done a terrific job of covering up his tracks, if you Google hard enough some of his old antics can still be found. Apart from putting his philosophy degree to the test and being one of those annoying athiest RUclipsrs, he used to talk quite a bit about the fetish scene and his views on BDSM. His cross-dressing back then was definitely part of that, in the sense that it helped with taking on a more submissive role. Something which he often joked about in a self-deprecating manner. Any person who has navigated trans spaces with a critical lens knows that there are a lot of comments that fetishize womanhood to the point of it being super obvious. The notion that AGP doesn't exist in any shape or form is incredibly intellectually dishonest and I am sure that most people who defend it know that deep down. I get it though, the need for it to be not true. It's one of those things that can be used against the trans community if they give it some legitimacy, so it makes sense that they disagree with it at any cost.

I think it's more like her first name is casual, something a friend or family member might call her. For someone who doesn't know her to call her that isn't _explicitly_ rude, but kinda inappropriately familiar. It's not her professional name, and so they're explicitly not treating her in a professional capacity.
In my memory I remember few dozen of similar examples. It is most often men, who are lower on job/rank to a woman, but think they know better or that woman does not deserve her place and there should be them instead. They are using diminutive version of name of woman when speaking about her with others, often using words like "sweetie, let me explain" when speaking to her directly. In general - it is behaviour of "small man", who's "manliness" got hurt because woman can do better than them and in their misogynistic mind it is impossible situation, as they think that women can't be smart and can't do anything good, so even mediocre man like them must be better. That very first counter-argument of Contra is do dumb. When Blanchard was doing that theory, transmen were just 0.05% of all transgender people, not 50% like they are now. And non-binary was not existing as idea at all. So of course he would not be able to look at something that was not there at a time. Second thing - he was specifically dealing with males in his clinics. So obviously that he would meet "males who want to be transwomen" and not "females who want to be transmen". It is just obvious that he would know more about males, as 100% of his work was about them. Every scientist is not supposed to know everything in the world - most have very narrow field of research.

But was/is Blanchard's typology really so strict? The issue isn't the singular motivation of these men, it's the motivations of them plural. Most human behaviors have multiple different causes/aims and objectives and rewards. AGPs have one predominant motivation whereas HSTS have another, but there is huge overlap between the two. And the motivations of these men changes from one situation to the next, and over the course of their lives,

Though one's sexuality may influence one's presentation and the way they show in the world, to say this behavior is indicative of everyone with AGP, is bit like saying all heterosexual men are this way, or all homosexual women are that way, by virtue of nothing other than who they're attracted to. Whether one is abusive, narcissistic, needs society to believe something about them to feel validated, or any other character trait isn't, by definition, AGP. I watched Contra’s video before I started questioning a lot of this gender identity topic. I was a fan of Contra’s channel and even then I was very confused at the point trying to be made. One second saying they are turned on by being perceived as a woman and the next second saying the opposite.
There are plenty of people who admit that they have AGP and that it fits their own lived experience. One has to wonder if some people w AGP convince themselves they don’t.. because once they’re on hormones it lowers the sex drive, plus they now have a community of people rewarding them for seeing themselves as actual women. (Not saying ALL trans people are AGP, there actually seems to be many different forms of dysphoria development). There are also trans women who identify with HSTS type and feel like the trans community has changed now that people with paraphilias are entering in droves because statistically there are more of them.
Autogynephiles have always made up the majority of trans identified males, but the AGP subtype keeps getting larger, while the HSTS subtype stays fairly constant(though that is likely to change since parents are allowed to medically transition their GNC sons now, at a very early age). I have wondered if there could be a third subtype that’s new, like autoandrophobia. I’m convinced autogynephobia is what has caused the enormous increase in teenage girls wanting to transition, and I can empathize with what some of their motivations may be. But what would cause a similar phenomenon in males? I can think of a few things, like first hand experience of male violence perpetrated on their mothers by their fathers/stepfathers, early exposure to the type of p0rn that used to be referred to as gonzo, but is now standard, and maybe the leftist/liberal tendency to paint cis-het white males as evil. There is a mtftm named Hacsi Horvath, who’s much older(60’s), who seems to have fallen into the first group. He’s a really interesting guy. Basically, he said he saw firsthand how violent and dangerous men could be, and he didn’t want to become that.

Dr Ray Blanchard recently gave an interview on The Gender Dysphoria Alliance channel. If interested in this topic, it is well worth a listen. He worked decades as a researcher in this field, starting in the 1980s. He is a straight shooter so you can see why he would be a controversial figure that hurts tender GIE feelings. I thought the interview was interesting and some relevant while provocative points were made.

