Great video, Jim. Regarding the book repair: you can get bookbinding glue (non-acidic) or pva glue and spread it on to the book spine, you won't need an excessive amount, place the cover back in position, then use elastic bands to keep everything together and leave it for a day to dry properly. The book looks like it is in really good condition (apart from the cover coming away), so I might protect the book with a couple of sheets of paper or cereal box cardboard wrapped around so the elastic bands doesn't damage any edges or pages.

Thanks, Kevin! I'll look for a tube of that at my local Canadian Tire store and give it a shot. Other than that, the book is in great shape.
      Thanks very much! 🙏

Glad you mentioned 'Brak the Barbarian'- he will look good on the bookshelf alongside 'Conan' and Karl Edward Wagner's 'Kane.'

I should have my Brak books out where I can see them. Right now, they're buried.

That's a really good book haul, Jim... especially with those periodicals thrown in for free! I have to say, with one thing and another, I haven't gotten around to reading any horror fiction this month. I am making a concerted effort to take part in *June on the Range* . In an SF vein, there's a "Book Trek 2024" event that's also starting next month that I'm all up for.

I have quite a few Star Trek books, but it would have just been too much to add that event this year. Thanks, Andrew!

Hi Jim. I've only read one Robert Mccammon book. I think the name was The Wolf's Hour. I found it quite entertaining. That's a nice haul of books there both western and SF. You have a lot of fun reading ahead of you!

Thanks, Steve! I think I'll have fun with whatever I decide to read next month. Nice to have lots of choices!

Night Boat sounds fun!. I really liked Speaks the Nightbird a while back, and always meant to go back and read some of his earlier books. The Wolf's Hour sounds especially awesome! You mentioned the Louis L'Amour graphic novel, Law of the Desert Born, in an earlier video. That sounded great for June On The Range, but I couldn't wait. I received it yesterday and read it today. It was very good. The Thomas Yeates artwork was excellent. Thanks for mentioning it. I wish they had adapted more L'Amour stories. Now I'm thinking about reading The Searchers by Lemay or Trouble Shooter by Haycox. Good video! Enjoy your new books!

Oh man, Thank you, Rick! I'm glad that you picked it up. "The Searchers" is a great book as well! I can't find my copy, unfortunately. Thanks for your comment!

Super book haul. I am jealous. You are obviously well-fixed for June on the Range for this year and years to come. I read a Robert Randisi, called Gallows, for last year's event and really liked it. I am still planning to drop by my one and only nearby used bookstore to see what I can find before June. I have some Elmer Kelton but I read those years ago so I want something new to me.

Awesome video Jim! I love Robert McCammon and will definitely look out for Night Boat. I still need to find and read his earlier novels. Sounds like this book would be a great GarbAugust read. Great Haul! I am going to read The Haunted Mesa by Louis L'Amour for June On The Range. I may have some others up my sleeve as Greg has recommended some naughty westerns that sound fun for this event. Man, you have a lot of westerns. Love your enthusiasm for the genre. I loved the movie 3.10 To Yuma! Never heard of western/sci-fi but will look for some horror/western books for the event.

Thanks, Cliff! I really enjoyed "The Haunted Mesa." June on the Range should be a lot of fun! Both versions of 3:10 to Yuma were very good movies. I'm hoping to watch a few westerns throughout the month of June.

@@MysteryandMayhem-gr7nn I would love to re-watch some great westerns, but unfortunately my wife despises them (too cruel) so that is out of the question. 🤣

Yep, Asimov's SF and Analog are still publishing new issues, along with Ellery Queen's Mystery Ma, and Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine. They are all owned by the same publishers now, Penny Publications, the same outfit that does many of the word search, crossword, and other puzzle magazines in the U.S.

Neat westerns and Scifi there, Jim! Interesting about Dean Owens--I enjoy his stuff too. And about the glue, yes, the PH Neutral PVA from Amazon works great and is safe for books.

Thanks, bertorosso! Dean Owen also wrote as Dudley Dean, Owen Dudley, and Hodge Evens. Quote a prolific writer! I've got some of that glue on order. 🤗 Thanks for commenting!

No, the Book Nook is closed down. I guess the guy retired. Too bad! He had a good collection of paperbacks at his store.
