I love this one, it's fantastic. I do like saucy Abba - this is funky and grown-up, Frida all seductive in the verses, then when Agnetha joins for the harmonies and chorus it's almost hysterical, a thrilling crescendo, then the descending strings cooling it down - fabulous.
Agnetha's vocal insertion "Aah exploding" after Frida's "Making love is a dynamite drug, baby, so, why don't we start right away?" was an idea by Agnetha during the recording session.
This fab song must be my favourite on V-V! It is so funky, sexy and catchy! And Fridas sensual vocals are just amazing! When I have listened to your V-V reactions I have come to think, that this album must be ABBA's most happy and joyful album!? And I actually really have come to love it even more during these last weeks! So, thank you, Matt! 👍❤️
that chorus will blow your mind if you listen to it out of phase. They sing "lovers live a little longer, lovers live a little longer" over and over agtain real fast, like a yodel. 😎 thanks for this!
One of the few songs where the subject came before the music, when Bjorn read a news paper article declaring that lovers live longer and hey presto they made a top notch song out of it. One of my all time faves of theirs, due to the sultry tones of Frida. 🎉
This is a favourite of mine. When they join together in the chorus, their voices just seem to clash perfectly with each other. It's pleasantly unpleasant, like enjoying eating a sour candy.
Part of the magic of ABBA is that there are times when you're not sure if the background fills are vocals or an instrument, like the assault on your ears in this chorus
The album "Voulez-Vous" topped the charts all over the World (Top 5 in 10 countries - #1 in 7 of those) A hit in the UK (#1), Japan (#1), New Zealand (#2), Australia (#5), and Canada (#6) - peaked at #19 in the US. Finished the best-selling albums of the year - Netherlands (#2), UK (#5), Japan (#5), Austria (#7), and Germany (#11) It was the #17 best-selling album of the 70s in Japan ("Arrival" was the #14). "Voulez-Vous" is ABBA's best-performing STUDIO album in the charts in more recent years (2021-3023) ✌
Good morning dear friend, and I am glad that you have made together the last two songs of the album Voulez Vous In this case I will make a single comment for both here, and in the other video I will make a comment about the album in general There is a video of ABBA's performance in Switzerland in February 1979 with what would be the last two songs of the future album Voulez Vous (remember that the album Voulez Vous was released in April 1979) ABBA did a TV special there, with guest artists (Kate Bush and Roxy Music among them), on the occasion of the International Year of the Child and in favor of UNICEF. In this special, ABBA premiered several songs from their future album "Voulez Vous", including these two songs. More than the songs, I am going to pay attention to Frida and Agnetha. the body attitude that the girls give to those already recorded in the studio is spectacular, and in this case it is very important, since both are sexy and seductive, more in the second theme with the explosive interventions of Agnetha (I would risk saying that she seems almost wild, less than two months after her separation from Björn). These is the link of the TV perfomance with the two songs: ruclips.net/video/mk37g0JWDyk/видео.html They were not hits or as well known because from the album "Voulez Vous" four singles were released in the UK. all Top 5 but none #1: #2 Chiquitita #4 Does your mother know #3 Voulez Vous / Angeleyes #2 I have a dream Personally none of them are among my favorite ABBA songs, for me they are regular or acceptable, 4/5pts, such is the high level of the ABBA catalog I think that both songs have good passages, but they do not conform to me as a whole from "Lovers (live a little longer)" I think it's the only ABBA choir that I don't like, at times it seems to me that the girls shout more than sing, and that shock doesn't appeal to me from "Kisses of fire" I don't like the almost falsetto voices of the girls, but it was the trend set by the Bee Gees and the song itself for me stays halfway I'm going against the grain of most ABBA fans on this, but I'm honest with what I think. That is why I believe that in both cases the singers Frida and Agnetha they exceed with their interpretations in that TV special the level of each song. Both songs are influenced by disco and the hit movie "Saturday Night Fever." greetings and blessingsfrom Buenos Aires, Argentina South America
If you get a listen to the isolated backing vocals, they are incredible. You don't get how complicated they are until you hear them by themselves. When I first heard this song, it wasn't a favorite, but now, I love it.
Bjorn picked up the idea from an article he read about Lovers living longer and he thought, hey, I think I will write a lyric on that. I can imagine Frida & Anna giving Benny dagger eyes with him trying to get them to sing the chorus at such a high pitch. B&B almost had a fetish with them asking the girls to sing higher and higher all the time. It probably suits the funky, bluesy, whatever genres they have mixed in with their traditional square time they are more comfortable with.
To me the chorus gets a tiny bit 'annoying' sometimes if i'm into a relaxing mood ,lol! But Frida's hypnotic delivery is all the money.I also like the song's strings arrangements and its 'kinky velvet beat".
This is one of the few ABBA songs that doesn’t click with me - mainly the chorus which comes over as shouty and screechy (not words I ever would normally associate with Agnetha and Frida). I try to like it but no. Never mind their hit rate is so phenomenally ridiculous I have plenty of others to listen to.
"I don't care if they're watchin' 'cause listen...we got a reason for each time we're kissin'..."😉😊
I love how she pronounces the word "longevity" as "longyevity"

A top track and an underrated song. I love how they complement each other, Frida with her soft soulful voice and then Agnetha bringing the spice.
Yr great shnootz and love Abba 😊

A very seductive Frida and the rhythm on this really suits her vocals.

Looooooooooooooooooooooooove this song!!! One of my favorites of the album with Kisses of Fire and If It Wasn't For The Nights...
I really like this song. It’s edgy and funky but fun at the same time. Love Fridas sultry vocals. Thanks Matt 👍

They were not hits or as well known
because from the album "Voulez Vous" four singles were released in the UK.
all Top 5 but none #1:
#2 Chiquitita
#4 Does your mother know
#3 Voulez Vous / Angeleyes
#2 I have a dream
Personally none of them are among my favorite ABBA songs,
for me they are regular or acceptable, 4/5pts, such is the high level of the ABBA catalog
I think that both songs have good passages, but they do not conform to me as a whole
from "Lovers (live a little longer)"
I think it's the only ABBA choir that I don't like, at times
it seems to me that the girls shout more than sing,

Best voices in pop music history
I love the back up singing on this track ❤ though I don't understand what they were saying.Very funky track and nice bass by Rutger.
+ Talk about belting it out in harmony ! ... amazing ! . + so _ soulful . 🎉
😘

This bass guitar and sexy/funky Frida's voice....
❤😍😍❤️
See ya, Matt & Lucca
❤️🇨🇱👍
This is a bop! and a great but sadly hidden gem
I'd say it's inspired by Do it Anyway you Wanna by People's Choice