I'm starting to think it is not unique to trans-identified people. Given that I have observed similar behaviours and motivations with a lot of biological women as well, predominantly in ones with histrionic and narcissistic personality disorders, also in some with borderline personality disorder, but it's not nearly as common as the other two. Afterall, Cluster B (antisocial, borderline, narcissistic and histrionic) personality disorders in general are very common among the trans-identified population. HSTS does not overlap AGPTS exactly because autogynephilia does not overlap exclusive male homosexuality. HSTS are exclusively homosexual. The transsexuals that claim to be bisexual are straight or quasistraight (mostly heterosexual) with possibly pseudobisexual behavior because of their behavioral AGP. Much more rare is when AGPTS claims to be HSTS, just like a non-trans AGP man may try to pass as a gay man who seeks validation of their feminine internal personal via sex/relationships with gender-conforming men. So even a very "feminine" HSTS-looking trans like Blaire White may be AGP, therefore not homosexual. A straight/mostly straight man after all.
Ray Blanchard has confirmed one male needs gynephilia to be autogynephilic. It seems like some gender critical people want to redefine autogynephilia to be synonymous with other transsexuality or even male gender non-conformity in general. We are obscuring other factors that contribute for HSTS to transition (internalized homophobia, internalized sexism, fetish for straight-identified man, or seek for heterosexual-looking relationships).
There isn’t overlap between the two types of MTF transsexual. One type is always homosexual, and the AGP type is never homosexual, but sometimes bisexual or asexual. In the case of bisexual AGPs, it seems that what they’re often really turned on by is the idea of having sex with a man as a woman and not necessarily physically attracted to men at all. Whereas the homosexual transsexuals are always attracted to men and never to women. Another difference is that HSTSs have gender dysphoria in early childhood. Their gender dysphoria usually depletes as they get older and most simply grow up to be gay men, but a few don’t lose their gender dysphoria as they get older and those are the ones who transition. They usually transition at an early age and are very effeminate from their early childhood. AGPs don’t have gender dysphoria when they’re young. They have a fetish for crossdressing, but when they aren’t horny, they’re normal boys who are happy being boys. For most AGPs, this remains the case their entire lives. But for some, their fetish continues to grow and eventually turns into gender dysphoria, causing them to want to transition later in life, usually sometime in their middle age. So the two types are very distinct from one another. There is no overlap, and any similarities are merely coincidence, and also not so similar upon closer inspection.

You don't even have to go there. I have recently found them on women's bra forums where women discuss different styles and issues with wearing a bra. This is something that brings many complications to women's lives. But you have these AGPs treating it like the greatest joy in their lives. Their breasts are manufactured in a surgical suite, so they're perfect. Women have to deal with one breast being a different size and with them not sitting perfectly in a bra. It's just laughable to me how he tries to justify that AGP isn't a thing because I feel like he ticks quite a few boxes. I've been aware of Contrapoint's presence online before he blew up and decided to transition, and even though he's done a terrific job of covering up his tracks, if you Google hard enough some of his old antics can still be found. Apart from putting his philosophy degree to the test and being one of those annoying athiest RUclipsrs, he used to talk quite a bit about the fetish scene and his views on BDSM. His cross-dressing back then was definitely part of that, in the sense that it helped with taking on a more submissive role. Something which he often joked about in a self-deprecating manner.
Any person who has navigated trans spaces with a critical lens knows that there are a lot of comments that fetishize womanhood to the point of it being super obvious. The notion that AGP doesn't exist in any shape or form is incredibly intellectually dishonest and I am sure that most people who defend it know that deep down. I get it though, the need for it to be not true. It's one of those things that can be used against the trans community if they give it some legitimacy, so it makes sense that they disagree with it at any cost.

I think it's more like her first name is casual, something a friend or family member might call her. In my memory I remember few dozen of similar examples. It is most often men, who are lower on job/rank to a woman, but think they know better or that woman does not deserve her place and there should be them instead. They are using diminutive version of name of woman when speaking about her with others, often using words like "sweetie, let me explain" when speaking to her directly.

When Blanchard was doing that theory, transmen were just 0.05% of all transgender people, not 50% like they are now. And non-binary was not existing as idea at all. So of course he would not be able to look at something that was not there at a time.
Second thing - he was specifically dealing with males in his clinics. So obviously that he would meet "males who want to be transwomen" and not "females who want to be transmen". It is just obvious that he would know more about males, as 100% of his work was about them. Every scientist is not supposed to know everything in the world - most have very narrow field of research.

