    Hi, loved your utube. Very informative. Just learning to do maintenance on my boat. I pretty much go the fuel, changing oil, gear lube, and fogging your system.
    But the power trim fluid I just stumbled on. So this was an additive plus utube. Thanks again.

      @@OfftheHookOutdoors99 used your video as a guide for changing out trim oil for the first time. Never realized how smooth the motor movement was supposed to be. Lol. No more jumping or whining while trimming and it actually goes all the way up on it’s own now. Thanks!

    I liked your video. You've pretty much got all the info correct but your execution needs some tweaking. You're correct when you said to raise the engine trim all the way up before filling the reservoir but you failed to raise your engine all the way up until it stops moving. The engine has to be all the way up in order to fill the hydraulic reservoir fully. Yours will end up a little low because of that. After filling the reservoir you need to cycle the trim all the way down until it stops moving and then all the way up until it stops moving in order to bleed the air out of the system. Once you've done that two or three times recheck the fluid level in the reservoir and add more fluid as necessary. Yes, these are the procedures right out of the Mercury service manual.

    Question. I have same 125 2000 mercury i was out on the lake my i took water over the transom the trim went up and stayed on had to disconnect the battery to stop ant though would be appreciated sir

      Check your electric on your pump that might be the malfunction I’ve heard of them going up and not stopping it just keeps sort of whining in the up position.

  • @tim4269
    @tim4269 9 месяцев назад +1

    My understanding is the motor needs to be tilted all the way up and then open the white plug and fill it with fluid. Worked for my 1995 90hp Merc.

      @@OfftheHookOutdoors99 my trim motor blew up, there's a crack and started leaking i think because i overfilled it with liquid

    • @OfftheHookOutdoors99
      @OfftheHookOutdoors99  9 месяцев назад

      @@wazup3333 that would take a lot of pressure to do that but are you sure you emptied the oil every year to get the water out if any of the seals leaked water into the oil on the lower end it will do that but haven’t heard of your trim pump cracking the motor. Let me know where it cracked if you could

    • @wazup3333
      @wazup3333 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@OfftheHookOutdoors99 here's photos of the crack, the motor was making noise but wasn't going up and down so I installed a new motor. When i filled it up and was cycling it up and down it just exploded with some oil shooting out. When i was filling it i had it in the vice grip and i think my mistake was that i took it out of the vice grip and put it at an angle so fluid wouldn't spill out and make a mess and i put more and more fluid inside with it at an angle.

    So, did you just finger tighten it and then stroked the trim? I saw another video that a guy left it open and trimmed up and down. I think his port was higher though

    • @OfftheHookOutdoors99
      @OfftheHookOutdoors99  Год назад

      I closed it because you are correct my port is low so I didn’t want to loose the fluid. I had air pressure release after I moved it up and down so that’s the way they recommend doing it! Thank you so much for watching and I hope to see you back again!👍

    • @OfftheHookOutdoors99
      @OfftheHookOutdoors99  Год назад +1

      I did finger tighten the cap then ran it up and down then waited about 30 seconds and released the pressure. I did that 3 times just to be certain.👍
