One of the two sensors you see is wired to the heater control box and provides window temperature data for feedback to the heating power control circuit. The second sensor is redundant. It is also wired to a terminal block near the control box, and can be easily wired into the circuit in place of the primary sensor if it should fail. This can save having to replace an entire, very expensive, window, which takes quite a bit of down time to accomplish.