I seriously think many AGPs don't see the connection between their fetish and their trans identification, somehow. Seems weird or even impossible, when it's so blatantly obvious to the rest of us. Especially to women forced to accommodate them. But was/is Blanchard's typology really so strict? The issue isn't the singular motivation of these men, it's the motivations of them plural. Most human behaviors have multiple different causes/aims and objectives and rewards. AGPs have one predominant motivation whereas HSTS have another, but there is huge overlap between the two. And the motivations of these men changes from one situation to the next, and over the course of their lives,
Typology was strict in that there are two sides of it, but it was not strict on how those sides are achieving their goals.

While perhaps these behaviors and character qualities might somewhat be typical of AGP activists, to say all AGPs act and have this ideology is, I think, a bit too general.
Though one's sexuality may influence one's presentation and the way they show in the world, to say this behavior is indicative of everyone with AGP, is bit like saying all heterosexual men are this way, or all homosexual women are that way, by virtue of nothing other than who they're attracted to. However, I do understand where you're coming from.
AGP is just the attraction of oneself as a female. Had Contrapoints either read the theory or been honest about defining it, it's clear that there is variation in the part of "being a woman" that is arousing. Also consider the escalation needed for porn users to continue being aroused. Cross dressing in private under the impression that this is transgressive may have aroused him. Cross dressing while being cheered on lacks the key component of being transgressive.

I typed a really long, in depth response about how a lot of people into being adult babies, foot fetishists, people into puppy play and things like this often times say the same exact things Contra says here about it being more affirming than sexul....I talked to a lot of these people when I did some work as a Dominatrix, but youtube won't let me post it. Exhibit A: find the video that just came out by Truly called "My Girlfriend Identifies as a Cat"....she also claims it's not sexual, too, meanwhile we can all see the particular dynamic and ways of acting that show otherwise.
For most people deeply into a fetish, it is a lifestyle, not just confined to the bedroom or sex. It often doesn't involve sexual contact...that's a part of the fetish aspect. It's like a form of long term foreplay.
There's also a highly compulsive and escapist aspect of lifestyle kinks, too, just like this one. They love being in a particular headspace, where they can live through the thing they desire to be, and they all find it incredibly affirming on multiple levels. There's a whole subreddit where guys share degrading and violent depictions of women and their desire to live through the female character/women. It goes deeper than just putting on female garments.
It's about taboo, regressive roles. People who are into humiliation, like Contra clearly is, don't feel the same feelings around humiliation. Most of them find it affirming. For example, I used to have this guy that just wanted me to text him every so often to verbally degrade him. He'd text me about every two weeks saying he's starting to feel too confident and needing to be reminded and validated of who he really is and the euphoria of being told "who he is"....which was this inferior male caricature he'd created in his mind. It was never outwardly sexual, but he wanted to make sure I was attractive. He was buying my time. They all have aesthetic preferences, including the ones that swear they're asexual.

There are plenty of people who admit that they have AGP and that it fits their own lived experience. One has to wonder if some people w AGP convince themselves they don’t.. because once they’re on hormones it lowers the sex drive, plus they now have a community of people rewarding them for seeing themselves as actual women. (Not saying ALL trans people are AGP, there actually seems to be many different forms of dysphoria development). There are also trans women who identify with HSTS type and feel like the trans community has changed now that people with paraphilias are entering in droves because statistically there are more of them.
Autogynephiles have always made up the majority of trans identified males, but the AGP subtype keeps getting larger, while the HSTS subtype stays fairly constant(though that is likely to change since parents are allowed to medically transition their GNC sons now, at a very early age). I have wondered if there could be a third subtype that’s new, like autoandrophobia. I’m convinced autogynephobia is what has caused the enormous increase in teenage girls wanting to transition, and I can empathize with what some of their motivations may be. But what would cause a similar phenomenon in males? I can think of a few things, like first hand experience of male violence perpetrated on their mothers by their fathers/stepfathers, early exposure to the type of p0rn that used to be referred to as gonzo, but is now standard, and maybe the leftist/liberal tendency to paint cis-het white males as evil. There is a mtftm named Hacsi Horvath, who’s much older(60’s), who seems to have fallen into the first group. He’s a really interesting guy. Basically, he said he saw firsthand how violent and dangerous men could be, and he didn’t want to become that.

He worked decades as a researcher in this field, starting in the 1980s. He is a straight shooter so you can see why he would be a controversial figure that hurts tender GIE feelings. I thought the interview was interesting and some relevant while provocative points were made.

