HMS Li Wo was an auxiliary patrol vessel of the British Royal Navy, which was sunk on 14 February 1942 by Japanese warships as she single-handedly attacked an enemy convoy during the Malayan Campaign.

What Japanese commander would date mention that he was blindsided by such an insignificant craft?
Appreciate you watching and have a great weekend :)
That still doesn't explain why the British had no records
I had the honour of knowing Mr Parsons. He spoke to me not only of his experiences described above but also witnessing HMS Hoods destruction (he served in POWs gun director), the sinking of POW and his dreadful time as a "quest of the Emporor". Very hard man, a very honourable man. I was given no reason to ever doubt his narrative.
Very very cool and good to know! Appreciate you watching and have a great weekend :)
This would be a MAJOR Slap in the face, just think an old riverboat doing that much damage. This would be prime "COVER UP".
Appreciate you watching and have a great weekend :)
Reminds me of the slow ferries that I used to ride between Hong Kong and Macau.
The Japanese did not even acknowledge the sinking of the four carriers at Midway or many other ships that are clearly documented to have been sunk.
Fantastic point! Thanks for watching and have a great week :)
Fact. A little bit of a ship takes on a fleet.....
Appreciate you watching and have a great weekend :)
Quite possible the Japanese where to ashamed to enter losing valuable ships in the logs ,another ship the Omaha I think part of the supply ships for Gibraltar in a convoy of many only a few made to port it was a fueler full of aviation fuel desperately needed for the spitfires was bombed ,strafed even hit by a plane crashing made it to port sank at dock fuel was pumped out next day heroic effort by English sailors
You mean the tanker Ohio.
Appreciate you watching and have a great weekend :)
A case of finding and diving on POW and the possible ship that sunk from the ramming to end the or confirm the rumors and stories .
Appreciate you watching and have a great weekend :)
Great story! I read this years ago. Thanks HH!
Glad you enjoyed it! As always, Appreciate you watching and have a great weekend :)
Rambo number? John and his Colonel are on foot and facing the whole Russian army. The Colonel says: "What do you want to do." Rambo says: Well, surrounding them's out. Attack.
What? The colonel says "what do you say John" and Rambo replied " Fuck them"
Appreciate you watching and have a great weekend :)

Sand Pebbles?
American, British, and Commonwealth sailors were absolutely fearless during the Second World War. It was not uncommon for them to fight long odds against superior Japanese and German forces.
Appreciate you watching and have a great weekend :)
Amazes me how anyone would actually expect the Japanese to make a log of a tiny riverboat attacking a fleet with a light cruiser and destroyers. Managing to sink a transporter and set another ablaze. Yeah, that sounds exactly like what the honor obsessed Japanese would do. Why would those men risk their reputations and more importantly the reputations of the brave men that gave their lives in that fight. Of course there is going to be diffences in their stories. 1 they were in direct combat and fighting for their lives. 2. They told their story 4 years after it happened. Do those non-believers think the survivors sat around their raft inventing the story? Retelling it over and over until they could recite every word? I'm sorry but several men died and the survivors spent years being tortured in a Japanese POW camp. That part of their story is above reproach and they deserve the benefit of the doubt on the rest. Those internet pundits whose total military experience amounts to online video games should be ashamed of themselves for attacking their story without a shred of evidence to back it up. Those fools annoy the hell out of me. Instead of providing proof they are correct they attack a story like that and then expect others to accept their opinions as fact and prove them wrong with proof. That's nothing more than another example of an uneducated fool thinking he is the smartest person in the room. When in actuality they are the opposite.
"This is HMS Repulse! We call her HMS Unsinkable!" "You stupid --! NO SHIP EVER BUILT IS UNSINKABLE! *REMEMBER THE TITANIC!"*
Appreciate you watching and have a great weekend :)
Officers should not be awarded the Victoria Cross for unit based operations only for personal actions.

New narrator?
Not as bad as the guy on Dark Skies though
Bud I really hate to say it, but that ship is definitely fugly.
I do not think any river boat back then was anything but ugly
@@jacktattis Thanks for a good laugh bud. Definitely a true statement.
lol. Appreciate you watching and have a great weekend :)
@@HiddenHistoryYT Thank you for all of your efforts to help keep us entertained buddy.
@@HiddenHistoryYT True story, my brother in law (who's been with my oldest sister since I was 5 and I'm 41 now) used to call my Dad Fugly as a nickname. One year for Christmas he bought my dad a black Zippo lighter with a gold tag on it that was engraved with "Fugly" and my Dad carried that lighter for years until he quit smoking. My brother wrapped it in box upon box upon box etc until my Dad got to the tiny box with the lighter. It was hilarious.
why are you stealing frames from yarnhubs animation on this specific event.
Edit: thank you for crediting them and I apologize for the misunderstanding
Damn that's weak.
Huh? I got all the images from Google/forums? I was not aware that any of these were made by Yarnhub
Did you think the toothfairy made them?
@@HarupertBeagleton-dz5gw how would I know they from someone’s animation? I’ve never seen their video and there’s no markings on the images. If you google search the ship there are literally no images that come up except the ones I used. I had 0 idea that they are from an animation?
@@HiddenHistoryYT they’re all from the same animation with the same art style on the same subject and would likely in the pictures reference link have it mentioned.
I apologize if I’m being hostile I do not intend to be. I just get wary as sometimes it’s hard to tell which channels do the AI stuff
