A bit of an unexpected friendship between these two. Noel told a story on Matt Morgan's podcast recently about going backstage at a Coldplay gig to see Chris. While he was waiting Noel noticed a big bowl of seeds on the table. He asked someone what they were and they said "They're sunflower seeds, for Chris". Noel went "Sunflower seeds? Why? Is he gardening later or something?" Noel didn't even know you could eat sunflower seeds. It's obvious that some Coldplay stuff wouldn't be to Noel's taste, but he has always been massively complimentary about their first 3 albums. And I'm sure he appreciates them now making the music they want to make (as he is).