I have seen what you said of these guys who claim that they started to become attracted to (other) men when they "transitioned" but honestly consider this, what if the trance-identified man in question was actually a super closeted homosexual or bisexual but refused to admit that he could be attracted to the same sex for reasons like internalized homophobia (yes, even bisexual men can fall victim to this) or just living in a close-minded environment be it area, family, and/or friends/peers? The guy then thinks that if he "transitions into a woman", it would take away the stigma of him wanting to be intimate with men because in his mind, he thinks he's engaging in straight sex and how "it's not gay". Essentially these men are using "transition" to come out as gay (them being sexually interested in other men) or bisexual (acknowledging his attraction to men and seeks to sex/date other men after suppressing it).
I will agree that maybe there should be another term for these kinds of trance-identified men but at the end of the day, these men are just closet-case homosexuals and bisexuals (whether it's them suppressing their same sex attraction or suppressing their opposite attraction) looking for a way to indulge in same sex debauchery and/or dating. Just a thought to consider.

There can be other motivations (such as financial incentives in the whole gay-for-pay phenomenon and meta-attraction/pseudo-bisexuality in the case of some AGP males) behind same-sex acts besides straightforward same-sex attraction, so I guess there can be 'gay sex' without any of the parties involved being genuinely gay or bi (whether 'repressed' or 'out').
Many AGP males engage in sex with other males not because of genuine attraction to males, but as the ultimate affirming 'validation' of the act itself. Autogynephiles report not remembering the face of their their imagined male partners of their sexual fantasies (which contrasts starkly with their reported gynophilic fantasies) and showing no interest in gay porn (probably because it disallows autogynephilic self-insertion).

He conducted that study in the 90s so I don't give him too much flack for it but there's a key word here that these "behavorial AGPs" more than likely have and that is internalized homophobia and trust me, internalized homophobia is a VERY common thing (especially with bisexual men) and I am more than sure it applies to this branch of AGP and they use the AGP as an excuse to hook up with men. After hearing you explain the definition of autogynephillia, and showing examples with Contra, which screams it's all about validation. I'm starting to think it is not unique to trans-identified people. Given that I have observed similar behaviours and motivations with a lot of biological women as well, predominantly in ones with histrionic and narcissistic personality disorders, also in some with borderline personality disorder, but it's not nearly as common as the other two. Afterall, Cluster B (antisocial, borderline, narcissistic and histrionic) personality disorders in general are very common among the trans-identified population. I am not at all surprised that autogynephillia, as a sexuality all about self and validation is common among the population with these personality disorders. I think I've connected the dots here.

I think they made a really good point about how sexuality isn't always sexual. They're still attracted to the idea of themselves as women in the mundane non-sexual parts of their lives, because they're attracted to women. Not sure if that makes sense but yeah. I find it frustrating when people think you can just completely ignore the fact that trans identified people experience attraction to the sex they identify with as if it has no implications on their desires to transition.

HSTS does not overlap AGPTS exactly because autogynephilia does not overlap exclusive male homosexuality. HSTS are exclusively homosexual. The transsexuals that claim to be bisexual are straight or quasistraight (mostly heterosexual) with possibly pseudobisexual behavior because of their behavioral AGP. Much more rare is when AGPTS claims to be HSTS, just like a non-trans AGP man may try to pass as a gay man who seeks validation of their feminine internal personal via sex/relationships with gender-conforming men.
So even a very "feminine" HSTS-looking trans like Blaire White may be AGP, therefore not homosexual. A straight/mostly straight man after all.
Ray Blanchard has confirmed one male needs gynephilia to be autogynephilic. It seems like some gender critical people want to redefine autogynephilia to be synonymous with other transsexuality or even male gender non-conformity in general. We are obscuring other factors that contribute for HSTS to transition (internalized homophobia, internalized sexism, fetish for straight-identified man, or seek for heterosexual-looking relationships).
There isn’t overlap between the two types of MTF transsexual. One type is always homosexual, and the AGP type is never homosexual, but sometimes bisexual or asexual. In the case of bisexual AGPs, it seems that what they’re often really turned on by is the idea of having sex with a man as a woman and not necessarily physically attracted to men at all. Whereas the homosexual transsexuals are always attracted to men and never to women.
Another difference is that HSTSs have gender dysphoria in early childhood. Their gender dysphoria usually depletes as they get older and most simply grow up to be gay men, but a few don’t lose their gender dysphoria as they get older and those are the ones who transition. They usually transition at an early age and are very effeminate from their early childhood.
AGPs don’t have gender dysphoria when they’re young. They have a fetish for crossdressing, but when they aren’t horny, they’re normal boys who are happy being boys. For most AGPs, this remains the case their entire lives. But for some, their fetish continues to grow and eventually turns into gender dysphoria, causing them to want to transition later in life, usually sometime in their middle age.
So the two types are very distinct from one another. There is no overlap, and any similarities are merely coincidence, and also not so similar upon closer inspection.
If a HSTS is turned on by the thought of being a woman, he's probably mentally focusing on the image of a male partner of that woman's.
