I tried this method, but it will not let me do it. I can copy the complete playlist, but when I try to paste in to the thumb drive folder, "paste" is shadowed out. 99 percent of my music is ripped for the 1000 CD's I own, I guess its Apple's way of only using their devices. My Ipod is dying and I wanted to use the info and songs from my ipod because I have spent numerous hours tagging all the song info correctly, so the voice commands will work properly with my Ford Sync system. Apple can shove their proprietary crap up their you know what...
@@pilula65 Unfortunately I didn't.. I gave up and added everything manually to a thumb drive. I orginally wanted to pull them from my Itunes library, because everything was properly tagged for the voice commands in my vehicle. But unfortunately Apple makes everything difficult and proprietary.

I found this video when searching what went wrong for me. Looks like I did everything right, but on my car stereo the playlist is out of order and several tracks are duplicated. However, on the usb, everything looks to be in order, with every track on there just once. Any ideas?

What if you want to have several playlists? I’m plugging my usb into my car and I’ve tried putting in playlist in a separate folder, but my car just reads all the music that is on the drive.

Devices are preset to play in different orders depending on the manufacturer. Some are set to play alphabetical you could try renaming the songs and add numbers at the front of the file name in the order you want tot. play them ie name the first song 001 then second 002 etc and see if they play in order.

@cwtek1 It does work but I could not cast to a tv to view the movies on big screen. However, I can watch the movies from the device they were sent to. The reason is because Apple sends the files differently if the movie was not paid for from the account the file was sent to.
A number of songs that I copied from iTunes to a USB thumb drive will not play on a different device? Does this have to do with some songs that have DRM protection?

Way too complicated and covering WAY too much to fast. I had to constantly pause, rewind, replay. Spent hours, but in the end couldn’t get my old Apple laptop to download even one of my 900+ songs onto my Thumb Drive. Most of your examples I guess are for Android laptops. That should have been explained at the beginning. 😢

If you have a playlist file on the usb this maybe dictating the order of the songs.

Instead of clicking paste try holding down the CTRL key on your keyboard then tap V.

Try this, create a new folder in the usb drive name it the same as your playlist.

My one doesn’t work cause my songs in iTunes are AAC files.
It only let's me a few of the songs in my Playlist, not the entire playlist.

What do you mean about the video being based on Android?
I just viewed it and it only appears to mention iTunes and Windows Explorer.
For those of us in north america this does not work as it is NTFS
