I thoroughly enjoyed Fairhaven. It’s such a wonderful, lighthearted episode. It was so nice to see Janeway let her hair down.
I wish you had included the part when Michael Sullivan gets transported to the Bridge
Just rewatched this episode, amazing.
It is so much more than the comedy Irish episode.
Yes and chicote understands more than anyone else because of the fact that he loves Janeway and knows that they can never be together and when you love someone you know that sometimes you have to let them go because that's what they need. Chacote also knows that Janeway loves him, but because she is the captain and he is her subordinate there can be nothing between them when they were marooned for on a certain planet Janeway started to allow herself I always felt the writers literally deliberately found a cure for them too soon have they been allowed to be there longer say a year perhaps or two by then the relationship between the two of them would have been what it should have been all along and they would have been nothing to stand in their way and that might not have been a bad thing because it would have explored if they even had a kid together that relationship more and it would have made the whole interaction between Chipotle and Janeway which everyone could see that they love each other that it's more than mere friendship by this time and that's the problem they don't let us explore the idea that the captain and her first officer might have in fact had May the whole thing much more interesting and it would have explored the idea of what does a person who's nowonce more in power in a position where the person she loves is in fact her subordinate again how do they manage such a relationship how does their child fit in it would have explored something and it would have also made it far more interesting because we know that the two of them obviously I love each other and the fact that seven of nine eventually we see in Picard develops a relationship a very permanent relationship with her first officer means that there's not really anything to have personally stopped it except perhaps at the time there might have been considering that seven of nine was supposed to marry chacote in another timeline and in fact the two of them had started a relationship that the admiral Janeway of the other timeline had put a squash to.
Yes Janeway is great in this episode and the delete the wife line is brilliant but I always felt that given how they thought they might be in the delta quadrant for 70 years, Janeway wouldn’t just let herself be with Chakotay (or whoever).
What I don't understand is that I cannot find the Fair Haven music theme anywhere :(
It’s on one of the Voyager releases here: lalalandrecords.com/releases/star-trek/
This episode is a unique experience for an Irish person. We just have to suspend an extreme amount of disbelief and remember that it is just a fantasy... otherwise we get too triggered.
" delete the wife (the husband/the boyfriend/the girlfriend)." ---
*for sure one of the most often expressed wishes on earth*
"Delete the possibility of anyone else but X of ever romantically approaching Y."
That is more like it. Because it is always better to prevent than to treat.
As an Australian of Indian descent I have heard some awful accents on TV that should offend me but I generally just find them amusing, I suppose the Irish get it even worse. :)
My fave episode love to find me a lovely irish lass to share my life with just love the whole fantasy that you can create on the holodeck i wish that i had one of those and a replicator too❤❤😊😊jpp
In these troubled times, what would I have given to have a "Fair Haven" holodeck program, and I were Captain Kathryn Janeway I would have gone the whole hog in a relationship with Michael Sullivan. "Oh don't go troubling yourself now Katie O'Claire, Michael would be firing more blanks than a territorial soldier, indeed he would!" Tom Paris could then create a holographic infant! Let us not forget, the passage of time back on Earth would pass more rapidly than for the crew of U.S.S Voyager so far out in space
Could only imagine the debauchery good n bad that would be a real holodeck in todays society. Scary thought
Yeah. It’d bring out the best and worst in people.
Wonderful thought. Imagine if killers that are driven to do so by the thrill they get from it could simply murder holograms instead of real people. Obviously wouldn't stop all murders but it would probably cut down on them.
I for one can't wait until we either develop holodecks or fully interactive and realized (you actually smell the virtual flowers for instance) VR systems. It'll be so much fun.
I probably feel this way because if I'm not sleeping, working, consuming sustenance, or going to the bathroom, I'm playing video games. The thought of being able to insert myself into a fully interactive and realized version of Call of Duty or Fallout without any risk of bodily harm just gets me so excited.
@Randomly Entertaining mmm not sure it would work if we look at Westworld for example a place to let your deepest emotions expressed. Look at the personality of Ed Harris " the man in black" for example
Watched this episode last night. Doesn't make sense! How can they recreate an entire town? I thought the holodeck only had enough space for one room or a home....
Maybe they had two of them they stapled together, or they move it around like a 3d treadmill
Go and watch TNG Encounter at Farpoint. Riker explains how it's possible...it just the ILLUSION of being that big...
I'm from Ireland, fair haven as the worst Irish accents on tv
Without doubt. It’s still a rich Janeway story! 😁
