Hi, just want to say thank you for this video. I have been able to make covers for at least three or four of my books thanks to your video. Whenever time passes and I write a new book only to realize that I have forgotten how to make a cover, I find myself coming back to this same video. Very grateful for this.
So, I didn't know that this video had even caught the eye of anyone. Please remember to subscribe for more! My next tutorial will be another free cover creation!
Thank you so much! I have been messing around with GIMP for ages, but never getting that "polished" look. You answered SO many questions I've had in ONE video. I have to go practice now, thanks again!
Subscribe to this channel is a no-brainer. One of the best tutorials I've seen in a while. You're a gifted artist and an excellent instructor. Thanks for sharing your blessings. I've never heard of GIMP before today, but upon completion of a new book, I got the idea to help my 10y/o daughter learn to edit and format manuscripts. Honestly, she's excited to work with daddy, but I was concerned that the tedium might turn to disinterest. This app, which is affordable, along with your video is right on time! Please forgive my lack of brevity, but it's a real challenge for kids to find a vocation that is rewarding. I appreciate you.
Hi. Thanks for the video. How do you get the tool bars on the right and left of the images? When I start GIMP, it just shows the menu bar at the top. Thx!!
I think I figured out my problem. I needed to uncheck "Use tool groups" under Edit->Preferences on the 'Toolbox' section. Then, I had to go to the Windows menu and open the Layers and Paint windows.
this was nice I've been using GIMP off and on I've been writing a music theory guitar book came along way with that. This is really helping. I got the newest version 2.10.32 GIMP on a mini mac ventura computer.
@@vibrantdesigns8983 yup sure, im just trying to buy a new computer, my laptop not work. but already active bell and i watch all your videos. i just need to a computer to make me active
I would love to know wheere you get the inspiration from to choose the objects that go into the final book. so I joined your facebook page to hopefully find out and subscribed. Thanks
For some reason, when I set my background to the size canvas I want, then add a picture and try to scale it, it changes the scale of the background, thus, destroying the canvass size I'm trying to achieve. Any idea why? I'm on a mac.
On this Black Friday, I thought I'd start my book cover and am more frustrated than overjoyed. My transparent background is half the size of yours, so when I bring over my main picture, I have transparent at the top and white at the bottom. Secondly, I cannot change my transparent background to black. When I click on the tool I need I get that tiny no sign, (Cirlce with slash thru it).
I stumbled upon your video. And you are really awesome! because I had come across people who use photoshop. And I only have gimp.. Anyway I was homering if you could do a wolf book cover?
Thank you for this! What about the back of the book? I was trying to upload a cover to amazons kdp for a hardcover book and cover + back seem to be expected as one for that. Do you know what I mean? How do I do that?
Too fast. You click on a tool with a cursor that is near on impossible to see on screen - then you say, "click on the X tool." I'm busy looking for the X tool, and you have already made the move. Can you highlight the cursor and pace the delivery so that you say what you are going to do next then do it deliberately and slowly?

@@vibrantdesigns8983 Thank you! For tutorial please. I'm just learning how to make covers.
Thank you for such a great video. Are these covers designed for ebooks?
Hey no problem and yes! They are for ebooks!
Hi Thanks for the post. Can you put links you mentioned for stock photos?
I was just using images from pixabay. I wouldn't use them for actual publishing.
Thank you for this! What about the back of the book? I was trying to upload a cover to amazons kdp for a hardcover book and cover + back seem to be expected as one for that. Do you know what I mean? How do I do that?
I’m currrently dealing with the same situation, did you solve it?
Hello Can you pls publish a video on how to design a coffee table book using gimp?
I will see what I can do!
I hop to do curse and but that on Udemy plat form thanks
how did you get that ice picture
I typed "Ice texture" in pixabay. I wouldn't use them for stock photos though. I use deposit photos.
SUCH a good video, watched it all the way through 😂😂 just one question: Are ebook / Kindle covers (not print version) always 2000 x 3000? Great video!
No! That's what I set it as, but you can get the exact size from amazon
Nice.
Thank you!'

Assumes people know more than a beginner actually does.
